I love the atmosphere here and the presentation. The ceviche was excellent and huge and the lamb choppers were perfectly cooked although I prefer a mint jelly or a more savory sauce over bbq with lam. Our serve Allison was pleasant, attentive and nice without being overbearing. Unfortunately we were full So we weren’t able to try what looked like an amazing cupcake. Really nice upscale place in plantation.

This is a great place for lunch! It’s a nice, casual ambience but it’s also slightly fancy and charming enough for dates. If it’s your first time here, I def recommend the ½ soup and ½ sandwich combo. It also comes with a small side of chips and pasta. I got the grilled salmon sandwich and the vegetable soup.(They have a daily soup option along with the everyday French Onion and Peruvian Sea Food Soup.) The sandwich was one of the best salmon cuisine I’ve ever had: full of flavors, the perfect texture and presentation and it’s healthy! The vegetable soup was also very delicious. My friends and I were so in awe of the food that we decided to see how the dessert taste like as well. We got the peanut butter and chocolate sandwiches and they def do not disappoint. The customer service was also very excellent. If you come here for lunch, expect to wait about 10 – 15 minutes for seats. I would try to come a little earlier before the lunch rush comes. We will def be back to this place in the near future!

Let’s see, where do i begin well lets start with the ambience it felt kinda of like a cross between pretentious and street chic. Once you get pass first impressions there is delicious cupcakes and scrumptious sandwiches to be had.

So disappointed, have had catered food from here many times couldn’t wait to eat in. Was driving back south from Pompano Beach and checked on Unilocal what your hours were and it said open till 10pm, got there at 2:59pm and was turned away because kitchen closes from 3:00 — 5:00. Seriously??? Guess we’ll never eat in because We won’t be back!

Besides the odd greeting(hostess asked us how many in our party and wrote the name down, but never came back to tell us how long the wait would be… and then another lady actually seated us 2 minutes later) and grumpy wait service, we had an A-OK experience here. We both ordered Americanos, but it appeared that we were served up cappuccinos, based on the appearance of the coffee, taste, and the fact that our bill rang up 2 cappuccinos… oh well, it was milky and tasty though. The real purpose for the drop by to Mustard Seed though, was to partake in their cupcakes! Unilocal displayed various eye-appealing cupcakes, and MS was also recommended by a family member. I tried the turtle, and husband opted for the vanilla Oreo. Everyone eats with their eyes first, and these look perfect! Cake was really moist and flavorful. Ratio of frosting was also spot on, but my only gripe is that the buttercream is too sugary. Last note: MS is in an unassuming strip mall. The interior is more«dressed up» than one would initially think, based on exterior observation.

My husband surprised me for our anniversary and took me to this quaint, elegant bistro. The food was outstanding and the service was superb. Chef William chose our appetizers which included perfectly cooked lamb chops, scrumptious dates wrapped in bacon(which neither my husband nor I had ever had) and shrimp cerviche. I had the crispy duck as a main course, which was amazing and my husband had the rigatoni balsamic pasta that he could not get enough of. We ended our dinner with crème brûlée for dessert which was out of this world. I pride myself on being somewhat of a foodie and this meal was a gastric delight. I highly recommend this restaurant and we will definitely go back. Thank you everyone at the Mustard Seed Bistro for making this an amazing dining experience.

I knew from the name of the restaurant that they probably were on the same wavelength as me and I was not disappointed at all. I have been there probably 15 times since moving from South Beach to Pembroke Pines. This is probably one of the only restaurants in the area that gives me the feeling of South Beach, Midtown Etc. when it comes to ambiance and menu. And might I add the cupcakes are legendary legendary there are a few places Galleria cupcakes and the Mustard seed that have the best cupcakes in all of South Florida. The only thing I wish is that this restaurant were open on Sundays the shrimp and grits are amazing you can’t really go wrong with anything on this menu the Peruvian stew is everything…

Overall a very wonderful Venue. Listen not to the Nay Sayers about a ‘Strip Mall’ I find the best food is those small kitchens, the owners that care and pour their souls into their craft. The staff was just Amazing, attention to detail and elegance and light hearted fun. I highly recommend the Salmon, my friend ordered it, I should have. Decadently Light and Tender, the best I have ever tasted. The Wine Selection is Amazing, well appointed and presented nicely. This is a warm and inviting Bistro with the flair towards. The Cupcakes, they will shatter what you know from the Box stores, these are works of art, presented amazingly well and worthy of sharing and reveling in! Owners, my friend and I got stuck with the bathroom view on the last table you squeak in. I would have said something but all seating were tables for 4 and were stuck starting at people going in and out of the bathroom. Seriously loose that one table, it just put such a damper on what could have been a great evening. Remember, some of us are trying to be Romantic and Impress, if this had been a real date, I would have walked out.

