Great place for dinner and drinks. The drinks can be pricey. Great wings and burgers. The servers are usually on top of everything

Went there tonight and were seated quickly. Restaurant was half empty but no one came to our table for 20+ minutes. Waitress thought it was more important to clear tables(although no one was waiting to be seated) than to take an order. Patrons who came in after us were waited on. We left and will not be back!

Great beer selection and the menu is extensive. The portions are generous, so go there hungry. I recommend the home made pierogi and the«Woodland», their take on Pork Chops Murphy, with hot peppers. I have a good appetite and a single chop is more than enough. Good restaurant food at diner prices. This area has needed a place like this for a long time.

A little torn here. The wings were A+, spicy, big and not breaded. They have tots and a nice seasoning on big fries. The burger was cooked to temp and cooked perfectly. My problem is that the meat had essentially no seasoning, and one patty was burned to the point that all I could taste in a few bites was burned meat. The cheese had no flavor, and somehow the sautéed onions lacked flavor. The patties were also greasy, and soaked into the bread on my drive home(~15 minutes). Also, if you pull in here take the first entrance. I took a left into the alley past the building and drove down a street that looked like it had been bombed in an air raid. The parking lot in the back was fine though. So overall, go for the wings and sides, don’t bring a burger home and maybe try one different from the cheese and onion burger.

Went Friday for the first time. Great beer and wine list. Fried pasta on the table is addictive. Food was fabulous and the service was great. Will definitely return soon.

I’ve been her about 6 times and every time I am here I get the homemade pirogies with caramelized onions and bacon with a butter sauce and fresh sauerkraut! It’s to die for!!! I’ve also had the«Plainfield Civic» which is your everyday double burger with bacon, and a fried egg on top! The food here is absolutely amazing and cooked fresh to order. They have a nice local craft beer selection and the staff is wonderful. LGBT friendly. The décor is amazing with vintage décor and local artifacts from Plainfield and the surrounding areas… including the amazing vintage train station sign and old church bench! Seriously this place is a hidden gem and should not be overlooked!!! My favorite place in the area.

$ 7.50 seems to be the magic number at this bar. Craft beer was $ 7.50 not a large selection on tap, but the most surprising thing was the 6 buffalo wings for $ 7.50. If you want quality craft beers and wings that are very good and priced reasonably go to Paragon in Clark.

Great burgers and best Whiskey Sour I’ve had in many years. Service is fast and friendly. The fried pasta sticks at the table are addictive. I try to get here when I want a tasty, fast and satisfying meal.

Been living in Plainfield for over 30 years and nothing in this town can come close to the quality of food and service this place has to offer. This is my 3rd time eating here and the food was excellent every time. I’ve always been seated promptly, helpful and knowledgeable waiters, and a chef that knows what he’s doing in the kitchen. First two visits I ordered burgers. One was a triple cheese burger that I added bacon to cooked medium rare. The burger was cooked perfectly and the brioche bun was nicely toasted. Cheese was a perfect blend of swiss, cheddar, & mozzarella. Bacon was crispy as can be. The burgers & fries alone will fill you up so bring your appetite. Today I had the crab cake and arugula sandwich on a brioche bun. Absolutely amazing!!! The crab cake was huge. Yes they use real crab & not too much filler. The sauce was spicy but not nearly overwhelming. There are also plenty of craft beers and their mixed drinks are very good as well. The décor is very nice & clean. I will be going back to this place very often in the future.

Underwhelmed. I was hopeful upon entering The Netherwood as it has nice ambiance. I really wanted to love it as so close to home. Found sides of plates and silverware to have fingerprints. Corn clam chowder very good. The Balsamic Calamari lacked in heat(temp) and was a bit chewy. Burger was below average and meat flavorless. Probably won’t return anytime soon.

Very good lunch and dinner place. Had the salmon. It was a little dry but good. Corn chowder was delicious! Service was very good except my meal took extra long.

I’m intrigued by this place — not somewhere I would ever go to unless plans were made by others for this location, which is exactly what brought me there. I came during the day, it’s a medium-sized restaurant with a very friendly staff. While it wasn’t packed when I was there, I could see how it could be during on peak hours. The food portions are huge, and priced well. I got the Cuban sandwich, fries and an allagash which was all delicioso. FOMO hit though, I feel like I should have gotten a burger… they looked TASTY. Everyone at the table ordered that but me and they all said it was really good. Bottom line — come for the ambiance, decent prices and the good portions of a variety of types of dishes.

