Residence Inn By Marriott

I came here for business so did not take much time to enjoy the space but I was overall pretty favorably inclined towards this place. The rooms are fine, nothing extravagant but clean and comfy. Perhaps a bit dated but that is no crime. It’s in a reasonable location on Long Island. They have a very nice outdoor pool area and an indoor lap pool too.
The complimentary breakfast was solid; eggs, bacon, breakfast sandwiches, a waffle bar, all the usual fixings. Nothing too fancy but well done over all. Good enough service with friendly folks.
Certainly a nice enough place to stay.

Initially I was a little turned off by the looks of this hotel, which are a little dated. However, I have been blown away by all of the other aspects here! I travel for a living and stay in hotels for months at a time, so I feel confident saying that this hotel’s quality is leaps and bounds above most of what you will find.
First off, the food. Contrary to some of the other reviews on here, I’d say the food selection is much more extensive & tastier than other extended-​stay type hotels (ie Staybridge Suites, Homewood Suites, etc). Breakfast provides a huge selection, and everything is of a high quality and great flavor. You won’t find the dry (or watery!) powdered eggs & suspicious looking sausage here. I’ve found everything to be consistently fresh and well prepared. Dinner is complimentary Sunday through Thursday (most hotels only offer monday-​wednesday), and it’s excellent. They offer a wide range of foods and always have fresh veggie sides and healthy options, which is great for extensive traveling.
Second, the staff is fabulous. I haven’t met anyone yet, from the management to housekeeping, that isn’t sincere and professional. They are always willing to help and are extremely friendly.
Next, the rooms are pretty typical. BUT, the closets are huge! Lots of space for storage. Overall, the rooms are pretty quiet. You may be able to hear some things next door (like a phone ringing or the TV on), but the hallways are quiet.
WiFi is free and quick.
Laundry is $ 1.75 for a load, which is pretty typical for a hotel.
The fitness center offers a good amount of equipment, and there is also an indoor pool.
Pet policy — pets are allowed, and there is a nice dog trail outside. This is really important for the area, since Plainview doesn’t offer a lot in terms of grass and trees for dog walking.
So, overall I feel that the staff and management does everything they can to make their guests feel comfortable. Even though the decoration is stuck in the 90’s, I would certainly choose to come back!

This review is for the use of one of their conference rooms, and not an overnight stay.
Attended a Continuing Education Course at the hotel using one of the conference rooms. Layout was clean, and the room was well furnished for the class. They provided a continental breakfast (coffee, muffins) and a lunch of wraps, both of which were pretty good. They have a small store up front run from the front desk for snacks and other small items. To me the parking lot is kind of small for event hosting, but I got a ride so it wasn’t an issue to me. Entrance is off the main road, so you have to know where you are going.

Just so you know, there is nothing in walking distance. I did not have a car here so I was stuck. Free wifi, which is very important to me. They provide free dinner and breakfast. Dinner was not good but it was free so I don’t want to look a gift horse in the mouth. Breakfast was typical with waffle bar but condiments are all over so you have to walk the room a bit, but it’s free.
I presented I the hotel and the audio and video was great. I would be happy to present here again!

Wow. This was a pretty bad experience. They do not seem to train their employees very well. When we arrived and went up to our room, we walked into an occupied room. Thank god that person was not in the room. That made us a bit concerned for our safety because if the front desk gave someone with ill intentions the wrong keys, who knows what would have happened. Then, they gave us directions to the men’s fitness center instead of the women’s. Then when we checked out, they told us they didn’t know how to print our bill (…really?). The hallways were dirty and the walls are super thin. Nice that they have free breakfast and dinner, but won’t ever stay there again after walking into someone else’s room. Oh, and there are no safes in the rooms.

PROS
The rooms are decent, the complimentary meals are great, wifi is fast. The front desk help is wonderful.
CONS
There are a lot of people who have extended stays here who are very rude.
If you hold meetings here, the ceiling is glass in the Solarium room and you can hear the firehouse sirens a lot, same with planes overhead and the rain on the roof. There also isn’t room for a Registration area

I am booked here for six weeks (Business) five days in and I will be looking for another place to finish out my work here in New York. All other reviews are accurate, mon-​thur. comp breakfast and dinner are decent even fair to say better than other Residence inn’s however the parking is horrible and to make matters worse they will close the parking lot for «maintenance» Guests are not allowed to use the outdoor pool, the indoor pool is a lap pool and the spa is empty for repairs. I want to sit outside and read a book by the pool and the staff said «we had a staff meeting and agreed guests are not allowed to be out there» REALLY? I asked to use the grill and was told «No» only the «Chef» is allowed to use the grill. What Residence inn doesn’t allow the guests to sit out side or use the grill? If you just need a place to stay for a day or two it’s not bad I do not recommend any kind of long term stay. I would suggest Happauge as a better choice, food is not as good but at least you are allowed to sit out side and use the grill. I’m outta here!

