I ordered the Chicken and shrimp lunch special. It was very good. Not sure why but I had very bad tummy cramps after eating it though. I ended up not keeping the meal down. I wish I didn’t get Ill because I really did like this place.

Found this place searching Siri for Greek food. What a surprise! Excellent people, food and atmosphere. We arrived about 5:15 pm and I was worried about the lack of cars in the immediate parking area. Before we left people were pouring in. This is a hidden gem that doesn’t open until 5.

Great family own restaurant. The rack of lamb is almost the best around. If you want a break from the chain restaurants, definitely try Greek Isles!

What a wonderful surprise! I hardly expected to find such a wonderful Greek restaurant in the heart of Texas! Having grown up in a traditional Greek household, my standards for Greek food are very high. I selected a delicious red wine from their impressive list of Greek wines. As an appetizer, I had the dolmas, which was in a delicious avgolemono sauce; an for an entre, the pastitso, cooked to perfection, and which was accompanied with a Greek salad, traditional green beans and a roasted potato. Everything was fabulous! I felt as though I was in Greece! The service was excellent, and I was even able to speak Greek with my waiter, Yiannis, who made me feel right at home. And to top it all off, the prices are very reasonable: For such a great meal, I would have expected to pay twice the price! If your looking for authentic Greek cooking and atmosphere, Greek Isles is definitely the place to go!

Absolutely the BEST greek food around. Family owned and they make you feel very special — especially if you have kids. Grilled shrimp is awesome. They opened a second one in Dallas that is amazing too! LOVE!

I would not have found this place without Unilocal. It is tucked away in a strip mall and not visible from the road. Thank you Unilocal for a new Greek restaurant for my wife and I. We stopped in for an early lunch and we both had the Greek salads. My wife did the chicken and I have the Gyro. They were both excellent. The place is nicely decorated in a Greek theme. It is clean and the staff are very friendly and efficient. The prices are reasonable and the food quality was very good. We will be back to try it for dinner!

My family and I have been going to the Greek Isles for the more than 20 years we have been living in Plano, and we love it. The food is light and fresh, and the quality of the ingredients(especially the fresh produce used in the salads — the tomato salad — wow!) is top notch. Gus and John regularly go out of their way to say hi to us and make us feel like we are members of the family. Love the bread and olives, saganaki, tomato salad, and any of the entrees — you can’t go wrong — and desserts and light and tasty as well. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of the product delivered, making the Greek Isles tough to beat.

Great little Greek restaurant. Visited last night and the moussaka was very tasty and fresh. Salad was OK, Greek restaurants in US all seem to have lettuce on salads(not in Greece) a personal peeve of mine. Place was busy as most restaurants are on a Saturday night but the service could not have been more attentive. Musician on guitar and singing was very nice. Prices are very good especially as my partner and I always share the entrée. As such we splurge on having larger salads. Any way to keep the calories down.

Friendly, but almost always slow service. Food across the board is really mediocre. Been here 4 times and the same experience each visit. Don’t understand the following here.

I have had dinner here 3 times in the last 5 years with friends. I usually don’t think of Greek food when I am pondering the restaurant choices. Meat and tator man myself. The dishes I have had at the Greek Isles were very tasty, and filling. I think this place is a gem in a obscure location. If it were out where people would see it, it would be packed every night! The quality is superb, and the flavors are very good! Give it a try and review!

Not a big fan. Maybe it was an off night for them. Took the wife there this past Saturday night. Wanted to really like the place. I love Plano’s hole in the wall eateries. We got there, they were out of 3 of the 6 glasses of wines they offer… not a deal breaker, but didn’t help my confidence in the place. Had the dolmas, which were pretty tasty. Everything else was very bland and left much to be desired. I had the lemon soup because of the reviews… tasted like chicken broth with lemon and rice. Not great. My main dish was the pork souvlaki. Good chunks of pork, but lacked flavor. Thick cuts of pork need internal flavor. When all the flavor is on the outside… the food taste off balance. The grilled onions and peppers were good. Light lemon flavor. My wife ordered the chicken avgolemono. Very disappointing. Looked like a frozen chicken breast from SAMs. Very bland with a lot of lemon flavor. Overall the service was good, food was generic. Similar flavors you could get at Luby’s and why did everything taste like lemon… even the Greek salad?

