The food is fantastic, as are the prices. If you are fine with plastic cups and plates, you are going to love this! No frills, just great food.

Good fresh tasting food, good ambience for a casual place. I like that they have good options for vegetarian food. The veggie lasagne is delicious!

I love this spot and concept. I noticed a few other reviewers commented on the portion size but I think the portion sizes are perfect. I love the verde dish, which is flavorful and fresh. I sampled some of my boyfriend’s pizza, which I thought was good. My boyfriend and I also tried the gelato tonight for the first time. It was creamy, rich and delicious. We tried the caramel island fudge. They should consider opening a gelato storefront because the gelato is that good. I recommend Spezzo if you’re looking for a cozy Italian spot where the staff is friendly and the food is consistently good.

Super cute restaurant! Very clean and had a cool vibe to it. You can tell the food is fresh. I do wish they gave you more food but I don’t mind the small portion sizes because the food taste great so it’s worth it.

Tried Spezzo tonight for first time tonight. We found it clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly. You order at the counter, and they bring you the food. Food arrives after fairly quick, so you can get in and out fast. What is different here… portion sizes were surprisingly small. This is strange because pasta is not expensive. We asked for bread and they said it cost $ 1.49. Meatballs were very tasty, but again small. You see the theme. When you go for Italian, you go to eat, and what you can’t finish, you take home. You should be given bread with the meal to enjoy the gravy in your dish. By the way the gravy was very good. We also had pizza, toppings were good crust was parmesan flavor which I didn’t care for. That a matter of personal preference. The pie was cooked properly. If you scan the pictures you will see portion sizes. One final note I asked if my pasta could have Bolognese sauce vs. Marinara and they said it would cost $ 4 more. .wow an additional $ 4 for sauce on a cup of pasta. .that makes no sense at all.

Lunch time it’s real quiet. Really good pizza. They offered a couple lunch specials and the manager ce and informed us of the other weekday specials. I’d come back…

Fresh, creative, delicious! All dishes made fresh onsite and to order. House made mozz to die for. Creative pizzas, delicious soups. Crispy, fresh salads. Oh, wait, I just described a high end, expensive Italian restaurant, didn’t I? Nope: this place has prices in the I-can’t-believe-it range. On a weekend lunch, the Giant and I had the lunch special: personal pizza and either soup or salad. Giant got the Cesar with his Margherita(did I spell that right?) and I got the Tuscan veg soup with my spinach-garlic-sausage pie. The crust was delicious: crispy and thin but not cracker-y with a delicious flavor. And I’m the person who thinks pizza crust is just a delivery vehicle for toppings, but I ate every bite. The vibe is cool, modern, but not uppity-tragically-hip. Friendly folks who genuinely want you to enjoy your experience. Olive oil and balsamic for the table. Go there. In fact, let me know and I’ll meet you there!

Fast casual Italian is the theme here, and it doesn’t disappoint! My wife and I stumbled on this place after shopping at REI, and we were so glad we found it. First of all, everything on the menu was affordable, with most items under $ 10. The staff was very friendly and politely answered all our questions, and the manager, Drew, was very hospitable. My wife ordered a pizza(the #5) and I ordered the special, an Italian meatball sub with bison meat. Both meals came out very quickly and they were delicious! The next time we are in the area, we will definitely be back!

Came here for a Unilocal event. I thought this place was great. They make everything fresh from scratch — sauce, meatballs, pizza dough, and even their mozzarella cheese. Very fresh, very delicious. I especially enjoyed their meatballs and pizza samples — ohhh, and the chicken parmesan was good too! They also have several varieties of wonderful gelato! Can’t wait to check out this place again and sampling more of their menu items!

Disclaimer: My review is based on my experience at a recent Unilocal Elite event. I wouldn’t ordinarily do a full review based on that, but since even the buffet style food service was so good, I have to assume that a la carte is as good or better. So, on to the review… Our menu on this evening included tasting portions of a number of dishes, here’s what I found: Caesar Salad — crisp greens and an aggressive dressing, along with a good, coarse shredded Parmesan cheese made this a very nice salad. This is so overlooked at many places. White bean soup — if there was a dish that wasn’t top shelf this evening, it was this. It just seemed a little bland to me, but the beans were tender and I think it has promise. Pizza — Both pizzas I sampled were outstanding. The crust was a true delight, with good seasoning and a nice crispy texture, it was far from the all-too-often seen cardboard like substance. Margherita had a rich tomato flavor and sauce, and the number 7(meatball) had slices of firm, but not chewy, meatballs and delicious roasted onions and red bell peppers. Lasagna — Noodles were a nice al dente, sauce was rich and flavorful and the cheese was nicely melted and appropriately gooey. Very nice. Meatballs — Spiced well, but not overly so, they were tender and not overwhelmed by the sauce. Chicken Parmesan — Nicely breaded(thin), it had a nice texture that had the perfect«tooth», and the sauce was great. I also sampled a couple of their gelato flavors: Pumpkin cheesecake — Creamy and decadent, it definitely had a little pumpkin pie note and an overall good flavor Autumn Spicy Crunch — This one was a knockout. I thought it «out-pumpkined» the pumpkin cheesecake, reminiscing strongly of the traditional pie flavor, but having added notes that also just tasted like a nice Autumn day in Grandma’s kitchen. All in all, the food was very good here, and I hope they will keep this level of quality as they move forward. Even if you don’t have time for a meal, make sure you try that gelato, it’s fantastic!

