Steak ‘n Shake

Always Good and Very Friendly service. I Love the breakfast menu. The country skillet is awesome.

After being seated. We waited for over 12 minutes. Three wait staff walked by us 7 times and didn’t so much as take our drink order. After two other groups got up and left, we realized we would not be getting any kind of service. We handed them our menus and said we are leaving. No one has waited on us. Their response was, «okay. Sorry.»
Headed next door to Whataburger and Bill the manager was amazing.

Came because it’s been awhile since I’ve had a Frisco Melt and a good shake, at 8 at night the place was pretty dead, still took several minutes and the cook yelling numerous times at the waitress to get seated, ordered my food, got my melt, asked about the shake was told it’s coming soon, finish my meal and the waitress comes to tell me they were out of that particular mix, so she lied when she said it was coming. I’m use to late at night stores being out of certain things but actually say so rather than lie so I can pick something else.

Not the best place to go if you want speedy service, but that’s only because they’re always so busy!
The staff is usually really friendly. Honestly I think people give them a lot harder time then they should.

The food is just not worth it to come here. I mean the shakes are decent, yes, but all in all, the thing that really will turn you off to this place is the service.
I mean the drive-​thru guy is just so rude and disrespectful. Seriously, I didn’t do anything but treat him as respectfully as I possibly could and he just treats you like dog crap. Maybe he was having a bad day but for real, they don’t greet you. They just hand you your food and try to say nothing to you at all, and even worse are really condescending about it. Like everyone that they serve is an idiot condescending.
I get it, I’ve worked the food industry, but not everybody is an ignorant asshole. And the good people that go here, they don’t deserve to be treated that way. Horrible. Never going back. Avoid at all cost for this one, folks.

When we arrived we were greeted by a young woman who was friendly and she quickly offered us drinks. After we ordered our meals they came out a bit later than usual which was about 20 minutes. 20 minutes is not a long time but what we ordered corn dogs and fries which should have not taken so long.
I finished my drink and did not get a refill for about 10 minutes but we were not in a rush so we didn’t mind. The style of steak n shake is probably a cheap 90’s style diner. The food was pretty decent but come one. it’s not hard to make corn dogs taste good. They have a massive menu including some questionable, artery clogging burgers such as the butter burger??? …I’m not judging though, you do you. The waiters there are all pretty friendly but what made me really appreciate this place was the customer service.
I left my wallet in here and did not realize until I was in the car driving off. After realizing I quickly went back praying to God that it would still be there. When I arrived I asked about a missing wallet and they said it was in the back. I thanked the Lord and after receiving it nothing was missing. Everything was back in its place and the waiters were very friendly about it. Thank you!

Have eaten there twice in the past six weeks or so. Their prices seem a lot better than they used to, which was one reason why I haven’t gone to a S&S for years. With the coupons we get in the mail (okay, yeah I’m cheap), the deals are great. The first time we went we did takeout. While I waited there for our order, the woman behind the counter (I think she was the mgr.) was very friendly, although it took them a while to cook our meal, apparently.
Both my wife and I got a nicely loaded cheeseburger, two sides, and a shake. Everything was really tasty, and still hot after my 8 – 10 minute drive home. So good we went back a second time.
Dined in the second visit. This store needs to do something about their staffing. We came in just after 6 p.m., and there was only one, very young waiter working (Caleb, I think?). He was really polite, and had a great sense of humor, as he took a few minutes to chat with us. A pleasant surprise from a nice young man. Fortunately they weren’t extremely busy, however, as NO ONE ever came out of the back to help him. He was the only waiter, AND cashier! Despite that, our food got to us quicker than when we did takeout a few weeks earlier. Oh, and did I mention that was with ONE waiter working! Great job! Again, the food was very good (I think I may be getting hooked on their chili), and nice and hot.
Other than their staffing (NOT their staff — they’ve been great!), everything has been excellent each time we’ve visited. We’ll definitely be back.

The only reason I gave this place two stars is because their shakes are decent. They have happy hour for shakes at 2am which we’ve used a couple times.
Literally everything else about this place sucks big time. Their glasses and silverware don’t look clean ever… My friend got his order burnt and his order wrong twice! The service is actually the worst I’ve seen anywhere.

Horrible experience with the serving staff and the manager at this location. Would not give me a refill on my drink. There was a noticeable language barrier with the person taking our order, couldn’t add things on to the order and got overcharged at the end.

The food is cheap here, no doubt about it. But they are very slow and some of their waiters stinks.. . !!

I love this place I don’t come here often but the French fries with the Cajun seasoning are amazing and the last time I got a burger with mushrooms on it and it was fantastic definitely a great burger place if you want a fresh all 100% beef burger

You better damn be trippin if you flip floppity consider coming up into this joint. Servers here don’t give one flim flammity about their job. You better have brain cancer, be lost, and be dying of hunger, for this «establishment» to cross you disease ridden mind. And if for some reason the stars aligned and the flying spaghetti monster used his cosmic powers to put you into a state of mind control and forced you into this restaurant, pray to god that scientists invent a time machine so you can go back to a time when you were 20 years younger, because when I first stepped into this steak n shake Clinton was still thrusting his nuclear missile about the white house like we were still in the cold war but by the time I was finally able to place my drink order it was announced that the U.S. was gonna have its first black president, well from the waist up that is, (everyone knows good ol’ Teddy ruled with a «Big Stick»). To be honest the only thing I liked about this location was the sassy, funny waiter we had, the food was okay. Besides that it took almost 30 minutes just to order food because the waiter (his sassiness unfortunately did not make up for the slow service) was avoiding us because of our large group. Yes, I realize the small groups were prioritized but it took forever just to order and even longer for the food to come, they also kept messing up our order. My friend met eyes with the cook behind the counter and said that she glared at us angrily. And no offense to the cook, chill. Beside that I would not come back voluntarily…

Workers were very friendly and helpful. food was fast and delicious. Try the double steak burger! And it’s all drinks half between 2 – 5 pm! Also good prices! My whole meal was $ 5.29!

