My polish chipped the same day I got my manicure, and they rushed me through even though it was not busy and well before closing time.

Not impressed. Could be cleaner and felt like they tried to trick me into purchasing the higher priced pedicure by pretending not to understand when I said I wanted the «basic pedicure». One coat of color and one coat topcoat

I had three separate people working on my nails. They came out exactly as I envisioned. All of the manicurists here are perfectionists and completely love what they do. Only $ 25 for my full set & polish. The best part, they didn’t nick me or hurt me once!
Update: One of my nails broke only a week later. I didn’t even notice when it happened so I guess it didn’t take much to break one. I work at a computer all day so I don’t even know what could’ve caused it. Pretty disappointing :/​They looked good at first but definitely didn’t hold up well.

DO NOT GO TO HERE! I went for a manicure and pedicure. I was getting a pedicure and a man came to give me a manicure across my lap — no table, just my hands in the air! He cut my cuticles THREE times. Never said «I’m sorry», just put polish over the bleeding skin. I told him I wanted clear polish, so he only put on base and top coat — no polish!
The girl giving me a pedicure, put so much polish on that it ran over the side of my nails on my toes. She didn’t apply a clear top coat. Probably a good thing.
MY EXPERIENCE WAS TERRIBLE — DO NOT GO HERE!

I like this place. The people are really nice and they always do a good job. Ryan is awesome at gel nails. He is very meticulous. Prices reasonable.

My place, always go to John for nails, and always get appt. He’s fast and my nails look great and last..

Have to agree with Carol. Male nail techs are ALWAYS on their mobile phones or laptop. Mediocre at best.

Awful! Stay away… I wonder why this place is still in business. That’s all one can say. Take your hard-​earned $ and treat yourself to a better place!

I keep trying this place, but it is getting dirtier & dirtier. All of the technicians treat customers as if they are an enemy instead of a customer. Sanitation practices seem weak, & tools were used from one customer to the next, yuck.

Do NOT go to this place—
First, I went in to get a regular pedi as a treat to myself (I get one once a year). So, had no idea what to expect from them… What a MISTAKE!
I asked if they ever put on fake toenails ever and I think they said «yes», but it was hard to understand… the lady, I think her name was Natalie, or??? said she could do mine for $ 30, so thought what the heck, I would like some pretty painted toenails for my family reunion. MISTAKE #2! She actually broke my skin with her little filing machine, I kind of jumped and she looked at me, mind you it was my big toe and yes, it hurt… but I got this dirty look from her & then she panicked when I said my toe is bleeding, that hurt, so she went over and got some cotton balls and some sort of oil and rubbed on it… It has been 4 weeks and it still is not all healed up…
She was so rude — - so, needless to say, I did not leave a tip for her… She never told me thank you, bye or nothing… she’ll be lucky if I don’t send the health department out to her…
GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! And, I have heard if you go to Golden Nails, watch your debit /​credit card receipt… because they over charge!!!

Stay FAR FAR away if you can! My mom and I decided we wanted a girly day out, and decided to try Star Nails for a mani-​pedi. The woman my mom had was wonderfully sweet! I had a man. Usually I like men doing my mani-pedi’s, but this guy was awful, rude and rough. He used the pummus stone on the top of my feet… who does that? He literally rubbed my feet raw and made them bleed. It didn’t even phase him. My toe nails look like a 4 year old painted them. While I was trying to forget the awful pedicure experience, he started my hands. I asked him to cut my nails and he said «No». I told him I didn’t like them long, and he tried to get out of it by saying that short nails weren’t good for me. I told him to cut them anyway. He did, but he cut them unevenly. He also cut up my cuticles and gave me hangnails… I thought they were supposed to take those away! The final straw for me was when he messed up my thumb nail and got all huffy and irritated like it was my fault. Unbelievable. After we left my mom told me she wasn’t happy with her manicure as well. By the time we got home, both of our nails were already messed up.
The cost for both of our mani-pedi’s, $ 70!!! Way overpriced! From now on we will be frequenting Sally’s Nails down on Broadway or in Cameron Park. They are much better.

I wish I didn’t even have to give this place 1 star. I went here for a couple years… out of desperation obviously. There was ONE technician I liked… she was nice enough to speak english to other coworkers.
What did I end up getting from this place for a couple years of loyalty? A staph infection on my legs. 2 antibiotics and a few months later, I am finally free of infection. Feel free to check their Board of Cosmetology records. I wish I had.

Pretty sure I just paid $ 23 to get the polish on my toes changed. My definition of a good pedicure is one that includes leaving feeling refreshed, walking on feet that are callous-​free and soft. And without a headache from the Mandarin TV program that was yelling at me the whole time. When I asked the tech if she was going to file, buff or otherwise remove the rough spots on my feet, she told me no, and that I needed to put lotion on my feet at night. Oh, and that I need a pedicure every 2 weeks. Thanks for the advice– I’ll get right on that– but it won’t be at Star Nails. Nice paint job, though.

I’ve tried this place several times. When I first went there they were very bad. I tried again a year later and they had a fellow names John working there who did and excellent job. John quit and now they are back to doing a very very bad job again.
My last and final attempt there was today. The woman putting the nails on did a horrible and painful job, and charged $ 40. I expressed frustration to the manager and got a «shrug» in reply.

Pros: The people here are really nice and the facility always appears clean. Prices are average. They are very thorough with their pedicures and have a good selection of polish colors.
Cons: I don’t like it when the nail salon has a TV playing in general (I don’t find it relaxing in the slightest), I especially don’t like it when they play a show that is in a language I don’t understand. Especially when the nail tech stops in the middle of my pedicure every so often because she has her eyes glued to the TV set across the room and it distracts her.
Also, last time I went in, they put on so much nailpolish it took HOURS to dry and I ended up with smudges.
I’m looking for a new place to go next time just because I don’t find this place relaxing at all. If you’re in a rush (as I was last time) it’s in a good location, but just «okay.»

Have had full set, fills and pedicures here. It was okay but not great. Lots of male nail techs too busy on their cell phones to try and chat with you. I also have tried a few times hoping it will be better but isn’t.

I keep giving this place second and third chances. They have never been all that impressive and they really just don’t do that great of a job! It is in a good location and one of the few places that actually looks clean in Placerville but thats about all they have going for them. The foot massage lacks a lot, massage chairs sucks and the nail painting job is not too impressive. Also, they really do not do french tip well!