Probably in the top 3 nicest hotels I’ve been to. I’ve been in maybe 5 rooms here and they were all nice and spacious. People complain about having to cross the street to park. That is a ridiculous complaint. There’s always ample parking space in the second lot. They have a snack area that’s open all night and their pool and pool area is really nice looking. The free continental breakfast is among the best I’ve ever had, It’s certainly above average, and eating while looking out at the pool area makes me feel like I’m off of Long Island, which is a good thing. Definitely one of my favorite hotels I’ve been to.

Everyone wrote how wonderful the hotel is yet gave it a horible rating based on parking! Well here’s a tip for you about parking. If you park at 875 Old country rd and pull into the back parking lot, there is a gate leading to the hotel. After business hours you can park there! Short walk to the door.

The hotel itself is clean, the suite we had was very spacious in size, with full refrigerator, sink, dishwasher, dishes, etc., though our fridge did have an annoying gurgling sounds throughout the night! The beds themselves were so-​so, not that comfortable, and felt the double bed was rather small.
The walls were also very thin, as we could hear every sound outside and upstairs, making it a bit hard to sleep.
Their complimentary breakfast was decent, with a good range of items (e.g., eggs, frenchtoast, oatmeal, etc).
I agree with the OP that their main parking lot is quite small, so we had to park in the lot across the street.

The best manager’s dinner ever — healthy homecooked meal, and complementary beer and wine.
The only downside of this place is it has limited parking, but you just walk across the street and there is overflow parking.

Hotel itself is okay. Parking is a huge problem. You can tell the hotel is very dated. Service was very good though.

I have stayed here a couple times because every time I am in town on business the other hotels are sold out. The rooms are clean but the parking situation is pretty bad, the complimentary breakfast is nothing special (not bad, not good), and the showers are weird plastic pod-​like structures that are difficult to explain. The rooms have wall-​mounted AC/​heater units which seem to always be cycling on and off and there are various other sources of noise including an odd gurgling sound coming from my refrigerator — even two hours after unplugging it! Bring your earplugs if you stay here.

Stayed here this weekend for a wedding and although the price was right there were some things that were lacking. When making the reservation the person I spoke to on the phone let me know we’d have access to a cot (there were a few of us) since we would be staying in a King suite. There were no cots available. We were arriving early and called to see if an early check-​in was possible and were given a curt «no» and a hang up. Luckily when we arrived they were able to get us in. Major plus to the nice woman at the front desk– friendly, accomodating and very quick to help us!

We did a block of rooms for our wedding at this location, and were given a very competitive rate. Upon arriving at 1:30am, the friendly person working at the front desk congratulated us and invited us to get a complimentary drink from the café. Once we opened the doors to our suite, a chilled bottle of champagne welcomed us on the dining room table. The room was bright, clean and very inviting. Our king sized bed was very comfortable, and after a previous evening of restlessness and a day of running around and stuffing my face with food and drink, sleep came easily and deliciously.
Someone here mentioned the lack of food at the complimentary breakfast. The arrangement of food, even for someone walking in after 930, was plentiful, especially the waffles made from the waffle maker! We definitely need a reason to come back and take advantage of all of the amenities!

I have been here before for a business meeting and the stay was ok. This trip was also for business, but the stay was a lot different.
The room next to me had a dog and the dog was howling all day and night. I requested another room and was told none were available…
It was ridiculous… I would not recomend if you are looking for a hotel to actually SLEEP in.

Decent hotel for what I was looking for, which was something convenient to all of Long Island, something that wasn’t gross, unsafe, or would break the bank– as far as Marriotts go, this one lives up to standards and doesn’t shame the brand.
However, parking is a problem, as is their lack of wireless internet (seriously?) the morning complimentary breakfast was lacking and some of the room facilities, particularly the showers, were just bizarre.

I have stayed at 2 other Residence Inn’s before. This is the worst. It is located in a very congested area right off the Seaford/​Oysster Bay express way. It is hard to locate and if you are not lucky enough to get a parking spot in their small lot out front, you have to park across the street in their overflow lot. Inside the rooms are nice. The Lobby area is small and always overcrowded. They have banquet/​event rooms so the do tend to attract a crowd looking to hold a function. If you are looking for a place to stay long term this is not the place. It is just too crowded and noisy. I recommend the Homewood suites in Melville. It is much quieter and has great free food included. It is also more expensive.
