I am a customer of Salon Hype. I always go for haricoloring & face framing highlights to Nicole. She is truly an excellent colorist & has a very warm personality. I have been traveling to East Northport for a haircut when I live very close to Salon Hype, I decided to try Jon who together with Jason own Salon Hype. Jon listened to my problems with my hair — cowlicks & thick hair. Jon gave me an awesome haircut. The hair style that he gave me stayed in for four days which is a record for me. Besides being a fantastic hairstylist, he is a really great guy. Also he is very handsome but he is taken. You must try this salon. It is amazing.

I was looking for a new salon when moved to the area. I can’t even begin to tell you all the amazing things this salon has to offer. First most importantly $ 20 blowouts Tues-​Friday with any stylist, and $ 20 on Saturday with junior stylist! A few amazing shoutouts: Natalie, Michelle, Alyssa, and Jessica are few of the amazing people that have done my hair. Other shout outs to Jennifer, and Sara also! Give it try, highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a new salon.

Jon knows how to cut men’s hair. End of story. Jon has been cutting my hair on and off for 5+ years and I always get the best cuts with him. I’ve been to top barber’s in NYC that cut the hair of models, NY Rangers players, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and many other celebrities but I get my best cut with Jon at Salon Hype. Show him a picture a celebrity that has a good cut and he will best it. Guaranteed.

Visited this salon for the first time today and I am so glad I did. After going to another salon and leaving unhappy due to an balayage gone wrong I landed at hype from a friend referral. I was lucky enough to get an appointment with John who is also the owner and a DOLL! He knew exactly what I was talking about and took his time with me. My hair color is beautiful. I have never walked out of a salon feeling 100% satisfied like I did today. John is amaaaaazing!

What an amazing place. Very energetic. Great atmosphere. My girl loved it the moment we walked in. Greeted by the owner with a smile and within minutes we felt like we knew them forever.
Once she was done, she walked out looking amazing and the 1^st thing she said was I’m definitely coming back. They did everything perfect and beyond what expected. After seeing the look on her face I recommend this place to anyone.

I went to see my friend Nicole for some Fall/​Winter color! (goodbye blonde). The salon was beautiful, and very clean, first impression is everything! Receptionist was very welcoming and sweet. Assistant gave a great hair wash! We did a red/​magneta color in my hair which Im absolutely am obsessed with! The sylists were wonderful and do such an amazing job! I highly recommend Salon Hype. I will be a dedicated client for sure. Thanks:)

Probably one of the worst haircuts of my life. The stylist I had for years moved and I needed to find a replacement. I am very picky about who cuts my hair so when I saw all the positive reviews I thought I had found a new hair home. Was I ever wrong.
As soon as I walked through the door I felt an instant coldness. There was no one at the reception desk and two stylists were chatting in the lobby chairs. They looked annoyed that a client actually walked in.
My stylist was aloof and acted as though she wanted to be anywhere else but there. I was growing out an undercut and instantly she said she didn’t do those and never uses buzzers. I should have known then. I showed her several pictures and she started cutting.
My hair is the type of hair that you need to put product in it to give a final assessment of the cut. Once she put in the product and styled it I was horrified. I cried all the way home.
When I really looked at the cut in the mirror I saw that she didn’t clean up the back of my hairline which is a must with short hair. Maybe because she didn’t know how to use buzzers. Hmmm.
After a few weeks I was able to style it so it wasn’t hideous. But I will never go back. Terrible experience!

I went in to donate my hair and take off about 8 inches. I was super nervous about going from long to super short hair. First off, I called and they immediately allowed me to come in without an appointment. Natalie cut and glazed my hair and it came out beautiful! I highly recommend Hype and Natalie!

Ever since moving to Long Island from Queens about 4 years ago I have struggled to find a barber or stylist that knows what they are doing, and actually listens to what the customer wants. Finally after a long search I found Salon Hype about a year ago. They are a full service salon with an upscale feel and their pricing is very reasonable. Although it seems their clientele are mostly women, men should not hesitate to become a customer as you always feel welcome and the talent here is top notch.
I have been going to Jon for over a year now and he knows exactly what i’m looking for and exceeds expectations every time. Jon not only knows what the current trends are, he starts his own trends. Although I have had the same haircut for the past twenty years I just recently took Jon’s advice and let him take creative control. He gave me a new style that I constantly get compliments on. I couldn’t be happier with the level of service, talent, pricing, and availability. I have also seen Nicole when Jon may not be around and her work is just as good.
If you are looking for a fantastic cut, excellent service, and moderate pricing for an upscale salon, Salon Hype is the place to go.

Great job. Nice salon. Loved my hair. Definitely would recommend. I called at the last minute and the owner was nice enough to schedule me in. You could go to any of the stylists they are all good.