Nothing to complain about, excellent service, excellent pub food as well as their specials. Great beer as well… what else do you need? The burger are superb, specialty burgers with two nice size patties. They’re all very different so I’d take a look at the menu and decide for yourself… The Reuben is very tasty and quite large. I love the food here and always recommend it to people!

I am so upset that I never knew of this place! I can not wait to go again! I had ordered to start my meal. I got the pineapple curry boneless wings. Wow, it was amazing!!! Now I LOVE curry and don’t mind when it’s over powering, this was NOT overpowering and had the perfect blend of sweet and spice. I was mad I only ordered 6 lol My drink was called the 2nd Ward. A concoction of raspberry vodka, chambord and cranberry juice. This drink could be dangerous but it’s amazing!!! It wasn’t «boozey» tasting at all, that’s the dangerous part. I could have easily enjoyed a 2nd, 3rd and 4th but I didn’t because I wanted to enjoy my meal. My main course was a burger that I’d have never thought would be as amazing as it was. I believe it was called the Watchung Putnam? 2 beef burger patties, hot peppers and brie melted on top. Side of tater tots(made me feel like a kid again hahaha yay!) Cloe slaw and a pickle. The atmosphere of this place is like no where else. My friend and I were commenting on the décor and how awesome everything looked. We sat at a small table by the bar, 1 leather chair and 1 seat on a couch. I was quite comfy on the couch but my friend felt like she needed a booster seat to talk to me across the table(chair is too short, that’s my only complaint…) We went during lunch time hours on a Saturday, I can wait to go back on a Friday night!!! We found a new hang out and love it!!!

This was my first time here and I was very happy that my friends brought me here. Very extensive menu for a bar. I had a great(both in taste and size) Cobb Salad. One friend had a Cuban Sandwich and the other had a pulled pork. Both were piled high and the sweet potato fries were particularly good. The names on the menu item differ from what I called them since everything is named for something local. I liked that part. Service while not great was OK. It was our decision, although one I regretted later, to sit at a high table on a stool rather than wait for a regular table with chairs. The place has a bunch of large screen TVs along the walls but inexplicably all were tuned to a re-broadcast of the Yankee’s game played earlier in the day. I definitely want to go back to this place.

Very interesting place. Small bar and restaurant but homey. Not a fan of the paper menus but there was lot to offer. Didn’t know what the sticks were in the table till we saw the other couple eating them. They were fried fettuccine but with pepper! Ahh look out! Ordered the wings, a burger and a pasta dish. The food was very good and large portions. The waiter was very attentive and informative. Saw an outside seating area looked like a small beer garden. Was wondering though why it was so empty on a Thursday night though. We will probably be back to check it out again.

A hungry husband who wants to go somewhere new. That was my predicament when I used Unilocal and found the Netherwood. Wow, this had the makings of a true find and one I NEVER would have found without Unilocal. It was an early Sunday afternoon when we came in after snow shoeing. Service was good enough, and we ordered some craft beers(Carton milk stout– delicious!) and snacked on the fried spaghetti-looking strands that decorated the table(my husband thought it was inedible table décor at first, as it’s presented in a vase… haha). Someone even brought us out fresh warm ones when they saw we liked them so much. Super salty, designed to make you want to drink more beers(we see your motive, Netherwood!). We ordered burgers $ 12 each, the husband raved about his chicken burger and tater tots. I loved my Putnam Wathung burger(with hot peppers and brie) and waffle cut sweet potato fries. The burger was incredible! Now keep in mind these burgers have 2 patties so don’t be turned off by the $ 12 price tag. It’s worth it. We enjoyed the seating, décor, and possibility of sitting outside in warmer weather. The big negative was the price of beer. Prices aren’t posted(that should have been a warning to us but we were anticipating they’d be $ 6 based on our craft beer drinking experience) and when we got our bill we saw it was $ 8 a pint! I know it’s craft beer but $ 8 is ridiculous. In Plainfield. Seriously, we don’t pay that in Manhattan. Netherwood, you need to tone down those beer prices before we come back, but understand I do want to return. Your food is awesome, your décor is great, a true diamond in the rough waiting to be discovered. Just please, price your beers a little more reasonably! 4 stars minus 1 star for the overpriced pints = 3 stars.

The burger was GREAT! I would definitely go back for a burger. Beyond that, things were only OK. My mom order a salad with grilled chicken and the chicken was tough — she told the server and there was no additional follow up. The table felt dirty and possibly from the seasoning that’s on the sticks they give you. Either way, the water glasses and bread plates were literally stuck to the table when we sat down. Finally, the water glasses were dirty. There were old fingerprints on the glasses and grease. Again, great burger!!!
