Moving to Broward, I was worried I would have to drive down to Steve’s Pizza in Miami every now again, for pizza. But Mr. D’s is by far THE BEST Pizza on this a
Side of town hands down!

Definitely one of the best pies around this area comparatively. Pizza (along with Chinese, deli and sub shops, etc.) generally sucks in SoFlo, since I’ve been down here 2.5 years now. Simple but done right and very flavorful. A little pricey? I’m not sure because pizza is kindof outrageously priced everywhere now right? Around $ 15 for a large with a topping or two. I don’t really care much for the other items I’ve tried but pizza most definitely worthy of 4 stars.

Not sure why there are not more reviews for Mr. D’s. Do not let that dissuade you from eating here though. What the restaurant lacks in atmosphere, they make up for in food and hospitality.
Mr. D’s was a staple for me when I was growing up in Plantation. I moved away and forgot about them, but someone recently mentioned Mr. D’s to me. So, when we found ourselves in Ft. Lauderdale, we me made a beeline for Mr. D’s on our way to Marco Island from the airport. We stopped in at 8pm and were greeted warmly by Mario. I told him my story and showed him the discussion of Mr. D’s on the «I grew up in Plantation» Facebook group. We ordered a large cheese and a smaller size baked ziti (4.25). I’d purchased a Unilocal deal before arriving so my grand total with 2 cans of soda was 5.00 after my Unilocal deal was redeemed. Total for all was 15.00. The pizza was hot, flavorful and oozing with cheese. I blotted the tiny amount of grease, added my garlic and oregano and proceeded to fold my slice. Yes, totally foldable. Mario gave us some famous pizza bread to try and my wife scarfed that up. Our baked ziti was huge for 4.25. It also came with 2 slices of garlic bread. While we sat at the counter and ate, people continually walked in picking up take-​out orders. Mario and his staff were chatting with all the customers, treating them like they were old friends or family. We will definitely be back before we return to California.

First time delivery customer for Mr D’s, and I have to say there was nothing to be disappointed about. The order taker was efficient and friendly, the delivery guy was polite, friendly, and had correct change (sometimes that’s not the case!), and was here earlier than they promised! Yay!!! And then, the pizza. While I generally tend towards liking crust a little thinner, I recognize the nature of the business, and how it’s easier to handle «sturdier» pies when delivering. Having said that, even though the crust is a bit thick, it’s not the kind that chews like leather — very delicious, fresh, and held the toppings well, which, by the way, were outstanding. I went with their all the way option, and it didn’t disappoint. I’ll be back, for sure!

Delicious pizza! It is a hole on the wall, but I was definitely surprised by the quality and flavor of their pizza!

Mario is the best. Makes zatta too! Lol. Mr d’s has been around since I was in high school. Best meatball subs around that I know of. Awsome pizza with real cheese & fresh toppings! Save yourself the headach. These people are rude. the women hung up on me after arguing with me where I live as if I don’t know where my house is. She did not know the line didn’t disconnect but I was still on the phone as she was making fun of me to her coworkers, very unprofessional. If this is how they treat customers I could imagine they take the same level of pride in their food. The owner contacted me on Unilocal and was condescending and blocked my messages. I guess this is how they train their staff to treat customers.

My pizza was fresh and delicious. It’s real pizza so you should call first but will worth the wait.

I visited family in the Plantation area last week. Not wanting to cook, we looked for a local eatery and won the food lottery jackpot when we found Mr. D’s. The food was so good and the prices so reasonable, We ended up eating there 5 nights just to sample some of their extensive menu. The eggplant parmigiana was the best I have EVER eaten in my six decades on the planet. The portion was exceedingly generous and the sauce was so delicious! And, his meatball sub was tender on the softest tastiest roll I have eaten in a long time. I ordered a small the first time, cause no one makes meatballs like homemade. They are usually chewy. These melted in my mouth, and when we ordered the next day, I got the large meatball sub. Tuna sub, again on that roll, was delicious. Pizza, just like I used to eat as a child in NJ. He also makes awesome homemade soup. Had the chicken soup and a carrot ginger soup. Pizza Bread was yummy. I could go on, but my point is, this is one heck of a restaurant. The owner, Mario, and his staff were friendly and went out of their way to take good care of us; out of towner’s, who aren’t going to be frequent customers. That’s classy.