First time at this salon. I have fine straight hair and needed a hair cut that would be stylish and simple. Nicole knew exactly the right length that would look good as well as cutting side bangs that were perfect. I am very happy with how it looks. Everyone is very friendly. All my future hair needs will be done with Nicole.

They were awesome!
The owner of the salon is very friendly, I had a blow out and it was amazing! I would definitely come back.
Bring tip money with you, you can’t tip with your cc.
They have makeup artist so you can get your hair done and make up!
Two things that could be better:
1– the place could be a little cleaner — it’s not nasty but it could definitely use a little dusting and a mop, just s tiny bit I’m a clean freak.
2– it’s very darkening there — so I would not feel comfortable cutting my hair.

I’ve been coming to this place for about a year and a half and I have to say, I have never been disappointed!
I have to give a big shout out to Jessica she is unbelievable at what she does. I have insanely curly, frizzy hair and she always manages to get it wonderfully straight.
But yesterday topped everything, I was ready for a drastic haircut and I left my hair fate in her hands and she did a wonderful job. She cut off the perfect amount and I couldn’t be happier!
Also this place has great prices, if you go on Tuesday-​Thursday it’s $ 20 blowouts, can’t get much better than that!

I needed a new salon and after reading reviews on Unilocal I decided on Salon Hype and Nicole. I’m so happy I did! Nicole took the time to look at my hair ask me what I wanted and gave me a great haircut and blow out! Not only is the haircut great she is the sweetest girl and made me feel so comfortable.

I just got my hair cut and colored at this place by Nicole, and it’s probably the best haircut and color that I’ve ever gotten. I called the day of on a Saturday and they still fit me in, and she knew exactly what I wanted without me having to try to explain it to her.
I have really thick, wavy hair, and a lot of it so its really hard to manage and it took her forever to blow dry, but she didn’t do a half-​assed job like I’ve gotten in the past. For the color, I have very dark brown, almost black hair, and she did a great hand-​painting (balayage) on me with medium and light brown tones to make it took sun kissed and natural, not the weird streak-​y highlights that I hate. Overall, I would recommend this place to everyone and will be coming back!

I’ve never written a review before but I feel like this one is long overdue. I went into the salon looking to find a new place to get my hair cut since I am new to the area. As soon as I went in, I was warmly welcomed and brought back to be shampooed. My hairstylist Michelle was so great and gave me a lot of good tips on how to get my hair to grow. Over the last few months, I have been back to see Michelle multiple times and each time gets better than the last. Not only has my hair grown tremendously with her advice, but she always remembers everything that I said from each previous visit and will always ask me about the things going on in my life which is great because I think it shows that you care about your client. I would Defiantly recommend the salon, especially going to see Michelle.

Maybe a great place for women’s cuts from the other reviews but a no-​no for the guys. I saw they did men’s cuts from their website and walked in and got the worst cut of my life. The staff was cold, unwelcoming and just plain rude. My cut was over in less than 5 minutes, no particular care or interest was given by the stylist and within a week it was a mess. Apparently the owner (Jon) wasn’t in on that day. Well quite a first time disappointment for me. Not going back here ever! Cost — It’s cheap. $ 20 a cut is barely anything.
Update: It’s been a month since I went there and been trying to let my hair grow out so I can get a better cut elsewhere. Portions of my hair was cut so poorly and unevenly and being an individual in the design industry, this was particularly embarrassing and crushed my confidence to a certain level in presenting myself to potential clients.

Good blow out at a great price. Friendly staff. The stylist was quick and adept. (Sara) The shampoo was only so-​so, didn’t ask if I wanted a second wash or a cool rinse. The sink wasn’t cleaned before I sat down. Who wants to have their hair washed in a sink with soap crud or some one else’s hair in it? The brush used by the shampooist didn’t look like it had been cleaned before me either. Only saw it afterward. I liked the stylist, but no excuse for lack of cleanliness. I hope they improve it as I would like to be able to go back there.

This salon is lovely, women will love the Décor! It’s clean, modern and feels comfortable, so you feel relaxed while you are getting serviced. I have been here twice for haircuts, based on a close friend’s recommendation. I was NOT disappointed!!! Jon cut my hair, he is so nice and he knows what he’s doing, Trust Me, I have had bad haircuts in my younger days. I have come out of here looking and feeling BEAUTIFUL!!! And the prices are reasonable, I was able to go shopping afterwards, since I had $$$ in my wallet. Will definitely go back!!!

John has taken his dream and passion to new levels with Salon Hype ! I travel from Babylon and my daughter from NYC just to see John. Wouldnt let another person touch my hair!
