After coming out to look at some work with American Home shield, and finding out that many of the parts were not covered, I decided to shop around a bit to see if I could get a better price elsewhere. I was contacted by Raymond who promised both that they would come out on a specific Saturday, and waive the fee to do so, since they wanted to keep my business. About a week and a half go by and I get no confirmation that they’re coming out so I decided to call them to verify. Now — I’m told that: 1. They can’t come on Saturday because hey haven’t gotten the parts yet. Well, a phone call would have been great. 2. They tried to call me. This is plausible, as the cell reception in my house is next to nonexistent. 3. They tried to leave a voice mail but my voice mail doesn’t work. False. I tested to make sure. 4. They, in fact, cannot, waive the Saturday fee. This boils down to setting proper expectations and following through. This is where they failed miserably. The fact that I had to chase them down, verify if they were even going to come out, and then find out they couldn’t honor the price they gave me is exceptionally disappointing. What’s worse is they likely don’t even care — at least that’s what the lady’s halfhearted apology over the phone seemed to indicate.
