This place is okay. They have a good selection of yarn at competitive prices, but there is nothing spectacular about the place. I have to admit that I LOVED their selection of needles. If anything, I would return to purchase some of those. They also have a huge selection of buttons that I know Long Islanders will enjoy, but I was not really impressed by those either because I make my button/handle purchases from M and J on Sixth Avenue. The woman who was there was very friendly and gave me a card with the website to check out the classes being offered. Would I return? Maybe if I were in the area, but I wouldn’t make a special trip there.

I came to Yarn Garden as a first time knitter, with no background knowledge of the craft. The workers here were so kind and patient, and taught me for free! They were so accommodating and even let me come back in to help me as I continued my project COMPLETELYFREE. I was so pleasantly surprised by their willingness to help me and their constant praise of my work. I now have a beautiful scarf(which I’ve received so many compliments on!) thanks to their help and wonderful display of yarn, needles, etc. I have already returned and will be sure to again in the future.

I have come here twice and never had a bad experience. The staff was wonderful. I loved that they greeted me and did not hover over me in the store. They gave me time to look around and decide what I needed. They ordered me help and answered all my questions with great knowledge and a warm smile. Support small business! It’s very important :)

I have been going there for a few months and I LOVE it. The staff are do helpful and I have learned so much from them. It’s a welcoming place that I look forward to visiting weekly. They have an excellent selection of good quality yarns that are reasonably priced. Very glad I found this place. My knitting has improved so much with their free instruction.

Ugh, I will not be returning here! When I walked in, the store was empty but all I got from the staff was a bored, uninterested hello. The two employees were so busy doing nothing that I had to ask to be rung up! As far as the selection, the yarns they carry are drab and as far as just basic yarns I expect a well stocked yarn store to carry, there is almost nothing. It seems like the purchaser for the store actually TRIED to buy the weirdest little yarns in the most uninspiring colors. The layout of the shop is also weird and uninviting. I will be taking my business elsewhere from now on, you should probably do the same.

Not overly impressed. Decent selection of yarn and a wide variety of notions(especially buttons), but not as attentive as I had hoped. I hate to say anything bad about the store, but I always feel like I’m inconveniencing the staff… they’re usually busy with the«regulars» sitting around the table in the back of the store. It’s a shame really, they seem nice and helpful, but tend to forget you’re there after initially greeting you when you walk in. I wish they carried Malabrigo, then I might be more inclined to make an effort working with this store… unfortunately they don’t and I now buy yarn elsewhere.

Went here once and never again. Last time I was there, the store was old and unwelcoming. The staff ignored me and catered to people who were obviously regulars. The store set-up is not customer-friendly. They basically had one hank or ball set out as a sample and you had to ask for the color and quantity you needed. Most of the stock seemed to be in a back room or basement.
