I was a huge fan of the now closed Bistro Citron in Roslyn. Luckily this restaurant is owned by the same owners and they have some of my favs from the old Bistro. I’ve been here a few times and my entrees have always been delish, service can be spotty though. Mussels are a must if you come here. Make sure to save some bread for dipping, you will be happy you did. My only complaint was the chocolate mouse that we had for dessert. Honestly, it’s a French restaurant, their chocolate mousse should be awesome, but really it was average at best. We left and ended up going to a different French restaurant to grab some awesome chocolate mousse for dessert. It was that unsatisfying. Overall you can’t go wrong with the food here, just skip the mousse.

I really thought it would be a nice quiet place to go for dinner with an old friend. Having been up all night after asking for decaf coffee and clearly given regular I am still shaking. Even if that had not happened, the sole which i ordered with a request of no seasoning or butter came drenched in salt, and other seasons as well as butter. Now i know why the place was empty.

The food was wonderful. Especially enjoyed the grilled octopus and the hanger steak frites. However, the service staff were awful. Granted, we were there the evening before Thanksgiving, and by our waitresses own admission, none of them wanted to be there. Service was abrupt(to be kind) and careless. My brother-in-law had to admonish the server for literally throwing plates on the table. He apologized, but the point is, most of the servers and bus people were rude. The restaurant was about half full so there was no need for the plate throwing and rushed pace. Would we eat here again? Yes, but only because of the quality of the food. Thom H.

Wonderfully charming! This Restaurant has an classical french look, charming designs and elegant little touches make this feel very homely and warm. The food is moderately priced for decent portions; However the plates are outstanding! Amy was our server and was extremely friendly and down to earth. Ryan, the manager, paired our meals with wines and did an excellent job. Friendly Service, Amazing Food, and Charming Atmosphere made the entire experience is simply wonderful. Please go take someone special when you eat here.

I had no idea a place like this could exist in Plainview. If you’re driving by, you’ll probably miss it. My friend and I decided to visit this place after reading amazing Unilocal reviews and had to call them to make sure this was a real place. The interior design of this restaurant is a complete contrast to its exterior; the interior is reminiscent of France, while the exterior is your typical strip mall restaurant. We got to sit outside during brunch time; take advantage of it while you can. The bread they provide is amazing as well as the entrée. I got the Sandwich Bouchere; the sandwich and fries were both perfect.

Food is fantastic. Service is good(could be better). Seems like the staff can get overwhelmed from the crowds that come for this delicious food. The duck is definitely a «go to» dish. The pork chops are also fantastic. Not much of a fan of the pork medallions which I had on my most recent visit but, almost always I leave having a great meal.

The food is phenomenal, service is always great, and this adorable restaurant makes you feel like you’re in a restaurant in Paris. The manager Ryan is always very accommodating. This is definitely a top notch restaurant. Five stars!

I was there on Friday night with a friend… Great food and service! Ambiance of the restaurant was perfect as well. The waitress Ingrid was very attentive and very friendly and knew what items to recommend. We decided to start with the mussels Provencal which were delicious, the red sauce was perfect. We both decided to go for the cheeseburger for our main dishes and they were perfectly seasoned/cooked. I will definitely be back!

I came in on Friday with my boyfriend and we were both very pleased with our meals! We started out with their escargot which had the best flavor and texture. Then he had the tuna tartare and I had the salmon dish, which our waitress Ingrid recommended. We were both so glad we went with her recommendations because they did not disappoint! The salmon was cooked perfectly and the dish had so much flavor. I would definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for some great French food with excellent service!

Good food, good service and good atmosphere! I had the tuna tartar for the appetizer, which was favorite part of the meal ! It was served over cucumbers and had tomatoes as well. Very nice taste ! For dinner I had the grilled chicken and chopped salad(which wasn’t really chopped). The chicken. Was very thin, but was good. I had the fries swapped out with fresh vegetables. I would recommend this place… it’s in a strip mall, and may not have eaten there if it wasn’t recommended to me !

1. Octopus salad– pass. What in the world. It was oily and way too much going on. Did not find this to be flavorful at all. And the server had recommended it. 2. Escargot– Oyy vey. I’ve had some really tasty escargots and … this doesn’t cut it. Do yourself a favor. Pass on this appetizer. 3. Pan fried porkchop– What a mistake. No flavor and the meat was done well past medium. It hurt to chew the meat. 4. Oysters– probably the only thing they got right. 5. We ordered 2 of their specials of the day. Boy do I regret bringing my parents here. On Father’s Day. 6. The servers were so rude. We had to ask several times for items. The food came out late. And they chuck the plate settings at you. Nice. I don’t understand where these boasting reviews are from because the day I ate at this restaurant is the day I decided the restaurant scene is dead in Long Island.