Came here for my first Unilocal event and was delighted by the food variety that we Unilocalers were given to try. It was a buffet style where we were able to sample their lasagna dish, huge meatballs, and chicken milanese. On the side was their caesar salad and their white bean soup. We were able to try out their drinks as well so I started off with a mango tea and finished with a latte. Food: The lasagna and meatballs were good, especially the meatball. The chicken breading was too crunchy and the meat seemed dry to me. The salad was tasty, but nothing special. The soup had a LOT of white beans. They also came around with some flatbread pizza and they tasted really fresh and flavorful. Ambience: It’s a pretty spacious place with a casual décor. The menu doesn’t get too extravagant. This restaurant would be a good place to get together for lunch. Their service was very courteous and friendly. It’s a very convenient location off of Park and Preston. Overall: If I was in the area and asked where’s a good place for lunch, I’d recommend this restaurant.

This was my second Elite event. Spezzo was good. The food was good. I have had better. I don’t know if I would go back. I did meet some new people and the waiters were very good.

I was able to try Spezzo for a special event and was so glad to get to know this place. I love the concept of a more upscale, order at the counter and bar restaurant. It’s casual yet nice all at the same time. Great to meet up with the family or have date night with my husband. For our meal we were able to sample several dishes — Meatballs, lasagna, chicken milenese, white bean soup, caesar salad, marherita pizza and gelato. Everything we fantastic. Everything was flavorful and obviously fresh and home made. I can’t wait to come back to try more of the pizzas as I loved the flavor and crust. The gelato was amazing with unique flavors and super flavorful. The service was great throughout the evening as well, always being available and attentive. They have a few taps and a good selection for a limited amount. We will be back next time we are in Plano.

Attended a special event that Spezzo generously hosted yesterday and I am loving this place! All the dishes were handmade and tasted very fresh and authentic, I had the pleasure of trying the meatballs, lasagna, chicken, salad and a few of their pizzas and I liked all of them! The gelato was very creamy and delicious as well. I tried the pumpkin cheesecake gelato I believe and it tasted amazing, there were even chunks of cheesecake in there! Out of all the amazing foods, I would definitely recommend getting one of their pizza’s that are to your liking, the mushroom spinach and margahita pizzas were great! Staff was very friendly and helpful and involved in the food! Always nice to know that the staff like the food as well!

Friendly people and great food just go together. Spezzo has delicious food, homey, fashionable décor, and a warm, accommodating staff. Great customer service and good food is what made me fall in love with this cozy restaurant. So far, I’ve tried the lasagna, chicken milanese, white bean soup, pizza, and caesar salad… and I’d like to give all of those dishes a Big Shout Out! All were delicious and fresh. The owner and general manager are really nice hosts. They gave us some good info on the restaurant, and let us know that all the food is made in-house, from scratch. That fact explains why the food was so good. Wait staff is top notch on customer service. The ambiance is casual and laid back, but maintains an upscale look and feel. Prices are very reasonable(even the cocktails are priced reasonably). Oh, and OMGoodness, you Have to check out the gelato. Spezzo has some of the best gelato I’ve ever tasted, and I am an authority on gelato :-)(I ended up buying some gelato to take home.) I look forward to heading back and trying out other menu items…, as well as more gelato flavors!

Oh my goodness! I do not have enough words to describe the wonderfulness that is Spezzo! My co-worker and I came here for our usual Friday lunch. Since we are teachers, our lunch hour is pretty early and we got here at 11AM, right when they open. I’m not sure if it was because we were the only ones there, but their service is so attentive! Even though they have a self-service water station, our server would go refill our waters for us! Wonderful service! In addition to the attentive service, the food is absolutely delicious! We got the zucchini cakes with Marsala sauce and chicken Parmesan pizza. The marsala sauce is on point as well as the perfectly crispy zucchini cakes. The Chicken parm pizza was original, but to be honest, I probably would not get that again. I liked how they brought out fresh parmesan cheese to sprinkle on top instead of the usual powder cheese. Even the the chicken parm pizza was not spectacular, the meal, atmosphere, and service made up for it. I still give this place 5 stars and cannot wait to go back and try more stuff from the menu!

Spezzo is a great casual dining option in the area for fresh and reasonably priced food. My husband and I decided to try it out for a quick dinner one night and were very pleased to find that we happened to catch their happy hour(3pm-6pm). They have some good beers on tap, including Peroni. I saw that the zucchini cakes were mentioned in quite a few reviews(and my fellow Unilocalers almost never steer me wrong!) so that was my entrée of choice, along with a cup of white bean soup. I was impressed! Soup was flavorful and the zucchini cakes were really good. They’re fried but somehow manage to not be too heavy. Husband had fettuccine alfredo with a side caesar salad, which he said was good, though I think he was a bit disappointed with the portion size. Don’t forget to try some gelato for dessert!

I really like the idea of this restaurant. The people that work here seem happy to be at work and are very kind. We were able to sit alone on the shaded patio. It was nice to have a romantic dinner but in a casual environment. The food is pricey and was only okay. The pasta comes in tiny bowls with a «side» salad that’s bigger than the pasta portion. The salad is just lettuce and dressing and the hardest croutons I have ever come across. I couldn’t stick my fork into them, so I would pick them up and eat them out of the salad like a breadstick. My boyfriend said the pizza was good, but was eating around the crust, told me he was too full to finish the pizza, and didn’t want to take it home. The highlight of our meal was the calamari. They were delicious and we should have just ordered a huge portion of those. The garlic aioli was amazing. I like the ambiance of this place, but need the food to be better in order to justify paying so much money at a casual restaurant. I DO want to return to try the paninis. They all look great. I feel like maybe we were just there on an off night.

I really wanted to love this place but it is a fast food concept I guess. Staff was super friendly and accommodating. Had the veggie pizza and arugula and grape salad. Pizza was average, could have been crispier and a bit more flavor zing. Salad was great! Nice atmosphere but I hope they add more to their menu or slightly update some recipes to entice me to try it other dishes again. I would encourages to try it at least once and decide on your own :)
