I decided to come to this restaurant yesterday for lunch with a few friends. We walked in and waited a moment for a host and then were seated. This is where it all started going south. I’m not sure if the waiter just didn’t want to be there or what, but he came over and in a very disgruntled manner asked what my two friends wanted to drink and then left, never even asking me. When he returned he gave us all water and still never even acknowledged me or the fact that he did not take my drink order. He also had brought chips for the table after a few minutes of us sitting there waiting. When we tried the chips, they were completely stale and unappetizing. Once he had brought the chips, he disappeared again until about ten minutes later when he took our order. This all while still having the attitude that we were a waste of his time. Once we ordered and the food came it was pretty good. Unfortunately not good enough to make up for the complete disregard that the service had shown. We eventually just paid the check and left, while still talking in disbelief on our experience. I would have given this a one star if it were not for the decent food quality. Hopefully this restaurant takes care of this issue.

I love the Red Chile Crusted Salmon & Ginger Rice and that’s the only reason I go to Blue Mesa anymore. This location has gone downhill. We sat for probably 10 minutes before our waiter came to our table. We had to ask for chips & salsa. Some of the chips were soft. The floor was filthy & our waiter didn’t appear to care about doing a good job. This location is at the Tollway &121& is surrounded by lots of new restaurants & the construction of new businesses is booming. Blue Mesa WILLNOT survive in this area if they don’t take more pride in their restaurant appearance & train their wait staff to do a better job & to act like they care about the customers. There’s too many new restaurants to choose from in this area & Blue Mesa is now just so-so.

It was descent for the price. We had reservations at 12. Showed up at 1155. Got seated at 1230. That’s the minus one. Fact is I had to go see hostess to let her know. Food is good. Drinks were good. All in all good spot. Just need the hostess to actually do her job and 5 out of 5

The food here is ok. Mimosas are weak, but unlimited. My biggest grievance is that their seating is *not* first come first serve. Today, we’ve been here for over 30 minutes waiting for a table while countless 4 tops, 5 tops, and 6 tops have walked right in and received a table immediately. Reservations, I understand. These tables were not tables with reservations. Hostess name was Sara. Awarding 3 stars only because our server, Rigo, was fantastic.

Only giving this a 3 because I didn’t dine in. I was there for the happy hour that includes free quesadillas. Tried them and they were not great. I love quesadillas, they are the one tex mex item I always like but I left some of it on the plate. The service was weird, we had 4 different servers during the 1.5 hrs I was there but it wasn’t a big deal for me since I wasn’t ordering anything. If I ever go back and dine in I’ll update my review.

It’s ok– I need to try the brunch, but as far as the menu… ehhhh. Just off a bit, not many options– just plain– I did however love and appreciated that the cheese dip was white!

Two stars for the service. Consistently terrible! My office has hosted several happy hours at this location and even then the service is piss poor! The food is incredible though. It’s too bad the service makes this a bad place to eat. My last visit, I called in a to go order. Phone rang THREE times before being answered! Person who picked up the phone did not sound enthusiastic. Hello people, no customers, no job! I’ll drive to the other locations and see how their service is! I’m sick of the service at this location!

My wife and I just went tonight to Blue Mesa Grille for the first time. My wife had the crab and shrimp enchalitas and I had the street tacos. We both top shelf margaritas. Maddy was our server. All was excellent. Quality of food and prompt and friendly service. We’ll done Maddy.

Pro Tip: Go during happy hour 4PM — 7:30PM Mon — Fri, order a drink and enjoy free food including quesadillas, chips and salsa. Atmosphere:(5⁄5) * It get crowded at happy hour, but that can’t be helped. The décor is modern and beautiful. Food:(5⁄5) * Everything was delicious that I tried. Next time I’m definitely coming here for the brunch special! The drinks are great as well. They know how to make a mojito! Staff:(3⁄5) * It was happy hour so during that time, expect less service. I had to literally chase them to pay my bill. Cleanliness:(5⁄5) * Everything was clean, water was filtered, bathroom was clean too. Good hang out spot: Perfect for co-workers to hang out after work if you work near the border of Frisco-Plano like I do.

