Went by on Monday after exploring the downtown Plano area with my kids. We were immediately greeted and warmly welcomed by George who was running the store that day. After looking around a bit, George offered us some samples. He made my 4 year olds day, he was in chocolate heaven. I don’t consider myself a chocoholic like my wife, but wow this chocolate was so unique and delicious! Orange flavored, some with nuts, dark, coffee flavored, mixed with Vodka, Tequila, and others. Loved the names on the bottles with the liquor chocolate mix, pretty funny I thought. And for the record, my kids didn’t sample these. I ended up buying a gift box of chocolates for my wife that were decorated nicely, a recommendation from George. She loved them. We were treated so well and had such a good time that I had to bring my wife in later that day. Do yourself a favor and go try some chocolate. Surrounded by other great businesses as well like ten 20 art gallery and Lockharts bbq, and the train museum, go make an afternoon adventure. Oh and I hope I spelled George’s name right, forgive me if not.

My husband and I stopped by after our valentine’s day dinner. The guys were very helpful and picked out a couple of good ones for long distance runners’ snack… they also gave us some freebies because they had about a couple of weeks till expiration dates. Good customer service. More personal service than the one I had at the one in Bishop Arts district..

This place is really cool. They have great products, but more importantly, a great staff that gives samples for anything in the store, so you can decide what you want to spend money on. They also just got really cute chocolate hearts in for Valentine’s Day!

Met up with the wife next door at Lockhart for lunch and said to myself, «Dude, I wish there was a place close by for sweets.» Stepped out the front door and bam! A couple doors down is this place! I was like, «Dude! There’s chocolates!» We stepped inside and there was a dude in there sweeping and straightening up. He seemed like a pretty cool dude. Greeted us right away and asked if we’ve been in before. I said, «Dude, I’ve been so busy at work I haven’t had much time for anything.» The dude tells us that the chocolates are made here in Dallas and to look around and let him know if there was anything we wanted to sample or had any questions. We ended up trying the Vietnamese coffee chocolate. It was really good. Then my wife saw something that said, «Crack in a Box.» We tried that and I almost busted out singing«I will always love you,» because that crack was so good. And unlike Whitney’s, this crack was definitely NOT whack.

Finally! They’re available to review on Unilocal… I’ve been waiting for like ever for it to appear here. (Full disclosure — I got tired of waiting and wrote a review for Plano Profile. I’m editing that a bit to share a version of that review here.) When I first discovered Dude, Sweet Chocolate, it was in an underground-insider-only kind of way. An otherwise standard business women’s networking event morphed into a magical chocolate journey with the arrival of a chef hustling to get the word out about her sweet new venture. I’ve been hooked ever since. That’s, like, a really long time. Living in Plano, getting my Dude, Sweet Chocolate fix has been a bit more challenging. Who wants to go south of 635 if it’s not absolutely necessary? You can imagine my excitement when Dude arrived in downtown Plano. Super close to work. Super!(And dangerous.) If you’ve never enjoyed Dude, here’s what I recommend you try: 1. Crack in a Box Don’t ask me to explain it. It’s good. Buy a box.(Ok — it’s thick slices of dark, not overly sweet chocolate, with nuts. And deliciousness.) 2. Chocolate salami Ok, it’s not really salami – it just looks like it. Marzipan, chocolate, dates, plus a few other items are all combined into this roll that strangely resembles a salami log. 3. Samples Don’t know what Fungus Amongus Soft Butter Toffee tastes like? Worried about the heat level in the Red Hot Thinnamon bar? Ask for a sample. Redding or another staff member will give you a try before you buy. Just be prepared. You’ll want to buy everything you try, so be wise in how much you choose to sample! 4. C3P0 marshmallows This is probably the best thing I’ve ever put in my mouth. It’s like a Hostess sno-ball outgrew its awkward teenage years to top People magazine’s Most Beautiful list. It’s Just. That. Amazing. 5. Allergen menu Ask Dude, Sweet Chocolate for an allergen menu and they’ll quickly provide it. Vegan, gluten free – it’s all there, nicely detailed with the information you need. 5. Plus More You can get chocolate-infused nearly-everything. Seriously. Extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar, tea, granola… the list goes on.

Found them closer to home on Google. Came in around 10pm to picked out a gift. The staff were very friendly. Got to try out quite a few chocolates before buying. Love that I don’t need to go downtown for these anymore. My favorite is the Hanoi Fudge, Vietnamese coffee flavor.
