The food is great and the delivery option is great! I love the place! I am happy I found it.

This place offers Home style Indian food in a «no frills» kind of way. The servers are the owners themselves and they are polite and helpful. The food is like-home-cooked, non spicy, non oily, yet tasty! Thalis are well balanced and are more than enough for any kind of appetite. If you are expecting a service like a chain-restaurant though, stay away.

Terrible service. We just walked out without ordering. We were asked to take a seat and then kept waiting for someone to take our order. Three servers stood around chatting but didn’t bother…

Authentic indian restaurant worth trying once. Love dum biriyani here but the chicken is not well cooked in biriyani. Dine-in not recommend — place smells bad. Happened to me twice.

Food is great. Service is not. One day the lady at the counter took my order, said nothing and just turned around and walked away. Another day they asked if I wanted water and then they never brought it. The staff has never acted friendly. Today I was told that they were closed when the sign on the door clearly says open. I have always visited at slow times. The staff is different every time and have never acted friendly. I definitely do not feel welcomed here.

Very good hole in the wall type of place. Service can sometimes be slow but it’s not highly staffed so I feel they are trying their best. Tahli is often hard to find and theirs is excellent.

As a Chinese who love Indian food… I love it. Even came there 10 minutes before closing and they are always serious with their business. 5 stars for the taste. Is very decent and close to me and always coming in for the late night dinner. Very fresh very nicely run family business type of operation. Smile and polite and attentive! They always have special of the day. Make sure you check them out. Love the goat bryani and almost all dishes are always serve fresh and good. Highly recommended. Hope they are doing good and is good for us the late night Owl.

Special chicken biriyani was just chicken curry over basmati rice… the goat and chicken biriyani was too blunt and normal with no biriyani spices on it… If you expect a South Indian typical biriyani then you will be disappointed.

Great food. We went at a time where the restaurant was less crowded, so didn’t find any issues with the service. We ordered chilli chicken, chole bhature, egg curry and chicken tandoori. Chicken tandoori was outstanding and flavorful :). Will return back again to try out other menu items :)

Outstanding food! The thali is just too good and the gulab jamun is to die for… My hubby ordered the Chicken Mughalai, which is one of the highlights of this restaurant. Next time you are here — it’s a must order… Very pleasant staff. Any day would recommend this restaurant .!

This review is for their catering. Rani was very helpful and the food was a hit. We ordered a dosa stand, non-veg dinner(CK Tikka Masala), Gobi Manchurian and Chicken65 for appetizer and the food was perfect. The two servers came promptly and setup the dosa stand and were courteous and efficient. We had a mix of non-desi and desi attendees and everyone loved the food. Portions were plenty and the event was a success. Thank you Rice N Roti!

Was stuck at home today, sans car(husbands is in the shop and he took mine), so I decided to try delivery from this place. Placed my order online at 11:20am, and immediately got an email confirming my order(chicken tikka masala, samosa chat, order of naan) saying it would be delivered ASAP. Since this place is literally a couple blocks away, I figured it would be 45 minutes at most. Finally got my food at 12:55pm. The tikka was cold, but that’s what a microwave is for right? Once it was heated, it was edible but not the best I’ve had by any stretch of the imagination. Very tomato-y, and lacking spice. The naan was hard and overly chewy. The samosa chat was flavorful and spicy, but very soggy. I think I would have enjoyed it more if it had been fresh. I don’t think I would order from here again. I’ll stick with India Chaat Café on Frankford and Preston.

Absolutely brilliant food. I’ve been here numerous times and will continue coming back. Whether you’re looking for food South Indian fare or just a good olé fashioned butter chicken, Rice and Roti is, let’s say, favorable. The décor is shabby and the service is unpredictable but you didn’t come here for the ambience. This place is all about the food. The negative reviews of this restaurant are from total asshats who downthumbed the joint for just these aspects. Although I often see families eating in, it’s more of a take-out location. Ignore the asshats and try the korma with some naan. As Bourdain often says, «You want this.»

I haven’t ever come across a restaurant that has such pathetic service I had gone to eat lunch the other day, there is this staff who s sleeping at the table beside me. He didn’t even bother to get up when a customer came. The service is so awful. They have such audacity that when you ask for a dessert they take the ready made packet of Haldirams and serve the rasmalai for you and all this is happening right in front of my eyes. And worst is it’s not even cold. Well just before dessert I had ordered for an egg biryani and trust me I am a very novice cook but can do a far better job than them. The rice was over cooked and the so called eggs were just mixed with the rice and served. So please don’t visit this place and I am hoping the concerned people read this review and buck up before your restaurant hits the street Wouldn’t have given even a star if not for a compulsion. All black stars though and Dallas has the worst Indian restaurant.