Used to be a good spot, many years ago. I’ve been back to Dallas on business a few times recently and over the past couple of months, I have had two occasions to visit Blue Mesa — it is close to the corporate headquarters on Legacy and the hotels nearby, so convenient stop after a long day of work. The past two times, the food was average at best, service was slow and the staff seemed uninterested. The most recent experience is worth sharing as a caution to others. Ordered a marg, came out in a pint glass with ice, okay, nothing special. Ordered one more with the meal, this time, it was served in a shaker with a marg glass and the drink had a good tart/sweet/tequila balance — a much better drink. When I asked the waitress if she upgraded my order due to the slow service, she stated that the bartender made it right«this time, since the manager was around now». Perhaps explains why the food is not as good coming out of the kitchen as in years past … and definitely makes you lose trust in the bar. When you lose trust, you lose customers.

We went here on a Saturday night, with some family who came in from out of town(we totaled about 20). Needless to say, service wasn’t the best, but that’s to be expected so we weren’t terribly bothered by it. Our initial impressions were good, as the restaurant itself looks attractive. It has a modern feel and looked like a good spot to try. We were promptly seated(they hardly had guests at 6:30) and we were off to a hopeful start. Later– About six of our members didn’t receive silverware, some had to basically beg for straws, drink refills took too long, the list goes on. Again, to be expected, it happens with big groups. That’s not why they are getting one star– this food was terrible. I won’t say it was unanimous in a group of 20 people, but definitely an overwhelmingly negative opinion of the food. I assumed the food would be pretty good as I imagined the reason the menu was so very, very limited was because they specialized in a few items. Very wrong. If you prefer places with ample choices, this is definitely not for you. I don’t consider myself picky about food at all; I’ll eat just about anything. In all fairness, we were expecting Mexican food. Perhaps their signature dishes just didn’t appeal to us particularly as they hoped. With that, I would still advise one to consider other choices before venturing out to Blue Mesa. Fyi– I ordered the beef tenderloin chimichurri. Others around me order several different types of fajita plates. The meats were tasteless, and there isn’t a saltshaker around for miles. The beans were pretty widely disliked.

First, let me say that we have supported this Blue Mesa since the day it opened(literally). We owned a house very close to this location for 14 years and remember well when it opened. We were excited, because we wouldn’t have to drive to Addison to go to Blue Mesa anymore! We went at LEAST once per week for years until we finally moved to McKinney and didn’t get to go as often, although we still went quite a lot. We watched managers come and go… We had waiters and waitresses that knew our names, knew our drinks, watched our kids grow up… etc… So when we moved North, we still went as often as could for nostalgia’s sake. We wanted to continue loving our favorite restaurant even though things were obviously«slipping» through the years. Tonight will unfortunately be our last trip there. No more recommendations from us to friends(and we’ve given a LOT through the years). But alas, tonight was the final straw. First, they sat our family of five in a freezing corner of the bar with a fan blowing full blast(why on a 40 degree winter evening — I don’t know). Our entire family was freezing and I asked twice if they could turn the fan off. The waitress finally came over with a remote and pushed a button and said that would help. It didn’t do anything… so later she came by and I asked if she could try again because nothing happened the first time. She looked at me with a completely flat expression and literally said«is there anything else I can do for you?» and didn’t even try. Wow. So I just got up and pulled the cord myself to turn it off. Next, we had no napkins. No biggie, right? It happens, but usually gets fixed pretty quickly. I asked multiple times for napkins. Still nothing. Finally our appetizers came. No napkins. I got up and found our waitress and said, ‘we need napkins and silverware’ and she gives me BARNAPKINS — still no silverware. I had to ask one more time to actually get real silverware and napkins. Next, water. I asked for water fairly immediately. I asked again. I asked a third time. Our food comes. Still no water. Every time I asked, she had an excuse instead of an apology. By the time our water actually came(after we had begun eating!), we were all extremely thirsty. When I was a waiter as a younger man, water was the FIRSTTHING I always had to make sure was on anyone’s table. If someone had to ask for it, that was embarrassing enough — so I can’t even imagine being asked three times in a row and then AFTER the food comes! But obviously, it didn’t effect our waitress too much. Next, the actual food. First, she messed up the kids’ order. Also, she brought somebody else’s food to our table. But the food did come eventually. Their sweet potato chips used to be a huge draw. Now, the top thin layer is OK and the bottom ¾ of the bowl are literally crumbs. You can’t even pick them up with your fingers — you needed a spoon. I wish we had taken pics… The churrascaritas used to be our favorite dish. The chicken and steak were ok, but the shrimp was nothing like it used to be. It used to be huge shrimp pieces with an amazing glaze of spices, including cinnamon, etc… Now they were tiny and completely bland. The worst was the sausage. It was burned to a total charred crisp. We didn’t even eat it past one bite. Finally, the chimayo corn. We used to dream about that corn it was so good. Not anymore. The corn was barely cooked — it was like eating uncooked popcorn seeds! Terrible. So incredibly sad for us to watch this place slip so much. Finally the bill came… Of course, the waitress(accidentally?) charged us for our ‘complimentary’ chiliheads reward app(we bought other apps in addition to this one). Our waitress would not come back to the table(too busy with another waiter chatting outside) so I had to go find the manager to take that off of our bill. She was nice enough — we’ve seen her there for many years… we remember well when she first became the manager. I wish she had actually come to our table even once while we were there and we could have related some of the problems to her. But she didn’t. If I were the manager, I would have wanted to know. So sad to lose you, Blue Mesa. You used to be great. Now the service, the food, it’s all become something so far below your original standard. Makes me sad to write this review. I guess the next door Hilton may keep this place in business from now on, because I can’t imagine what else will. And this is all from a family who has arguably been there more than any other family I could imagine throughout the years!

