Maaco Collision Repair & Auto Painting

This is a follow-​up to my previous posts regarding my experience with the Maaco-​Plainfield shop. Bottom line: after three visits (initial plus two re-​work), I CANNOT RECOMMEND this shop NOR Maaco for auto repair or painting. The details of my order are in previous posts. Yesterday (⁹⁄₁₁), I picked up my car after 3 days in the shop for some minor re-​work. Upon calling them before closing on Day 3 (The manager indicated that he had called @ 3:30 PM. The call went directly to voicemail. There was no follow-​up.), I was assured that the car was now «perfect». (Incidentally, when I called at 4:45 PM, the manager indicated that I would have to pick the car up the next day, Saturday, as the shop would close at 5:00 PM. He later relented. When I got there at 5:15 PM, the shop was not close to being closed.) The car WAS NOT «perfect» by my standards. I accepted the car, as I wanted to get my car out of this shop since each time I brought it in, I noticed additional defects which had not previously been present. Like hospitals, staying too long in this shop can be dangerous!
I had received a call from Maaco Customer service after my request for priority service on this third visit. Lea assured me that she would contact the shop to address my concerns. I never heard from her again. Apparently, the entire company can be «painted with one brush.» Auto painting requires attention to detail. You expect the technicians to take pride in their work. This is not the case at Maaco, based on my experience, top to bottom. If you are not particular and are happy with paint being slopped on your vehicle, including at unintended places, Maaco may be OK. For the fastidious, go elsewhere!
