It really saddens me to write this review. I’ve literally been coming to Larry’s for over 50 years, since I was a little kid. We hadn’t been in a while and I wanted fried clams so off we went. What a disappointment, the clams we OK but the fries have lost their magic and what once were the best flaky/crispy onions rings anywhere are now stiff and pasty, not much better than frozen. My wife’s shrimp were also disappointing. I hate to say goodbye to a lifelong favorite but I won’t be back.

I love Larry’s. I went here with my parents when I was a kid, and it has not changed a single bit. Lobster rolls are awesome, fried clams are awesome, fries are awesome. It’s not state of the art, it’s an old style new england clam shack. A little weird that they don’t accept credit cards, but they have an ATM right in the building… Eat Clams!

Definitely a favorite place to go with my boyfriend, family, friends, etc! I’m a sucker for the clam strips, & I always get a plate or a basket, & share some chicken with my boyfriend. For being a seafood place, the fried chicken is so tasty! It’s crispy on the outside, but nice & juicy inside. The clam strips are yummy as well. I don’t often encounter overcooked clam strips there, so I’m generally pleased with them, which is why I ALWAYS order them. I will agree with others on some of the sides though. The onion rings are good, but the fries are always soggy.(I tried mashed potatoes once to try something else, & they were so bland!) The building itself is old, & the interior has not been updated in any way. I don’t mind it, & some older family members enjoy the fact that it’s stayed the same, but others may complain that it’s a little dull. The bathroom is small. There’s an old chicken thing that clucks & dispenses plastic eggs with little prizes inside them(i.e: stickers), & after a while, the clucking of the chicken can get obnoxious if there’s a kid with a lot of quarters. Overall, not a bad place. Nothing terribly fancy inside with darker, older décor, but I don’t mind it. The tables are usually clean, service is fine, & the food is good. I’d recommend it as a place to go, especially if you’re in a group.

Average-tasting clams in an ugly old building(or is it cool because it is old?). This place is good, but it doesn’t compare to the clam shops of Essex, MA and Ipswich, MA. Fries were a bit soggy, but o-rings were actually better than average. Lots of other things on the menu, but I’d stick to the clams.

I have been going here since I was a child. My grandparents would take me one weekend and my sister the next(since the two of us fought in the backseat of the car on the drive up from Lawrence). If you love greasy fried clams and scallops, this is the place for you. Some complain that the décor hasn’t been updated in years, but for me, that’s a big plus. I love the nostalgia of placing my order at one window and then waiting for my number to be called to pick up the food at another. If you’re not into seafood, try the fried chicken — it’s better than the Colonel’s by far. It’s good all around and you don’t have to drive all the way to the beach for good seafood.

Warning! Do not visit this establishment, unless u crave a pile of greasy food that will cause you instant stomach pains and a trip to there not so clean bathroom. Atmosphere is cheap and outdated. I would have rated this zero stars but that is not an option