Take out order of the Italian Eggplant Parmigiana dinner, and a large cheese pizza. Drove 15 minutes based on the Unilocal reviews. Eggplant dinner comes with a small salad and the option to get a serving of Spaghetti on the side for $ 2 more, do this, it’s a good size portion. The pizza and eggplant dinner tastes great and I had left overs for the next day. Would I drive 15 minutes from the Central Park area to pick up an order again? Probably. The staff was friendly to me, they accepted the $ 2 coupon found on their web site. Don’t expect to be wowed when you walk in, the counter is a bar where 4 people can sit. There are a few workers behind the counter taking orders and preparing the food. They appeared to have many orders waiting to go, which means they are doing good business.

I’ve been a patron of this establishment since I was a kid. The sandwiches and pizza still taste the same! The owner, Mario, never forgets a face and is always friendly and cracking jokes. His employees have been there for as long as I can remember. You will not find a place in the area that makes better food!

Ok, I have to admit, I doubted this place due to the looks. I mean it’s tiny, old, and crammed BUT the pizza is so delicious! It’s really A1. Huge, thin, and crispy slices yum. This is really one of my new favorite spots. I hope someone invests in this small restaurant because the potential is there. My children are so happy, they want to come here everyday after school. I mean it’s cheaper than McDonald’s and it tastes wayyyyy better so I think this time I’ll let the kids have their way

Good Local Pizza. I was searching for New York Style pizza but this will do, to feed your apatite.

Best NY Style pizza around. Sandwiches are great. Try the Pizza Bread!
This is a long time neighborhood establishment… with a great staff!

Everything I ordered (calzone, meatballs and garlic bread) tasted good and came in good portions. The only reason I didn’t give them 5 stars is because the delivery took a good while. But maybe next time I try their pizza they’ll earn the 5.

If you’re looking for great pizza, this is the place to go. We stopped in after work. Ordered and it took less than 10minutes to get our pizza. They had a great special. 2 slices and a drink for $ 5. Decent size slices. Cheese and sauce were perfect. Not to much not to little! The employees were extremely friendly. It felt like a mom and pop restaurant. I can’t wait to take my friends here!!!

Thanks to Unilocal I found this amazing spot as I would have never known it was there. The pizza was really GOOD, Fresh and hot that I even had to order a second slice. I don’t normally eat pizza crust and I ate them both. Yes there are only a few seats at the counter to sit and eat, regardless the pizza was good. I rather good food than a restaurant filled with ample seats and nasty tasting food. They make the pizza in front of you so at least it’s not hidden in the back where you can see what’s happening. This place apparently has been in operation since the 1970’s and has the same owner since the late 1980’s. The employees were friendly and polite. For a Tuesday night they were rather busy which says a lot ! I think my days at Papa Johns have been terminated.

I’m another reviewer that enjoyed Mr D’s during my high school days many years ago. They were convenient, but I didn’t realize how good the food was! Now here I am, decades and many pizza places later, traveling to this little gem when I desire great Italian food with the best service and friendliest staff.
The only small issue is they’re more of a take out place with a small parking area. I usually call ahead and pick up my order that’s always ready when they say.

It’s been almost 4 years and whenever I’m in Broward, I must stop by. Consistent slices, consistent faces. Always a pleasure.

One of those rare gems where the owner Mario has been there for decades and used to deliver Pizza for them ages ago. It was my first time there, seems Mario knows all the kids in the neighborhood by name, very friendly. Even offered to to give me my 13 dollar pizza for 10 bucks when I picked it up and realized I didn’t have cash.
Very friendly, great food and from the minute you walk in Mario makes you feel at home. Good job guys, much better than a franchise with no personality.
