Food was superior to the usual take out Indian fare. We ordered an assortment of appetizers and shared several entries. Everything was well done and served with excellent hospitality. The atmosphere was just the right touch. And, what a treat their kufti was! Usually it’s too iced hard and I can’t even eat it. But this one was like suckling on ice– fun, tasty, smooth.

Pathetic hara bhara kabab! This is not a kabab but a aloo baad with long threads of methi in it which feels like as if you are eating hair! It’s pathetic! How is this a kabab!

Hands down the best service, great ambience, awesome service. Definitely a place to have a great Indian fine dining experience. Lunch buffets have a great spread. Strongly recommend to try the Kati Roll.

As a long time fan of Indian food, we were thrilled when we first heard a new place was coming to central Jersey. And Jhopri doesn’t disappoint. Honestly — could run through the entire menu and just check off ‘that was excellent too’ for each one. So I won’t do that.(But I could…) You’ll love the naan, you’ll love the chicken tikka masala, you’ll love the mint cilantro dip(Tip: keep it for the naan…) Perhaps one of the smartest things Jhopri owners did for folks who may be new to Indian — you can order your dish’s heat based on a 1 – 10 scale. So… if you go overboard and get something too spicy — remember… the salted lassi is great too. :) 5 star. As good as it gets.

Jhopri serves very nice Indian buffet. We went for the lunch buffet on a Saturday. Their service was good. Surprisingly they had plenty of veg and nonveg items in the buffet and those were really very good. There was a number of choices in the salads also. The chicken maharaja kebab, lamb curry were extremely tasty. Other items were much better than the average. We also loved the gulab jamun in dessert. We found Jhopri one of the best Indian restaurants in New Jersey at a reasonable price.

One of the best Indian buffets I have had in NJ. Lots of option. Their mutton dishes are simply melts in a mouth kind of delicious. It’s good that they have now three types of rices. At least today they had. Though the mango lassi was a nit over sweet.

Really great Indian restaurant. Wow. Maybe the best Chicken Makhala I’ve ever had! We were visiting the area and ate here on a Saturday evening and had no trouble being seated, which is a surprise given the food quality and attentive service. Reasonable prices but BYOB. I would come back without hesitation.

Beautiful restaurant, dimly lit for an intimate feel. My husband and I ordered the chicken tikka app that had great flavor and was served sizzling hot. For the main we had palak panir which was spicy the way we had ordered it. It was good, not great, especially since it seemed to have some cream in it which really takes away from the dish. The other main was the malai chicken kabob which I was really looking forward to but this kind of kabob is supposed to be very tender and it was kind of tough and way too mild in taste. My husband loved his chicken karahi, it was tender and well-spiced. Gulab jamun was very good and served warm. I would go back and try their other dishes. Service was attentive and friendly. There is a liquor store very close by which makes it convenient for this BYOB place.

After having«The Best» experience last time, we drove 60 miles to try the lunch buffet again today. I must say I like everything about this place: ambiance, food, service etc. We had papri chat — Fresh and tasted awesome with their tamarind chutney. raita — best and fresh. Aloo bonda — tasty and not too oily. Malai chicken kabab — Flavorful and perfectly cooked. sambar vada with coconut chutney — Vada’s were crisp and the way it should be along with homemade coconut chutney taste. Cholay Bhatura — Best cholay I have tasted in US with best bhatura’s which were not very oily. Panner Makhni/Nav Korma/Saag/Rice in main course: Everything had its own unique taste. Naan — Perfectly cooked. Dessert — Gulab Jamun and fruit custard — were icing on the cake for the lunch we had. Staff is very friendly, very responsive. I like this place alot and will definately recommend it for the lunch buffet.

Good lunch Buffett. Lots of choices. Salad bar, medu wada. Sweet dishes were gulab jamun and Kheer. The nan was not great. It was cold and not appetizing. They have a dosa with buffet. You have to ask for it. Over all good service and food.

I used to live a stone’s throw away from this place. I waited anxiously everyday on my way in and out of the library for this place to open. I happened to go to this place for a lunch date. What a delight. Fantastic prices for the quality of food. Good naan service at the table. Buffet had quite some variety. The desserts were wonderful. My concerns are with the dosas, which could have been made better and the staff, more friendlier. They were more concerned about running the kitchen than making sure the guest are doing alright and taken care of. I would go back here if «crown of India» was closed. Good for the price though.

Went for the lunch buffet. Good choices in the veg dishes. Liked the spicy salad. Starter paneer pKora was not so good… Was very dry and hard. Over all good place with nice ambience and service.

