I’ve been shopping at this amazing gift shop for years. It’s truly magical experience when you walk in… everything is displayed so beautifully and what a selection of items… I have always been able to find gifts for family and friends that you just wouldn’t find in a corporate owned gift shop. It’s very obvious that it’s one special place. The ladies are always eager to help without hovering over you as you brows the store. The owner Fran is always a great help as it Shirley, Diane and all the other ladies. Don’t miss out on great and unique gift shopping… support local Also they package every purchase so beautifull along with gift wrapping(thank goodness I can’t wrap a gift to same my life… lol). Thumbs up to the old blue barn ‚!!!

I absolutely love shopping at the old blue barn I don’t know what these people are talking about when they say bad customer service, they always go above and beyond for me. If they don’t have something in their store they give me other stores to try or better yet call them for me to see if it’s their before I waste my gas/time. If I need something wrapped they do a excellent job everyone loves my gifts I give them. Try asking Walmart to wrap for you or acknowledge you for that matter. I get asked if I need help every time I stop in. The owner even bakes cookies and offers free coffee. I will always shop here it’s my goto store.

Cute little shop with a lovely selection but among the worst customer service I’ve encountered. Ranges from ignoring you to being out right rude. Won’t be back.

The Old Blue Barn is a family run business and has thrived on it’s loyal clientele. I’ve been going there for years, but I don’t purchase expensive stuff, so I’m clearly not keeping them in business. For those that feel they are stand-offish, I suggest you go back a few more times. The«staff» — owners, mostly — are just bustling around. They are part of the character of the business. My experience today was above and beyond what I expected. I purchased a dish towel for my aunt for Christmas and was asked if this was a gift and if I wanted a gift bag. It was a gift, so I said«yes», thinking it would be a nicer bag than the usual bag. Not even close! The pleasant saleswoman took the price tag off for me and actually wrapped the dish towel in a gift bag complete with ribbon and tissue paper! Great service — great store!

I am a huge advocate for shopping at small local owned businesses. Normally these places excel in their customer service leaving you with with feeling that your purchase matters. Today and in the past I did not receive that feeling from The Blue Barn. I live in this town and find the products they carry and the location make it a great option when searching for that very special gift. Here you will feel as though you have interrupted their day by visiting the store. The customer service is terrible and you feel as though your business does not matter. I simply wanted to find the perfect gift today and they didn’t even try to help me explore any options. I will admit I am one of those people who can be swayed or convinced to make a frivolous purchase, well they didn’t even try to make a sale. I would not recommend this place! I will not shop there again. There are plenty of quaint places in the Farmington Valley area that would love to have my business and there I shall go!

I’ve got to say, I was pretty excited about this place at first. I saw on the sign that they sold Chamilla beads and I was like NOWAY. so I went in and noticed that they have a lot of cute gifts and a pretty wide selection of Yankee candles. I was impressed wirh the Chamilla beads. Why the 2 stars you ask? It is the customer service. They are completely rude and unhelpful. They act like they are doing you a huge favor by showing you the beads and you can clearly hear huffing and puffing while they slowly walk over to you to help you. You could be spending 100’s of dollars and it will not matter, they make you feel like you are lucky they are even showing you their items. If you have questions you will get answers with sighs and they look at you as if you have two heads for even asking such things. Because of this I will not be going back. I will get my beads elsewhere like at the mall or on-line. I have no idea how they expect people to feel comfortable buying things from them if they are going to give attitude like that… it is kind of sad really. The place could be really cool if the staff didn’t suck.
