1÷16÷16 Decided to give this place another try. Glad we did. Food was really good. Not great, but good. The breakfast tacos are flavorful and hearty. The menudo was much better. The tripe was cooked well, but the soup was not chili based as the more traditional menudo. Wife had the chorizo plate. The eggs and chorizo were cooked perfectly. Not too greasy or over cooked. The potatoes are sliced not cubed, so they are perfect. We left happy and satisfied.

This place used to be great. I stopped in for lunch the day before Christmas eve. In the past, this place would have been packed with people picking up their tamale orders, but there were only two other customers there(during lunch hour). I can see why. The food is no where NEAR what it used to be. The tamale and portions are tiny and my food was barely warm. It was like it was put on a plate out of the cooler and just warmed. The chips tasted like burnt or stale grease. Just not much good to say about this place anymore. It’s very sad because it used to be amazing.

The guy that works the to go order front counter is very rude and un professional the way he talks to people. We left and did not even order anything. Hope they get someone else to work there.

Came in here with the expectations of order two or three dozen tamales(some pork and some bean). I didn’t know I couldn’t order tamales by the dozen to eat in. Not sure why? So we ordered tamales plates that came with 5 tamales with rice and beans. The tamales were good. Not exactly like mom’s but close. Menudo was decent too. Restaurant was really clean and the staff was great too. I just don’t comprehend why I can’t order a dozen tamales to eat in.

Best in Plano for a reasonably priced sit down breakfast. Homemade, hot, and flavorful.

This place used to be my go-to place for breakfast tacos with chorizo and egg. I think it has changed management a few times. But now the tacos are way too greasy(leaves a puddle in the car seat through the bag) and is too slow in the morning.

Nicest owners and the food is awesome. Tamales to die for

The tamales should be called«mini» or snack sized. Oh, and tasteless. Really disappointed. The menudo meat was of extremely poor quality, and much of it was slimy. No honeycomb to be found. Again, disappointing. Oh, and I got SEVERAL bones… They were more like dirt clods that disintegrate when you accidentally bite into them. The soup base wasn’t bad, but I’m assuming they use a commercial«menudo flavor bag». All in all, a bad experience… Including the lukewarm greeting from the gentleman behind the counter that acted like he’d rather be fishing or something. Won’t be returning. Ill take my chances with local individual vendors.

Very disappointing, Tamales where very small for the price and tasted less than average, don’t know how this place has been around so long.

I recently purchased a dozen pork tamales thinking, and my mistake, they would be the typical size I was accustomed to in SoCal. What I received was a dozen tamales that were so small a half a dozen wouldn’t fill a five year olds appetite. For the $ 12 I payed I was very dissatisfied and disappointed.

The people here were really helpful. They gave us a sample when we were indecisive. The atmosphere is really nice. Dark wood and dark metals. Nice patio. A plate will run you $ 7 – 8. Lots of salsa.

We’ve been coming to this restaurant for years(even back when it was still called Aparicos before the 2008 recession). It is a family run shop and we have gotten to know them. They are very nice people making Grandma’s recipes. We wish they still used a wait staff, but they have switched to counter ordering and pick up. The environment is clean but plain. Needless to say we go for the food. In our opinion they have some of the best queso in town. I love their guisada which is hard to find. My wife really likes their mexican cookies when they are available and the eggs ranchero for breakfast. They serve up a solid meal at a fair price. We will keep going as long as they keep making Grandmas recipes.

I have been to Plano Tortilla Factory since the 1990’s and hoped to show my GF a good old time Mexican meal. What I found was sad. The beautiful building had been remodeled and now it no had longer wait service. You order at the counter. The food was about the same but there are so many more choices in the area now and the changes have made the place a little dated and shabby. It is a Group On Special place that is a little bit like a greasy spoon. I like the family so I couldn’t give a lower score but Adiós PTF.

Tried the Tamales here for the first time, ordered 1 dozen pork, these things are tiny 12.00 a dozen, at the most they are ok, nothing out of this world, at least it’s not a blob of Maza hiding meat, meat portion was good, I liked that they have a Togo area, no drive thru, and they also serve breakfast, I was a bit dissapointed that they did not add any salsa or onions/cilantro to my order, seems to be popular, I’ll need to check the breakfast out next. But for now at least the Tamales took away the crave.

Came here with a Groupon to try it out and also because it had been recently listed as one of the top 10 places for tacos. Sorry to say it was very dissapointing. The person working the register was not very friendly. I ordered 1 tongue taco and one gordita with pork carnitas, and a small cup of Menudo. My friend had the enchilada plate. I liked they had several salsas to choose from. The salsas had good flavor but way saltier that should be. They were also out of sliced limes. I found the food very bland and not a lot of flavor. The menudo was very tasteless. The meat for the tacos was the same, like it was just boiled with salt, nothing else and very dry. It’s too bad because they advertise the meat as «guisada» –which means it’s been cooked with spices, veggies or sauces, and there was nothing special about the corn tortillas. The gordita just fell apart and was soggy, like it had not been grilled enough. Also, you only get the meat and the tortilla or gordita. Nothing else comes with it. At least, they have some things in their salsa bar you can add to your taco to make it taste better. The enchilada plate was just ok. I’ve definitely had way better tacos in many other places, I’m still not sure why they have been rated so high.

I’m going to be brutally honest(and lengthy) in hopes that the owners will see this and use it as constructive criticism. I love me a good family run business and I don’t want to see them go down. The owner’s son(?) took our order at the counter. My fiancées family lives in the area and they’ve been frequenting this restaurant for 10+ years. I know it’s been through many ups and downs and changes. As he took our order out of curiosity I asked if they changed owners. He explained the restaurant was under the same ownership with a refocus on food quality as they had when they started in the 80’s. Great! That’s the kind of thing I like to hear. I’m sad to say it was still a huge letdown. Got the chorizo plate — one of my go to orders. There was very little chorizo even in the dish; could hardly taste it. The eggs could’ve been their saving grace but they were super dry and over cooked. So were the potatoes. The complimentary chips were stale and seemed like they tried to rewarm them. My tortilla soup on the side tasted watered down. By far the biggest let down though were the tortillas. They were ok tasting in certain areas, but most of it was very very dry, like cardboard. I was there with 8 of my fiancées Mexican family and they all agreed. If they are going to call themselves a tortilla factory please at least get that part perfected. I’m sorry to say I would’ve preferred a Great Value flour tortilla from Walmart. Owners — I hope you see this and make real changes in your quality, like it was years ago when it was our weekly favorite. :)

A friend recommended this restaurant, We were very disappointed in the service and food. We were greeted by Brett who did not pay much attention to us. I told him this was our first time here and he didn’t seem to care. He was interested in the fish pond he had outside and actually he left as I was trying to pay. He went outside to check on his pond. We had breakfast dishes the eggs were good. Steak was bland. Fried potatoes were not seasoned. Rice and beans were good. Muendo was a miss. Something was missing I tired to doctor it up. Oh and fresh jalapenos will cost you extra. So long Brett we are taking out money elsewhere

Great Food, made by Grandma in the kitchen. Breakfast tacos are legit Tex Mex, and their lunches are just as good. A consistent weekend stop for me!