Jhopri is owned by the same people that own Cross Cultures in Princeton and they have the same excellent food. There are lots of vegetarian options– I recommend the palak paneer and paneer masala in particular. Definitely the best Indian restaurant in Plainsboro!

5 stars for a Indian buffet… Crazy right? No, not crazy in the least as Jhopri was that good. Located in the old A&G spot and very tastefully decorated with comfortable banquettes, tufted wall panels in greys, golds and blues the restaurant appears light, airy and not overly done. The Buffet starts with a condiment table with the usual chutneys and chaats but also offered a very tasty whole grilled pepper, lime chutney and savory red chili pepper paste which made me believe that this was not going to be your standard tamed south Asian buffet. I was proved right as the line of offerings like a deeply braised lamb in a aromatic cumin masala, Goa fish curry, lime scented grilled chicken, paneer and tofu in a rich tomato curry with just enough peppers to make you believe in the chef’s vision, sauteed eggplant and potatoes with a light onion based sauce, a thick and flavorful lenten pea dahl and a creamy and tart mango custard… and the list goes on. The kitchen layered the flavors correctly and every dish stood alone instead of just blending into one curry flavored carbo load as most Indian buffet tend to. Every table received a pair of light and airy potato stuffed Puris and a basket of steaming hot Naans. A nice touch. BYOB but with a bar already set up in their renovations a liquor license might be forthcoming. Service was quick and efficient and management was obviously delighted with the many compliments received as satisfied diners departed. Jhopri has raised the bar for not only Indian Buffets but judging from their slick and well composed menu every Indian restaurant as well. I think I’ll be a regular.

Their lunch buffet is amazing. Affordable, authentic, and high quality, this is truly the best lunch deal for miles around. Free and fresh, piping hot naan comes with the meal. They have a lot of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options for the appetizers and main dishes. I’ve really enjoyed the chickpeas at the salad bar, the fried spinach balls, the paneer masala, aloo gobi, and gulab jamun. They always check on their food and it’s never left out there to sit for hours. The food is also well-heated; the last time I was there, the gulab jamun was heated very well, a relief from gummy, lukewarm versions at other Indian buffets. They rotate their selections every day, which is wonderful and definitely encourages us to go back every week! The friendly service and sleek interior doesn’t hurt either. I’m so glad we have Jhopri in the area!

Jhopri is the perfect addition to the Village of Plainsboro. Owners of this restaurant as well as Cross Culture in Princeton, they know how to consistently provide a delicious Indian meal. I have ordered take out once and just had their lunch buffet. $ 12 is a great deal for a variety of dishes which changes on a daily basis. Many of the Indian buffets I know are stuck in a rut offering the same dishes every day. This place consistently adds and removes items to keep the buffet intriguing. Décor is amazing on the inside. You would never know from the unassuming outside. Service was subtle and always right there.

I recommend trying Jhopori at lunchtime first. That’s so you can sample the many amazing, delicious Indian dishes they prepare, and decide which one you might like to have for dinner sometime. At $ 12pp, it’s a great value, given the variety, excellent service, and quality of the food. I would recommend the Lamb Saagwala and the Spicy Chicken — both delicious and both gluten free(as are most dishes at Jhopori). While this spacious restaurant sits at the end of the Plainsboro Center mall, the interior décor is anything but«mall-like». In fact, it’s quite nice, possibly even romantic in the evening. There are many decent Indian places to choose from in Central NJ, but this is surely one of the best.

I have been anxiously awaiting the opening of Jhopri since I first heard about it. The owners of Jhopri also own Cross Culture down Harrison St. in Princeton which is a great Indian restaurant! I came to Jhopri with some vegetarian friends and for vegetarians there are a lot of options. I chose the Tandori Chicken as my entrée which came out very hot, so much that it was smoking at the table. The chicken was accompanied by onions, peppers and rice. The table ordered some paneer for our appetizer, naan and roti to share. The ambience is unique and not expected from a restaurant in Plainsboro. The colors used are blue and gold, very exotic looking. I felt like I was in an Indian restaurant in the city, not in suburbia. My only complaint is that the restaurant was cold! The heat could have been turned up a few degrees. The owners are so nice! My friend frequents both Cross Culture and now Jhopri and they brought out the royal treatment to our group by making items that were not even on the menu and giving us a free dessert(Gulab Jamun)! I love supporting local businesses, especially when the workers are willing to go above to make the experience enjoyable.
