Nomad Yarns

The owners are knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The shop is charming, just what you’d imagine an independent yarn shop to be.
I have a special place in my heart for Nomad Yarns because I learned to knit thanks to Erica and Dave. I bought a Groupon in 2012 for Nomad Yarns and chose the beginner knitting class after surveying all of the knitters and crocheters I know to find out which they’d recommend. They provided the basic tools to get started knitting and purling and they’re always happy to help with follow-​up questions in person or over the phone.

After driving by day after day on my way to work and never having the chance to stop I finally had a 30 minute window to pop in before my shift.
The shop just recently celebrated it’s third anniversary and is run by Dave and Erica, a husband and wife duo, who really go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and welcome. The shop inhabits a beautiful old Victorian home, which really adds to the charm.
Upon entering the shop for the first time I instantly wanted to buy one of everything but to do this I would be taking out a second mortgage on my home. Their stock of yarns is displayed through three rooms on the ground floor and offers many different brands, some national and some local, in many different fibers, weights, and colors. They also carry roving and spinning supplies if you are interested in learning how to spin your own yarn.
They offer Craft Club times on various days where you can bring in your current projects and work as you chat with some of the other regulars (they also offer a Loyalty Program with discounted products throughout the year). Nomad also offers different classes where if you are a beginner, you can learn basic techniques in knitting, crochet, or even spinning. If you are seasoned, they offer classes in more advanced techniques.
Nomad is well acquainted with social media and will provide you with updates on upcoming classes and events and other general goings on if you are one of their followers. Definitely a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for any level of fiber enthusiast!
