This is just like the stage house in Somerset. The menu is a little dif mostly on the drink side tho. The building is really cool. Super old and has many different rooms. Great hang out spot for any occasion.

Rolled over for an early dinner with the wife and kids with the intention of sitting outside. They had plenty of outdoor tables available. The hostesses studied the computer screen deciding where to seat us. They chose a quiet table off to the side. Normally this wouldn’t be a problem, but the table was warped and ready for the dumpster. We were also seated next to some sort of weeping/dripping wall and a rotted out window sill. See my pics. No one should have to sit at that table. Food was average. I have no desire to go back. Bar looks like fun for a drink though.

It’s interesting to see that both Stage Houses(Scotch Plains & Somerset) earn the same rating by Unilocalers. There are a lot of reviews for both. Must be consistent… I have been to the Scotch Plains location about 5 times, but definitely not 10. I think the food is very good. It leans on the gastronomic side. The menu is varied between apps, salads, sides, entrées, and hand-helds. I’m sorry for the lack of pics, but I tend to have to force myself to take pics of my food. The clams were good, nachos were definitely home-made, pulled pork sandwich looked great, quesadilla was complimented, and the tuna tartar was on point. Today was a really nice Friday so the patio was busy! For me, a married man in his 30’s, 4−9pm is perfect. I noticed a much younger crowd after 9pm. Security showed up, with wristbands, and I felt like they went from restaurant to club. Good food, but choose your happy hour…

For Mother’s Day they had an all-inclusive special menu, which included an appetizer, entrée, and dessert, from a pre-selected list. The crab cake appetizer was lukewarm, and not terribly flavorful. The steak was overcooked(not medium rare) but tender, the potatoes were warm not hot, and the veggies were the pretty standard«Medley» of large cut carrots and things. Chances are that a lot of this had been prepared ahead for the Mother’s Day rush. It is an old, historical building, the interior is dark with low ceilings, broken into different rooms. Bathrooms are well kept. Five people, five Mother’s Day specials, five drinks from the bar, or one per person. About $ 330, gratuity built in at 20%. Price to value seems seriously out of whack, and the interior space needs a do-over, though the outdoor patio is lovely on a cool Spring Day.

This is a great restaurant with a huge menu! They have about 5 different sections for dining including three individual upstairs sections. They menu was generally«feel good» food and I can’t say I didn’t like anything I tried. I went for a cousin’s birthday(and came back two weeks later because I wanted to introduce my sister and brother-in-law to their delicious choices). If you go, Ive tried and recommend the following: meatloaf, oysters, loaded nachos, loaded fries, ciabatta pizza, onion rings, sautéed shrimp, chicken saltimbocca with basil pesto cream sauce(ravioli). Cheers and I hope you enjoy stagehouse as much as I do!

This place is old staple. Pretty good drinks and drafts but the bar help is rather discombobulated. Getting a drink sometimes is unbelievably difficult and that’s kind of annoying when they’re busy… After 10 minutes you can waive your arms like they’re on fire and they just ignore you. Pizza is on the poor side. Other apps are OK but mostly greasy deep-fried stuff but the atmosphere is kind of cool.

The mussel’s, steamed clams, calamari were fantastic. We sat at the bar during happy hour, and the bartenders kept me happy with their service and attention to detail. I ordered a mixed drink, had 3 different bartenders, because the bar is pretty large and they always knew what to mix. The hamburgers are as big as your head and the service is excellent. My only knock is the dining room in the bar area can get quite loud, and they sit families there. I know I’m being picky, but bar talk is loud and sometimes the ever popular curse words come out. Overall, this place rocks.

Stage House food is really just okay. I’ve been there a few times and I’ve tried the Warm Pecan Crusted Goat Cheese Salad, the Parmesan Crusted Chicken, and the CA burger. Overall, I’d say I enjoyed the burger the most. They do have a friendly atmosphere and we will probably go again.

This is a great place. I frequently come here. I have enjoyed everything I have tried. I like the oysters, mussels, clams, tuna tartar, grilled salmon, steak, pulled pork, and most of their desserts. The service is always good and attentive. Even on busy days, we have never waited more than 5min for a table. Great solid place that serves consistently good food.