My girlfriend kept talking about this place and we finally went. First off let me say that it has now become my favorite place to eat and I can’t wait to go back. When entering the place, the atmosphere was perfect. The people eating and waiting to be seated looked as if they had made The Mustard Seed a regular lunch destination. We sat at the bar since 2 spaces opened up and were greeted with warm smiles and very friendly staff. They were very attentive to us and definitely added to the great experience. Our food came out very quickly and was soooooooooooo delicious. It was warm, fresh and overall wonderful. We even split a pistachio Cupcake that was amazing!!! Thank you very much for making for a great lunch date with my girlfriend and congratulations for taking the #1 spot for me of places to eat in Plantation. I can’t wait to join you again!!!

It’s a great lunch spot! The environment is very pretty yet casual at the same time and the food is great. My favorite is the apple and chicken sandwich with the fish stew. Everything from the ingredients to the bread used for the sandwich is very well thought out. Everything just works! Best part is that you can get half a sandwich and soup combo. Apparently they are well known for their cupcakes. I’ve been here a couple of times without getting dessert because by the time I get to lunch all the cupcakes are gone! I was finally able to get my hands on one a few days ago and it was amazing! I have the maple pecan. The cupcake is moist and the frosting isn’t too sweet. Now I’ll never leave without getting one. If you’re full after lunch get one to go ;)

Delicious Excellent food for a place on a strip mall but in this side of Broward everything is on a strip mall Elevated favors and options, good wine list, friendly service Went with my husband and we both liked the wine and the food I had the sea bass with mushroom risotto and it was the best bass I’ve had in a while! Will certainly be back. So refreshing to find good restaurants in the suburbs because this area lacks good food. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this place!

This review is solely for Lunch. I have been to Mustard Seed several times during my lunch break from work, it is a small restaurant located in a strip mall on University Drive just south of Broward Blvd. across the Plantation mall. The lunch menu consists of a few appetizers, salads and sandwiches. The food is good, ingredients are fresh but I am yet to be blown away, especially for the price point portions are small. The sandwiches range from $ 11-$ 14 and are served in a french baguette served with a skimpy serving of the chef’s selection for the day like macaroni salad or couscous. Service is professional but can sometimes be pretentious, I know the restaurant is popular but it is still a strip mall in Plantation. The restaurant gets very busy during lunch hour so unless you get there early get ready to wait. Also, the seating is very closed together, you can’t have a private conversation, the seating is crowded and tight and you basically feel like you are seating with the people next to you.

This place has been on my bookmarks forever.. We stopped for lunch. It was crowded but no wait, Saturday at 2:30. Very pretty inside but loud. We ordered the bacon wrapped dates. I liked the it but my husband thought the dates were small so the bacon overpowered them. I had the steak sandwich and my husband had the chicken bri sandwich which were very good. They came with chips and pasta salad. The pasta salad had no seasoning. The soup and salads looked fabulous. I will try those next time. Unfortunately my husband’s ice tea glass had fresh ladie’s lip stick on it and well he was pretty grossed out.

I went with two companions who were familiar with the restaurant and like everyone else I know, thoroughly enjoy the menu. The little mall, one of many, was quaint, the restaurant itself not unlike a rustic French bistro out in one of the provinces, and the staff certainly pleasant. But for me the food was… well, underwhelming. I had a very plentiful salad that I could not finish but not enough dressing. I could have asked for more, my companions did for the salad they shared, but I just wasn’t into the salad, fresh as it was, to continue — it was more meh than«my.» Earlier appetizers of figs with bacon and a bruschetta were delicious. The figs though, came four to a plate. There were 3 of us. Is your bank gonna break if you slipped six on the plate so we each get two? Dessert was also yummy — a designer cupcake, I opted for a dulce de leche and was not disappointed — while it would have been adverse to my diabetes I frankly could have lunched on a dozen of those scrumptious desserts. I arrived with friends in route to Costco so perhaps we’ll stop by again, but because I’m on public transportation and this place is pretty much in Davie, I’m not in any rush to return.

This is my go to place for lunch! I have taken all of my friends here and everyone loves it. This place is located in a small shopping plaza smack dab in the middle. Once you walk in you would have never guessed that a place like thia would be in here. Its adorable decorated with plants and cute wall decorations. If you come a little before 12 you wont have to waot for a table as it gets really busy for lunch time from 12 – 1. I would suggest you try one of their iced teas of the day. I have tried their french onion soup and peruvian fish stew both are great, I personally love the peruvian fish stew-its a little spicy with clams, mussels, shrimp, scallops, and salmon in a red sauce, one of my favorites. For sandwiches, I have tried their chicken Waldorf, salmon, chicken and brie, and the banh mi Vietnamese sandwich. My favorites are the salmon and i lovelovelove the banh mi. If its your first time I would recommend you order the ½ soup ½ sandwich deal($ 12): get the peruvian fish stew(extra $ 2– but worth it) and banh mi sandwich. You wont be disappointed! For dessert, dont walk out without trying one of their cupcakes! This place is owned by a lovely couple, husband is the chef and wife bakes. There was never a cupcake I did not enjoy. Every single one is different and unique, and tastes amazing!