Let me first start this review off with a positive by saying that the atmosphere here was great, it was clean and definitely very hip. However, I was unfortunately very unimpressed with my food as well as my service at Blue Mesa Plano, literally the only interaction our waiter had with us was taking our order and silently refilling our water, the food took quite a while to come out, and when it finally arrived it was underwhelming in flavor and texture. I also ordered a mojito which was tasty, but was clearly lacking a decent amount of rum. For the price per plate(and per drink), I expected better. My husband and I will definitely not be returning.

I had been eyeing this place from the Hilton next door and finally went in for lunch. I must say the ‘Perfect Tortilla Soup’ was pretty darn awesome! If that is not as close to perfect as you can get then I’m not sure what you are comparing it too. Not too salty and just he right amount of cheese and tortilla strips without weighing it down. I paired that with the corn crusted chicken salad which was also pretty good yet my mind kept lingering back to the soup. The bar looked inviting although I didn’t hang out. Seems like a great place for kids. If in the area on business and looking for some great American styled Mexican I highly recommend it.

Loved the mix of tortilla and sweet potato chips and choice of salsa as a starter. Everything was very flavorful and rich and had a great layered taste. I highly recommend the goat cheese cheesecake with candied nuts and strawberries!!!

$ 20 for a great brunch buffet that includes 3 champagne drinks and beverages. Great selection and awesome deal. The service was great and the food was very tasty. I liked the black bean corn cake thing especially. Would come back again for brunch, but it sounds like they have an awesome happy hour as well.

Ok let me start by saying that I didn’t have any food. I went to a happy hour with friends so I’m only reviewing the atmosphere and the drinks. First the atmosphere was ok. Nothing really that excited me about being there or returning. The drinks were average but the prices were decent. I’ll have to try it again to give it a better review.

My family and I visited Blue Mesa this morning for brunch. It’s the only brunch buffet we know about since Abuelo’s stopped doing it. I was overall disappointed. For the price paid($ 20/person), we definitely didn’t get our fill. I’m giving two stars instead of one because they took reservations and we were promptly seated. The salsa was good as was the chocolate flan. Lots of things seemed dry like they had been sitting in the chafing dishes for a long time. The meat was very bland. The guy in the omelette station was very good but there weren’t many options to choose from for filling. We all decided that we definitely won’t be back for brunch.

Right off the top, the best waiter at this location is Adrian, if anyone in management at this Blue Mesa is reading, give him a holiday bonus or something! My girlfriend and I have the Frisco/north Plano tex-Mex scene pretty locked down, where we rotate through a few places. But on the weekends we make it a point to take in brunch at this blue Mesa. To start, if you haven’t had their queso, you need to get on that right now. It’s the best, hands down. And if you are looking for a brunch to share with friends, this is the place! Just be aware that it can get busy, make sure and factor the church crowd in on Sunday, and you’ll be fine. My one complaint is that the kitchen needs to keep up with the brunch buffet… Just saying. You shouldn’t run out of anything and have to make more. The rush should be well anticipated and you should have more ready.