Great bottle of wine prices. 5 large ribs of each of lamb! The food was cooked well. I asked for rare which most places overcook and they didn’t. The rack of lambs were seconded perfectly. I wasn’t a huge fan of the salad as it had more sauce than I like but the everything else was awesome.

Opa! Great place for a group of friends, or even just two. Friday night it’s certainly a happening place. Eight of us and the server asked each of us our names and remembered them. Started with the flaming saganaki and it was delicious. Not quite as heavy as I would have thought for flaming cheese. Husband and I had the Veal lemonati and the Moussaka. My veal was very good, plenty of food. Not exciting but good. My husband likes eggplant and at first didn’t like the moussaka. You can’t taste the egg plant, but after a couple of bites, he thought it was very good. Maybe at first it wasn’t what he was expecting. Moussaka is kind of like a greek lasagne. I do not like eggplant, so I liked it since you couldn’t get a distinct flavor of eggplant. Overall the prices were reasonable and the service was excellent! We sat at a big table in the bar and I think they must have a Friday night group that takes it over, because we kept getting funny looks from people coming into the bar, thinking we were unrecognizable friends at first. It was kind of comical. One guy came up behind my husband, patted him on the shoulder and then I think realized he didn’t know us and just kept on walking. LOL Friendly place, good food, great service.

I am a huge lover of Greek food and was recommended to the Greek Isles Grill by a friend. I only go out to dinner once a week so I was really looking forward to this. I was was sooo disappointed! The restaurant was dim and outdated looking. As I looked around once we were seated I realized my husband and I were the only table under 60! The drink order was taken and complementary bread and olives were brought to the table.(Best thing about the meal.). It took a while before the server asked if we wanted an appetizer and before we could finish the dinner order he ran away. Granted he was the only server and had at least 9 or 10 tables going. Seems like two servers would be better. We started with the flaming cheese called Saganaki. It tasted like it was frozen and was heated in the microwave. Next was a weird lemon soup with white rice. Disgusting. My husband’s salad looked like something from a hospital cafeteria. For our main course we both had the lamb gyros. Again, the meat seemed like frozen meat rewarmed and the fries were like frozen Orida fries from the grocery store. Basically, this a a fast food Greek restaurant. I am angry I spent money on this frozen, tasteless food. I actually feel dirty inside after eating here.

Fantastic service. Was with a very large group of people, but the waiter was wonderful at handling such a large party flawlessly. Avgolemono soup was bright and tart, very refreshing. Stir well between bites to get the rice into your spoon. The Greek sampler platter was good. The portion of spanakopita is quite large. Unfortunately, both the spanakopita and pastitsio suffer when compared to memories of those dishes prepared for the Greek festival at Holy Trinity in September. The lamb was very tasty however, and I am not wild about lamb. For dessert I ordered the galactobouriko. Very good, not as sweet as baklava, but a nice finish to good meal.