I’m updating my review because I went for dinner. There was a different menu and ambiance so it was almost like being at another restaurant. Except that I continue to be underwhelmed while others think it’s freaken awesome. I just don’t get it. I really took issue with: 1. They seated us in a small table in the corner — good — but the restroom door was right behind hubby so as I looked at him I watched people go in and out of the room. And because we ate there late, I got to see one of the employees walk out with the big trash bag from the rest room. I didn’t know the restroom was right there when we were seated otherwise I would have asked for a different table. 2. It was so dark — not dimly lit, dark — that I couldn’t see where the meat ended and the bone began on my duck leg. Even with the camera flashes, the pics came out dim. 3. They served me duck legs, not duck breast, as a signature duck dish. The dish of 2 duck legs over the mash and green bean/carrot medley used in several of their dishes was $ 30. I wonder what they would’ve charged for the breasts. 4. The prices. I had one duck spring roll with too-sweet poached pear slices over greens. This appetizer was $ 13. Really? Wow. Hubby had a piece of nut crusted salmon. It was on top of the same mash and veggies as my plate. He really enjoyed the fish but do you think one serving of salmon should cost $ 29? Our dinner of 2 apps, 2 entrees, 2 soft drinks, and 2 coffees was $ 98.58 before the tip. Are you kidding me? 5. They were out of cupcakes too. Basically, this restaurant would do GREAT if it was in the boonies where ambiance and border-line pretentiousness would sell. But for me, no amount of cherry gastrique is going to distract me from the fact that I just got duck legs for 30 bucks. The duck tasted fine but there was no distinguishing flavor(i.e. 5 spice, garlic, curry, etc.). We left the restaurant and as we were discussing dinner on the way home hubby had to suddenly brake — hard — because a Mercedes SUV slammed on his brakes ahead of us. I braced for the impact but our SUV stopped inches before making contact. Then I braced myself to be slammed from behind but the vehicle behind us swerved into another lane. We watched the Mercedes SUV move into another lane and then saw a driver — holding a green bottle — and driving a beat up old van angle his vehicle into the turning lane. We were in the middle of the street so we had to continue driving so as to avoid an accident. We couldn’t see his tag number as hubby drove us out of there. I believe that driver was drinking or drunk — and yes, I held hubby’s hand and stroked the door panel as I prayed my thanks that we weren’t in an awful accident. So dinner wasn’t stellar and the prices were steep. At least we’re home now, unscathed, and that’s really what’s important.

Not impressed. To start we ordered one of their appetizer specials, the cheese plate. It took 40min for them to just plop on 6 slices of meat and 2 scoops of cheese. Both the quantity and quality did not justify the price of the«dish» if you can even call it that. For entrées we had the duck and the salmon. The duck was pretty crispy, but tasted more like take-out, while the salmon lacked flavor with sauce that was more like jam straight out of the jar than sauce. It seemed like there was no creativity to the dishes since all of them are paired with mashed potatoes and veggies(asparagus, carrots, string beans). The mashed potatoes tasted like they were made from a box with heaps of butter, and the asparagus was either soft or charred. We got a spumoni cupcake to go which they put in a plastic cup(random). Good presentation, especially because I’m a sucker for sparkles. The frosting was light and airy, and the cake itself was pretty moist but nothing special overall. Service was fine, but as stated before, really slow. I would also recommend making reservations beforehand since it seems to be pretty packed. In the end, it wasn’t the worst food experience we’ve had, but certainly not enough to warrant a return visit.

one word… CUPCAKES! I’ve only tried the pistachio and that alone deserves the 4stars. My boyfriend is constantly ranting and raving about these amazing cupcakes. We finally had the opportunity to go here this weekend and there were no cupcakes on display! Lucky for us there was a secret stash hidden somewhere and we were able to snag one of them. The cake itself was light and moist, then my favorite part… the icing! OMG… crushed pieces of the pistachio throughout the icing. It wasn’t too sweet. The aroma of the cupcake was of sweet pistachio. loved it! Can’t wait to try the other flavors… I can go on and on about sweets but I will move on to actual food. That night we had a variety of the SHARE items: Crispy brussel sprouts with bacon and parmesan Shrimp ceviche with rocoto chili– tomato– avocado– sweet yellow corn: this was a pretty big portion and had a good amount of shrimp in it. Very good and fresh. Mongolian lamb chopettes with minted cucumber noodles: This was the only thing I was slightly disapponted with, not because of the flavor but because of the portion. The lamb had a great char on it and the flavors were delicious but it only came with 2 tiny chop“ettes”. Fish tacos served in mini wonton shells-tomato-avocado-cheese: the dish came with 3 small tacos on a bed of cherry tomatoes and I believe arugala. these tiny tacos packed a ton of flavor. so light, airy, and delicious. great to eat on a hot summer day. Overall I was pleased with the food and the service. We were on a time crunch because we were trying to catch a movie and the servers at the bar were great at taking care of us and getting us in and out. I can see why this restaurant has great reviews and I look forward to trying other things on the menu… especially the cupcakes!