Worst experience of anywhere, anytime, I’ve ever been! Today was my birthday and my family traveled from near and far too come and eat with me anywhere of my choice, and I chose Blue Mesa… big mistake. We were the only table in the section for over half an hour, and it took over 45 minutes to get our order in. After over 1.5 hrs we still had no food. Several tables came in after us, and we’re getting there food all around us. My family grew angry and impatient, as did I. And after the last table, whom arrived 60 minutes after us, received their food; that was the last straw! I had planned to have my birthday brunch there next Saturday with a group of 20 girlfriends… consider it cancelled. If I could give it 0 stars, I would, but Yep is nicer than I am.

Ate there for the first time today and had a great experience at our table! Tiffiny was our waitress and she was great. Very sweet, upbeat and answered our questions about the menu. The food was delicious, the portions were a great size. The kids meals were great as well. The restaurant is clean, the atmosphere is bright, and we didn’t have to wait long at all for our food(bonus– the homemade sweet potato chips they bring when you sit are delicious!) The only reason I give this 4 stars instead of 5 is because when we arrived we waited at the maitre d station for seven minutes before someone came out to seat us. My husband wanted to leave– I’m glad we didn’t, but anyone who’s got kids knows that’s entirely too long to wait to just be sat when it’s not busy.

All I can say is that I LOVE Blue Mesa Grill, but not for their regular dining. This is purely a review for their brunch and happy hour, which are as good as it gets. First off, the brunch. $ 20 all you can eat and man do they have a spread. But I will be honest, when all you can drink mimosas and champagne are included, I cannot say I remember the food after glass number 5. If you have a Sunday without much on your plate, I’d definitely recommending coming by with some great friends to spend the day drinking and eating tacos! Secondly their happy hour. It is hands down my favorite happy hour in DFW! $ 4 drinks, almost anything you can dream of, my favorite is the mango moijito. They also have FREE chicken and vegetable quesadillas, that’s right, FREE! I’d definitely recommend going early because happy hour is only available in the bar area and there’s not the most ample seating. But once you claim a table, then this happy hour will be worth it! I’ve been here once for regular dinner and that would get a completely different review(probably 2 stars), but I’ll keep it out of this 5 star happy hour and brunch review!

Service here can definitly be hit or miss, but the blue crab and shrimp enchiladas are always perfect! And the corn cake is incredible as well. I’ve also been here for happy hour for the free quesadillas. It’s grest too! The service can be lacking during happy hour, as it can get pretty crowded. overall a good place to eat.

I was not impressed with this brunch. The food was muh. I was not sure what all the hype is about. I do admit it is a very large spred and there is a lot to choose from(Mexican, American, and Desserts), but the quality was not impressive. Next time, I will take my money and my tastebuds to Luna De Noche for brunch.

Blue crab and shrimp enchiladas were on point! Their sampler appetizers and sweet potatoes chips were delicious, really different from standard Mexican food. Love the corn based bread my food came with. Also great drink specials! I got a peach blueberry margarita during happy hour and it was enjoyable! Our group loved this place so much, we even got them to cater fajitas at a team building event a couple days later.

I went for Sunday Brunch. *Call ahead for reservations, because you know Brunch is what Dallas people do. 19.99 for Sunday brunch — includes beverages — mimosas, champagne, coffee, juices — pineapple, cranberry, orange, apple. Tortillas — made fresh right in front of you Good fresh guac there — picadillo is light and the barbacoa is tender Omelette bar is fast. I got everything in it but I don’t think any flavors actually stood out strong — onions, mushrooms, ham, jalapeños My brother says to avoid the adobo pie. Ginger rice wasn’t anything thing more than rice Blue corn cheese enchiladas lacked cheese — we’re talking — we opened it and had to look for the cheese. Hash browns a little burnt on the outside and undercooked on the inside The sausage links. .. just don’t look natural biscuits and gravy were alright — biscuits are just alright, but not hard nor fluffy though. Creamy gravy Brisket was pretty dry. I saw them bring out a new slab of brisket, and they moved it all with one pair of tongs. .. in other words — solid enough to NOT melt in you mouth. 2 different aqua frescas offered next to the desserts. The cookies weren’t soft but not rock hard either. Flan was soft. Jack Daniel pecan bars were small but good. Lemon tart’s pastry puff was a little denser than I liked. I didn’t like the normal chips, and I had to dig around for a bigger sizes of the sweet potato chips. I like the fire roasted salsa more than the red salsa. I thought the service was fine. 19.95 in that part of Plano sounds about right. I think some people are expecting too much. I don’t think this is my go to place to wow some one but if you’re with friends, I think this works well for those that want to eat and drink a brunch buffet without breaking the bank.