My first tip before you come here: Dine in. Don’t go through the drive through. Sounds strange, but the food always tastes better whenever you dine in. Also because when you dine in, they can take their time to make your dining experience and their food taste better.
I was disappointed when I went through the drive-​through, their burgers lacked flavor, and their shakes weren’t as great as I remembered. That’s why I recommend dining in if you actually want the taste of the burgers.
Maybe it was the alcohol and the hookah I went to beforehand, but Steak N Shake in the middle of the night is great. Adding their seasonings to the fries also made it taste quite good. I got their guac burger and I thought it was delicious. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t only go there when I had alcohol in my system, I’ve dined in even when I was sober and their burgers weren’t the best, but they weren’t terrible, either.
The one thing I could say about Steak ‘n Shake is that they really do have good milkshakes. Dining in, the shakes are pretty large and the presentation is nicely done. You don’t have to go for the food, but at least stay for the shakes.

I do not expect a whole lot for a fast food restaurant. They do have a wait staff that takes your order which is nice but they are very slow. Every time we needed anything, we had to flag down our waitress. The food is what you get at Stake n Shake. I love the fries. They are my favorite. Add cheese to them for a yummy bonus. THey do have the best Cherry Coke and milkshakes. The prices are great and they always send coupons in the mail. For a quick bite, the are good.

Good food nice atmosphere quiet enjoyable meal. Great shakes fries and staff. Try the Philly cheese steak burger today was very pleased. The Frisco patty melt is very good enjoy the sauce.

When I go here during the week for lunch the service is usually good with my normal waiter or waitress, but avoid coming here on the weekends. I don’t understand what the issue is with simply adding cheddar cheese to the existing ingredients on my burger that makes them forget everything else. Every time I come on the weekends this happens and when you point out, «hey you forgot the pepperjack, salsa and onion crunch», they look at you like you’re speaking another language. If they’re gonna charge me for the extra topping then I expect it to have what’s advertised too. There are much better restaurants near by that I’ll go to next time.

First time here, LAST time here! I walked in with my family and there were 3 servers waiting in at the front just talking! We stood there for a good 3 minutes before they stopped talking and sat us. After we sat for about 10 to 15 minutes and no one even helped us, my sister got up and asked a member of management for someone to serve us. Whats worse is that right next to me, one of the waitresses, Ciearrah, stood and talked to her friends the whole time and didn’t help us. Only served them! She for sure was our waitress as well but refuse to help us. We didn’t get silverware on our table and had to ask for napkins! I’m not one to write a bad review but this was my worst restaurant experience ever! Food was great but not worth the horrible staff and wait time! There were only 4 other families when we got there. Just a young staff with horrible work ethics.

After my last experience with this particular Steak ‘N’ Shake, I will not be back. I highly recommend if you just absolutely have to have it, you drive over to the one in Addison.
Earlier this week, I went through the drivethru for a shake only to get home and find that it was the wrong kind. It happens. BUT… last night, I went to pick up some burgers and shakes for myself, my girlfriend, and her mother and it was by far the worst customer service experience I’ve had in recent memory.
I went inside to place the order and the first thing I see are two younger girls (employees) sitting on the barstools near the register. They notice me standing there waiting to order but pretended not to. They continued talking to each other and to another boy who had stopped in just to say hello. The person who appeared to be the manager was busy behind the counter cooking and did not notice me either. After 5 minutes of clearing my throat and trying to draw attention to myself without being a total jerk, the girl finally stands up and «apologizes» for the wait. She wasn’t able to work the cash register because «this isn’t anything like the system we had over at Corner Bakery…» Seriously? So she gets the OTHER girl to come help but she was «off the clock» and refused to touch the register. Finally, the manager comes over to assist this girl with swiping my card.
I also forgot to mention that during this time, another family complained about having a non-​existent waitress that had forgotten to bring their sundaes to them. Nice.
Anyway, after another 5 – 7 minutes, an employee finally brings the bag of burgers and fries over but no drinks. So he had to go back and make those. He brings the 2 shakes but not the vanilla coke. 2 outta 3 ain’t bad, right? B.S. So I finally get home with everything, pass out the food… and what do I find? They left out one entire combo. So my girlfriend had her food, her mother had her food, but mine wasn’t even in the bag. Perfect ending to the worst customer service ever.
So in closing, this place is not worth your time or money. Skip it, and go to Whataburger if you’re in the area and wanting burgers in a hurry, or like I said earlier, if you must have Steak ‘n’ Shake, drive to the one in Addison. Let THIS one run out of business so that maybe someone will take over that location and run a business that actually wants to retain customers.
