I was in town for a special event, and wanted something better than I could do myself with my hair. The salon was convenient, and I needed a very low-risk service, so thought i’d give them a shot. The take-away here is that the place is not high end. I did not find it dirty, just showing some age. The ladies were friendly and courteous, I enjoyed chatting with them. The salon was fine for the blowout I asked for, maybe a quick bang trim if I find myself needing one while in town in the future, but it’s not up to the level of sophistication or style I expect for my regular salon services. That said, they are nowhere near as expensive either.

The plus side: friendly, courteous service, inexpensive. Got a very good eyebrow and lip wax here. The down side: it’s dirty and a bit run-down. When I went in for my wax, the towel on the chair was COVERED with other people’s hair. The aesthetician did change it very cheerfully when I asked, not an ounce of attitude. Other surfaces in the salon were also not very clean. I was afraid to put my purse down anywhere. The mani/pedi was very basic. The young lady who did mine was sweet and conscientious, but she could not do a French manicure, and the salon does not offer shellac — behind the times. The polishes are all old and too thick. So I don’t think it was the manicurist’s fault that the manicure isn’t that good; the owner should step up and clean up the place, replace old, worn-out stuff, and keep her stock current. I wouldn’t go back for a mani/pedi, but I would go back for a wax … provided they’re willing to change the towels.

I’ve lived in the Princeton area for several years and have consistently gone to Mod Salon. I can only speak for Shalini’s services, but that being said she has always done a good job. I have long hair and usually get highlights and styling(bangs, face-frame, etc.) I also get eyebrow threading. It’s always come out as i wanted and her prices are extremely reasonable(plus there are usually always coupons on the salon’s website). I tried one or two other salons in the area and found them to be overpriced and unremarkable. I’m sticking with mod salon.

I’ve been coming here for probably about 9 years now, ever since I lived nearby. I no longer live in Plainsboro but I continue to go out of my way to go to Mod Salon. The people are always friendly, and I am always please with my haircut. I am a man with a fairly simple hairstyle, but I still think they do a good job. Reasonably priced, good service and friendly people, so I recommend.

when I took my husband here to get a haircut, I saw this place was totally empty. I should have taken that as a red flag, I have never been to a worse salon– domestically or overseas. Our stylist took an unreasonably long time, and every few snips she took, She went to ask me «is this ok?. the manager at the desk is antisocial and making payment to him was made difficult because of it. the worst part? haircut came out terribly, and it cost 32 dollars. I could have gone to Greatclips across the street and paid 12.99 for the same cut and better service