Great Service. Delicious Food. A little overpriced, but compared to indian buffets, you’re getting quality over quantity. I was with a group of four, so we ordered four items and shared among each other. We ordered the chicken tikki marsala, chicken biryani, chicken 65, and chicken palak. I didnt make the decisions, since my friends ate here before. Chicken Tikki Marsala — I enjoyed this dish. Had a nice, smooth, and savory taste. Chicken 65 — I dont know why there’s a tradition of calling this plate«65» but it was delicious. I will admit, the color didnt entice me to eat it. It looked just like hot cheetohs. I highly recommend everyone to order this. But keep in mind, its not spicy. Chicken Palak — This was good, but compared to the two mentioned above, its not the best. It looks like tormatilla sauce, but it had more of a vegetable aftertaste. I still liked it though Chicken Biryani — My friends love this dish, but I thought it was ok. The flavor of this dish doesnt really stand out Their rice is just rice. But I will say that its not overcooked or stale. The naan bread is really good, although they dont seem to give you much. Some pieces were a bit crunchy, but it didnt bother me. This place is a dive, no beating around the bush. The walls are bright yellow, and the decorations are bare. It actually wasnt that bothersome to me, since I was with friends. If you’re taking someone on a first date here, the lack of atmosphere may become a problem. I liked the fact that they have a sink outside of the bathroom. I will eat here again. I will also recommend it, but its best to bring a group of friends to try different items.

Rice n Roti is one of these places where I usually grab something to go when I’m in the area and needing an Indian fix. Being from England, the korma’s over there are made with coconut so it had a nice sweetness to it rather than being all spicy hot, so I’m pretty pick when it comes to getting a korma here in the US. This is one of the few places where I find the food consistently good. The chicken was very tender, and very well trimmed of any fat, and the curry itself had a nice spice to it without over powering. The garlic naan could have done with a little more garlic, but other than that, can’t complain. My wife picked the food up for me, the wait was about 15 – 20 minutes so be sure to order ahead if you want something to go. Usually a curry comes with one side, either rice or bread. If I had to be picky, I would note that togo portions are probably larger at most other places, since there’s usually some left over for the next day. If you’re in the area, this is well worth checking out if you like a good curry.

The briyani here is so good. Mutton was so tender and the rice was just amazing. Small hole in the wall with old aunties cooking in the back. Imagine the wealth of culinary knowledge in that kitchen. Will RTE to try more stuff.

Tried the chicken tikka masala. Had good flavor but portion is somewhat small for almost $ 11. You only get to choose between naan or rice. I felt like the restaurant misadvertises with the«lunch specials» out front when they only have 2 appetizer dishes that were considered specials instead of actual entrees.

Nice mom and pop Indian restaurant. Biryani is usually my litmus test for an Indian restaurant. Ordered the chicken dum biryani and it was a sizable portion easily shareable. The rice and chick was moist and just the right level of spiciness.

This is our second time at Rice N Roti, and the same incompetent service issues plagued us as they did last time, even though is time we ordered online to remove confusion. This is obviously a family-run restaurant operated by folks who have NOIDEA how to run a restaurant. Last visit, our server asked us if we wanted water, we said yes, and she brought 2 glasses of water — for a table of 4. Instead of bringing 2 more glasses of water, she retreated to the cash register and pulled out her phone. It took several minutes and another request for her to bring 2 more glasses of water, and she seemed unaware that this was odd. Worse, we ordered 4 entrees, of which 3 came out very badly staggered. The 4th they forgot about completely! In all it took over an hour to get all our food. We had ti ask several times for bread and eventually it just became too hard. BUTTHEFOODWASWONDERFUL, so we decided to given them another shot, this time ordering online ourselves. The lousy clueless service staff can’t mess that up, right? Wrong. The website is very nicely put together with lovely photos and very well organized. BUT — when you order a chicken tandoori WRAP from the wrap menu bar, the order is transmitted as chicken tandoori appetizer, and the service staff(1) did not know that is glitch existed and(2) said the error was impossible to fix. We ordered 4 entrees and specified a time that they should all be ready for dine-in. Two entrees for the kids came out almost immediately upon our arrival. The appetizer we ordered(and specified on the website as what we wanted to come out first) came out 20 minutes after the kids had finished their entrees. The parents entrees(which were supposed to be the tandoori wraps and that were turned into tandoori chicken appetizers by website) came out 25 minutes after that. Two orders of naan bread arrived separately, after multiple reminders, after the kids had finished their dinners and after the rest of the entrees had arrived. Less competent service can barely be comprehended. Once again, the food was very good. The vegetable pakora fritters were fried perfectly and not greasy at all. The tandoori chicken was tender juicy and very flavorful. The naan bread was a delightful contrast of crispy and soft, just as it should be. But the horrible unprofessional incompetent customer service overshadowed the food. What a shame. If this restaurant could get their staff some basic front-of-house training, AND if the kitchen could figure out how to make all the orders for a table some out on time and in the right sequence, we’d give this place 5 stars. But with the apparently insurmountable service and kitchen issues here, we will not be back.
