There is something that I love about Zanata. It’s nestled in downtown Plano, and reminds me of a couple of my favorite restaurants in Philadelphia. It’s welcoming, but intimate. The décor is loft-like with light wood floors and white walls. The main dining area is downstairs, and the bar is upstairs with additional seating. They also have a roof deck patio! If you are more into independently owned restaurants instead of the typical chains, you will like the feel of Zanata. Oh, and the staff? So friendly, so professional, and they will always make you feel welcome. Now for the pizza. The crust is perfect. It’s not too thick or thin, and the texture is perfect. They have a lot of different kinds like the fruit and fig, and Texas BBQ. We had the Mighty Quinn. The sausage had some spice to it, and loved the prosciutto too! Check out their Facebook page for their food and happy hour specials. I highly recommend Zanata for a date night, girl’s night, or a place to take out of town guests.

Wow, this is an amazing deal on Sunday nights. I get a different red wine for a small upcharge. The ambience here is really something, especially with the guy playing guitar that plays both on the 1st and 2nd floor. Very smooth place to take a date. As far as the pizza, I find it quite good. It isn’t Neopolitan like Cavalli but close to it, and a little heavier on the toppings. Overall, I am VERY pleased with it. The service has always been spot on here as well. I will continue coming as long as they keep up the good work!

Great place for dinner, and a great cozy upstairs room for a private(read: private does NOT equal quiet). Went for a work shin-dig and had a really great time. Decent tap selection(excited to see the Deep Ellum IPA, score x 2!) followed by some basic yet strong apps/dinner options. Although I was not eyeing a pizza, I found myself stuck going round and round with the multiple non-pizza entrees. I could have easily snagged any one of them, so I had to make the right one rise to the top! So, after sharing some bruscetta, artichoke dip and the fried brussel sprouts(which would better with less cauliflower and more Brussels), I decided on the bouillabaisse, which came with some very plump shrimp, mussels, and I believe sea bass(or whatever sea bass actually is now a days). Sea bass portions were more like small remnants, and could have had more broth to work with. But overall, solid and satisfying. Great service all around with a entertaining group of my co-workers! Solid spot, great location.

Super nice restaurant with great service! I really liked the salmon that I got! It was moist and juicy and didn’t seem like it was super bad for you. The cheese platter appetizer was good and the fried brussel sprouts were AMAZING. The chocolate cake was also really good. They have a really nice outdoor patio that you can sit at but it gets pretty cold at night since they don’t have any heat lamps. They also have a full bar upstairs and the bartender is really nice. Overall, I would come back here if I were in this area!

Pizza Club came here(instead of Urban Crust) because we heard that they had a gluten free crust so we were excited– a well-reviewed place with supposedly good pizza where my husband could eat, too! But my enthusiasm waned when his pizza came out. It was basically black it was so thin and burnt. He isn’t one for complaining and ate it dutifully while we were there but admitted later that the sausage tasted like Totino’s and the crust was basically inedible(but he soldiered through.) It’s great to offer GF pizza but you have to actually do it right to get any return customers. We’ve tried GF pizza at a variety of places and this one was sub-Domino’s and sub-frozen GF crusts we’ve bought at the grocery store. The regular pizzas were certainly better than my husband’s but the crust was still an issue. It came out looking very yummy but upon taking a bite of the crust around the edge of the pizza we realized that there was NO chew, just crunch. Very disappointing and not how Neapolitan pizza should be. The topping were pretty good, I liked the brussels sprouts pizza and the one with the pineapple. But the toppings were put on so haphazardly– a big pile of topping on one piece and the one next to it with nothing but cheese? What sense does that even make? It also seemed that as the pizza cooled the cheese hardened, which just makes it seem like cheap cheese was used(although I thought it tasted fine when it was hot.) The drinks were pretty good and we had the stone crab appetizer(not cheap but alright, it’s fun to dig for all the meaty bits) but I would not recommend going out of your way to try the pizza, gluten free or otherwise.

Zanata was either right on the money… or missing some change. 2 of the 4 things we tried were exceptionally great, the other two severly disappointing. I would say 3.5 experience overall. This was my first time to downtown Plano… had no idea this little strip of goodies was even in existence being that my «stomping grounds» are mid-cities and I work around Upper Greenville and University Park area… so I never have a reason to go to Plano. I happened to be in the area and my Unilocal app led me here listing this restaurant as italian. Other than they offer pizza, I really didn’t get an italian vibe from the menu or décor. I LOVE the décor — very modern meets rustic. Whoever decorated it is WELCOME anytime to help me with my house! The edison lights over the bar and in the bathroom=love. The mix of rustic wood with iron, I loved it. The have an upstairs patio that is super cute — large umbrellas and 2 strands of patio lights… it was packed so we sat indoors upstairs. We started with a suggestion from the server, the bruschetta… it came with 3 pieces and was unlike any bruschetta I’ve ever had — not even remotely italian — but the BEST I’ve ever put in me mouf. Like food-gasm good… wish I would’ve ordered a 2nd plate as my entrée… yes, THAT good. We couldn’t make a decision on the type so they gave us a mix of the 3 they offered — mozzerella, marscapone and gorgonzola. The marscapone was my fav which had a ton of olives piled on and delicious greens tossed in a raspberry vinagrette… to die for. We ordered sangrias to drink… don’t bother. They taste like zinfandel wine with a few sliced grapes tossed it… this was not sangria by any means… the peach, pomegranite nor the plain… all just SAD. The iced tea, however, was wonderful… I had a good 4 glasses of it. We ordered the central pizza… while the menu description sounded wonderful, the crust was soggy, toppings severly greasy and completely unappetizing. We both had one slice and it sat there alone the rest of the meal. Luckily we had ordered an entrée… the flat iron and pasta — that pasta deserves to be a menu option all on it’s on. Angel hair pasta DRENCHED in gorgonzola cream sauce… heavenly. The flat iron was good… the pasta over-shined it. Service was good, not great. Overall we’d definitely go back and just know to get tea or a cocktail instead of sangria and get a bruchetta and salad. If the service, pizza, sangria and steak would’ve been to the level of the bruschetta and pasta — this would’ve been a 5 star experience easily.

What a great find! We went here for the first time for dinner on Saturday. I really liked the atmosphere and the look of the restaurant. Modern and cozy, one of the nicer restaurants located in downtown Plano. I just love the way pizza tastes when cooked in a wood fired oven so had try theirs out. We ended up ordering calamari, the Central pizza, and the FM554 pizza. The FM554 pizza is a white pizza with provolone, fontina, wild mushrooms, brussels sprouts, and truffle oil. This pizza was great! I really liked how part of the brussels sprout leaves were burnt, giving it a very nutty taste. The Central pizza came with pepperoni, mushrooms, chorizo, tomato sauce, and garlic. The chorizo was a nice addition. The pizza is 12 inches, and comes with 8 slices. The crust is pretty thin, chewy in the right places, and had a good wood-fired taste. I’m definitely adding this to our pizza rotation! My only criticism was the waitress could have been friendlier and more welcoming. The food did come out quickly and drinks were refilled constantly. We’ll be back to try out more of the menu items.

Zanata has great pizza and their Sunday deal blows anything out of the water. You get a salad, bottle of wine and pizza for like $ 25. I would recommend them and the staff is really friendly. Sundays they have someone on the rooftop patio playing live music and he even came downstairs and did a few songs. Definitely will be going back!