Second time in 2 years I have been here and both times had a nice experience. We went on a Tuesday night so it was not packed but had a good crowd for a typically slow restaurant night. I had the Tuesday night special Coq Au Vin. The sauce was outstanding and the chicken was juicy. They even have big chunks of smoked bacon in the sauce(You can’t go wrong with that!). The roast chicken was also very good. They have a small but good wine listing. The service was efficient and professional. Check out the daily specials on the website. Monday is Moules Monday. Choice of mussels, glass of wine or beer and fries for $ 23. I’ll try that out next time, hopefully sooner than 2 years!

Brasserie Cassis has been one of my favorites for a very long time and I was afraid that it had started to decline. That was my bad. My most recent experience was almost flawless. Service was impeccable and the food served was as good as could be. As soon as we sat down, great baguettes were brought to the table along with pâté and butter. As fast as I finished one it was replaced. My water glass was never allowed to go below half before it was refilled. The menu hasn’t changed over the years — moderately priced French themed food. We ordered standard French bistro meals — onion soup, roast chicken, hanger steak with peppercorn sauce. Everything was prepared and served perfectly.(Really juicy chicken with crisp skin — steak a perfect medium rare.) I couldn’t believe how good everything was. I am truly happy to give 5 Unilocal stars to Brasserie Cassis — it truly deserves them.

I want to love this place but I can’t. I have had some decent meals here, its close to home and I love the atmosphere. But it seems something always gets in the way of a perfect experience. The wife and I looked forward to drinks and a great dinner last night… drinks were good, place was hopping. Had 8:45 reservations, had to wait till 9:15 or so but no big deal, as I said drinks were good. Had my heart set on mussels, the wife on the duck tacos and a chop. Tacos were very good, a little dry. Chop was OK(next time provide a steak knife not a butter knife to cut the chop). Mussels good as well… here is where Brasserie Cassis derailed. One of the reasons I get mussels is so I can dip bread in the broth(as does my wife as she does not eat the mussels). We asked for bread 3 times with our mussels with no response, no one ever returned with bread or a reason why we could not have bread. It was only when our table was being cleared that we were informed that it was a busy night and the restaurant ran out of bread. OK I get it, they ran out of bread! But how about the respect of telling me so I don’t eat my entire dinner anticipating bread that was never to be. In the end what really burns me up is the The Bakery and Shop Rite are less than 300 feet away from Brasserie Cassis, both stocked with more bread than a Wonderbread factory. You would think someone would run to Shop Rite and get a loaf???

I recently treated my bridesmaids to brunch here a few weekends ago. I’ve dined here for dinner twice before, and this was my first time having brunch here. You should absolutely get the steak salad. I did not order one but it was my other choice. 3 others ordered it at the table though, and it was fantastic! Slices of juicy steak cooked to your preference over field greens and a wonderful vinaigrette dressing. I will get this next time! Service was attentive, the ambiance was quiet for a Saturday afternoon, but it was lovely nonetheless, as I got to ask my girls to be my bridesmaids! It was great all-around.

What a quintessential French Brasserie. The café chairs, large windows, and even the bathrooms. Their ambiance is spot on. Cassis has a reasonably priced lunch menu where you can have a half of a sandwich and salad. The fries that come with it are very crispy and good. The spinach crêpe was ok, nothing to write home about, but with the french décor and the lunch specials, I would highly recommend

The food was very good, the noise level not so much. Maybe they are trying to replicate a real French Bistro with the patrons shouting to be heard and the noise bouncing off all the hard surfaces. I have a better idea, serve the same food but throw on some sound deadening material throughout the restaurant and it would be much more of an elegant experience. If you are hearing impaired or wear your earplugs then there is a lot to enjoy here. We started off with the mussels which was a large enough portion to share for an appetizer for 5 people. Menu seemed to be slanted toward fish but that was fine because we all ordered fish and it was done perfectly. Sole, Sea Bass, Shrimp and Tuna Steak were the dishes we had. All very good. Service was excellent and not intrusive. The noise level was.