Choosing to come here this third time was easy. They out performed themselves again! We knew we couldn’t go wrong for our 30th anniversary of our engagement for a St. Valentine’s Day night out. The real surprise was the champaign, chocolate covered strawberries, and rose finish line! Every time here makes for a great date night. The staff was friendly. The atmosphere was relaxing. The food was delicious! An all around winner that stays at the top of our list!

Awesome place!!! went with two girlfriends for a Christmas dinner and had a lovely night! we started with the Mac and cheese to share which was deliciously cheese with a crunchy top! I ordered the buffalo chicken tenders which got an A+. My one friend got the parmigiana crusted chicken sandwich and is still raving about it! The staff was busy and the place was packed but everyone got the job done

This review is for the tavern/courtyard section. I haven’t been to the wine bar/upscale section in ages, so I will review that once I have been back. The tavern/restaurant section is fairly large, and appears to be at least 100 years old if not older. It’s kind of cool to see beams and pillars from the 1800s. The tavern side has a huge u shaped bar with many flat screen tvs. It’s an ideal place for watching sports, and the tvs are tuned to many different games so odds are you can see your favorite team. There is a large outdoor courtyard with a bar and many tables. During nice weather it’s jammed, as we don’t have many places with large outdoor seating areas with a bar. I tend to have one of the burgers on the menu, as I’m a big fan of them. They will also substitute onion rings for fries if you ask. The wings are better than average, and tend to be the appetizer I order the most. Prices are fairly reasonable, roughly $ 12 for a burger. The staff has always been friendly and helpful.

If you call to make reservations(which you need to do on a Friday or Saturday night, or else you won’t get a table), make sure you do it from a phone that lets the number you’re calling from show up on Caller ID. Otherwise, they won’t accept your call. The chicken caesar wrap was dry and did not come with dressing. This place also has a poor layout; there is no dance floor to speak of so if you are dancing to live entertainment, you will be in the way of the wait staff and other guests who are trying to get to and from their tables. The entertainment also has to wait for customers to finish eating and for the staff to put away their tables before they can set up, so many times the entertainment goes on late.

Unless I’m desperate for a place to sit outdoors and have a drink I will not be returning. The two stars are for the hostess who was very friendly and the waiter who was attentive yet never offered his name. While waiting for our table we decided to have a drink at the outdoor bar. We stood at the end of the bar near the service table as it wasnt crowded there. After approximately 5 minutes we gave up as the only attention we were getting were from the many flies surrounding the service station. This should have been the sign to go elsewhere. The bartenders were in a world if their own. None of them were attentive to the customers. I can’t imagine how bad service us when its more than two deep. I had the lamb shank which looked and tasted if it had been sitting in the pot for a week. My friend had the half chicken which was bland at best. Dont waste your money!

The only reason why I’m giving this place 2 stars is the bar area is nice when you enter in. It looks to be a great place to socialize and enjoy drinks in open air setting. Nice décor all over. To sum up the food here… nothing was memorable. The food here pretty much seemed like just plain olé bar food. Blan as can be, flavlorless, spiceless(unless salt and peper does it for ya). The drinks were okay, just not a fan this place for dining. Never coming here to have dinner again, but maybe drinks.

Great place to socialize and grab a bite to eat. The outside patio gets really crowded in the summer time, with groups of guys and girls mingling. I guess if you’re single its a great place to meet some folks. Was there with friends who were dining but I was just having a cocktail. The waiter seemed super friendly and accommodating and their meals looked really good. I have eaten there once prior(on a first date no less, LOL) and I do remember the food being pretty good.

I am glad my friend suggested we end our new year festivities here. We initially wanted to get a place at the bar but this place does get really crowded and we had to settle for a seating in their first floor space. The cocktails were really great. My personal favorite is whiskey sour and the Lynchburg Lemonade is StateHouse’s version with the right sour n sweet mix complementing the bourbon. My vegetarian pals had a loaded nachos — excellent n filling and a quesadilla. I got myself a couple of raw oysters. The home sauce accentuated the tastes of the fresh oysters. Would definitely be back for the raw oysters and Lynchburg lemonade.