Friends don’t let friends under 60 eat at Greek Isles. My partner and I arrived at about 7:30 on a Wednesday, pleasantly surprised to see a busy parking lot. Upon entering and waiting for about 5 minutes at the host stand without anyone coming to seat us, we walked into the dining room and stood awkwardly waiting for a waiter to acknowledge and seat us. It was at this point we realized this likely wouldn’t be an amazing dining experience — we were the only two people in the restaurant under 60 years old, and a few couples were dancing to a mediocre singer/piano player. Not ones to chicken out, we pressed forward. Once seated a gentleman I assume to be the owner came over and cleared the extra place settings. Water was quickly served, and that’s where the good service stopped. I ordered the pork medallions and my partner went for the chicken souvlaki. Each entrée came with either soup(navy bean or lemon) or salad; I opted for the navy bean soup and my partner for the salad. The salad arrived quickly, but unfortunately so did a salad for me. After reminding the waiter I ordered the soup, he took the salad away and went to fetch the soup. My partner’s only response to the salad was«I wish it were chilled.» My soup arrived only after the salad was picked over. Copious amounts of salt and pepper were required to impart any amount of flavor into the soup — not too bad once several teaspoons of seasoning were added. The entrees were, in a word, blah. Both were completely devoid of any type of seasoning or flavor. It is what I imagine baby food for adults would taste like — cooked well, soft, but severely lacking in anything satisfying. The rice with both dishes was somehow more bland than the plain white rice we eat with Chinese food at home — almost soupy in texture. Both dishes again required copious salt and pepper to get even close to edible. Needless to say, we passed on the desserts, and will pass on returning to the Greek Isles Grille — at least, until we’re in dentures.

Picked up a pork souvlaki dinner for carry out the other night. The dinner comes with a standard salad dressed with a simple o&v dressing and a little feta. The other side — Greek style green beans — was pretty ordinary/standard as well. The pork was soooooo good! It’s charcoal grilled with onions and peppers over rice. Some of the best pork I’ve had. Also, I second what a few other folks have said. The place is a little tough to find. It’s in a mall around the back side. Thanks Greek Isles!

What a pleasant surprise! I am not a fan of Greek food(or wasn’t) so when a friend wanted to have a meetup there I thought I should give it a try. So happy I did! First. the restaurant is little hard to find. They could have some signs over some strategic places in that huge parking lot. But let’s say if you are facing the Bavarian Grill keep left and turn right. It will be right there! We went wit a large group, almost 50 people. Service was very good, food came out fast. Our waiter was on top of everything as possible. Kudos to him! The place itself is kind of fun, little dark and noisy and have great posters of Greece on the walls. Updated posters, which is nice! Tables with white linens and napkins. Then I noticed for my delight they have a right«mis en place» on the tables! Like a formal set up just like in Europe. I know… it is silly but it was really nice to see a business doing it right! Then the food… The dolma was hot, which was a surprise since most of my «dislike» of Greek food was cold dolmas! It was delicious. A friend ordered Spanikopita as appetizer and it was outstanding! He loved it too. I ordered Chicken Fiorentina which is chicken breast filled with spinach. It was very flavorful, tender, juicy. This dish is offered and Dinner Special, it comes with a small salad(very good), a soup(lemon soup, wonderful), green beans and dessert. I chose baklava ice-cream and it was fantastic! We were all very happy with everything there and I will be back for sure! Great job!

I visited Greek isles a few times before I started writing for Unilocal and did not think much to the food here. It’s not exactly bad it just pales in comparison to other Plano/frisco Greek places(Zizikis and Platia) Last weekend I went back there due to a friends birthday and I thought as I’d disliked it so much I would read up on Unilocal to see what I should order to get a better experience. Imagine my surprise when I saw all the fabulous reviews. I didn’t understand given my past experiences but I read a ton of them. The great reviews even seemed to know Greek food well(Greek parents etc) So this visit I went in with an open mind and was ready to enjoy the meal. I also know Greek food well as I’ve spent a lot of time there. I still came away with an average take on the place, and honestly given all the great reviews and how crowded this restaurant was I’m confused I felt the service was very good(i was in a group of 25 and I know that’s not easy) but the food just fell around average again. The calamari had great texture but was just swimming in oil. Had the calamari been«naked» this would have worked but it wasnt so the breadcrumbs were just soggy and it spoilt the dish For my main I avoided the fish as these have been bland in the past. This time I ordered the Pastitso– macaroni, ground beef and bechemal sauce. Again this entrée wasn’t bad but nothing really stood out about it. The flavous were rather bland, though again the texture saved it. I’m going to keep my eye on this place(reviews) and hope that next time there is a birthday there I’ll have my order down pat so I won’t be disappointed again but I won’t be going there under my own steam.
