I was there a few weeks ago, service was EXCELLENT, the food was very good, however I did expect a little better for the price. The steak tasted good. however was not what a 40 $ steak should taste like or look like. The sides were excellent. and starters were very good. I would go back, however I would not crave this place.

I’m basing this review on a vegetarian point of view. There are basically two food entrée selections here for vegetarians, either the vegetable platter or the vegetarian burger. Trust me get the burger. I had a smile all over similar to a girl scout selling out every single box of cookies. The service is consistent, friendly and they really know their menu items. One side note: you may want to ask for potato items with no salt, I found them to be excessively salty. Wait times during the weekend can get serious. Carrot cake is a must have.

It’s been a while since I came here. Went with a party of 4 on a Sunday which wasn’t bad. 5 minute wait. It has a true steakhouse vibe with dark wood colors and exposed beams. Big booth seats. Very cozy. Great for date and family. Their service is always good. Extremely polite and considerate staff and very professional. They really are different from most restaurant staff. So far the best steaks that I’ve ever had was here and Texas de Brazil. I was always in love with their steak and fries ever since I tried it the first time. Nice thick steak topped with a pretty patch of delicious butter, served with thin seasoned fries. Their steak has the right amount of fat too. And I say… Fat is where the flavor’s at! If there’s anything else that can beat their steak, is their very own prime rib. Omg extremely delicious with the right amount of fat! Such a rich rich dish. Trust me. And to finish this beautiful hearty meal, order their HEAVEN on a plate. It seriously is a piece of heaven. Their freaking carrot cake. Not Too dense or too light and dry of a cake, topped with a delightfully sweet bed of warm soft cream cheese frosting. I can honestly say with all my heart, is the best damn carrot cake I’ve ever had in my life. Waaaaay different from a store bought carrot cake. Such a huge difference. You will thank me for the rest of your life. I took a star away because sometimes when I come here like today, when i asked for medium rare, my steak was well done on the other half of it. Our waiter was okay. Nothing outstanding or anything. Regardless, I love this place for their great steaks and carrot cake!!!

Upon entering the restaurant we were greeted by two hostess and seated right away. The ambiance is low lighting, old steakhouse meets modern fine dining but with a more relaxed price point. Averaging $ 14 – 30 per entrée. Not bad. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. Getting our drink orders, making sure questions were answered & giving us adequate time to review the menu. I went with the Steak Burger, medium well. Swapped fries for the NYO Mac n Cheese. Which was no issue. I fell in love with each bite. My burger was so much more — the steak was so juicy & tender it almost fell apart but with the perfect bread keeping it together it was all good. The ‘not your ordinary’ Mac n cheese was unexpectedly my favorite thing. I am still craving! The pasta was different(shells I believe) it was a mix of sweet & sharp cheeses with a hint of onion & crunchy topping & hot & gooey until the last bite. I found a winner! too bad there is not one in our metroplex but I do like to go when we visit San Antonio or Houston in the summer. There were several locations in Florida. Be sure to check it out.

Valentine’s Day dinner, so there was a bit of a wait. Approximately 45 mins for a table for 2. We were taken to our table, which was very clean. Our waitress came & welcomes us, asked us what we would like for drinks. I was in the mood for wine but wasn’t to sure about which to order, he wanted a beer. I gave her some details on what I was looking for, she immediately recommended ‘Meiomi’. She brought me a sample, which I loved & decided to order a glass. At the same time, we placed our orders, I ordered the New York Strip(medium well) with Mac & Cheese, which up until now it has never disappointed me. He ordered the Steak Maui(medium), which was very rich in flavors. Being Valentine’s Day, I would say, it took about 20 mins for our plates to arrive. They were executed perfectly. Everything was absolutely delicious. As we finished our meals, we couldn’t pass up dessert & we had to order the carrot cake. Of course, as always, it was on point. Most definitely look forward to having another dinner experience at J Alexander’s in the very near future!

This place is always packed and with good reason. The food is top notch. The service is excellent. Extensive wine list sure to please anyone, and a nice broad menu to appeal to everyone. My personal favorite is the Alex’s salad, their blue cheese dressing is a MUST, it is divine. And their veggie burger with extra glaze. For the meat eaters in my family the French dip is their absolute go to. A few other things have been tried here and not a single one has been anything less than delicious. Love this place and now I’m craving their food.

My husband and I came here for our 2 year anniversary. The service was great, I think our servers name was Kristen. She was friendly and helpful. The problem we had was with the food. I ordered a filet mignon and it was way over cooked, I had to send it back and wait for a new one. My husband got a prime rib and it was so salty he could barely eat it! The potatoes and the Madeira sauce on my steak were also very very salty. I think the food would have been good if it wasn’t marinated in salt. Also, I think you guys should give a side salad with meals because it’s too expensive to not get a salad or something! A salad would have been nice while I was waiting for my steak to be cooked right.

I’m not writing about my experience today, but about my hundreds of times I’ve been here. The food is awesome and the service is awesome and if it’s not they will fix it. Need I say more. Now leave me alone so I can dive into a delicious Prime Rim Seared on both sides. mmmmmmn

My husband and I go here every Sunday night. It’s our way to kick the Sunday blahs and start our week off with an awesome meal. We always sit at the bar. The bartenders are fantastic. So friendly. Tom and Todd do a great job taking care of us. And Tom’s food recommendations are awesome. He knows exactly what to add to make your food even better. Case in point: My husband loves the steak and fries. Tom recommended adding sides of sautéed mushrooms and madeira sauce. It made the dish even better. And don’t forget you can swap out your side dishes. I do this a lot. I love the West End Grilled Chicken Sandwich. But I usually get a baked potato instead of fries. I also love the Fried Shrimp but sometimes I’ll get tomatoes instead of cole slaw or mac-and-cheese instead of fries. The food is absolutely delicious. Other good choices(besides the ones I’ve already mentioned) are the Baby Back Ribs and the Crab Cakes. The Redlands Salad is also yummy — try it with the Honey Dijon dressing. And take Tom’s recommendation and get an extra side of the dressing. You’ll be glad you did. Love this place and love the staff.

J. Alexander’s was a delightful upscale lunch. I went here with my mom and her friends to celebrate my mom’s birthday. She chose J. Alexander’s because she wanted a slightly dressy place that wasn’t insanely expensive, and it seemed to fit the bill from the Unilocal reviews. My initial impression was that it looked like a steakhouse — dark wood, low lighting, lots of leather. We were seated at a round table in the center of the main dining room. Unfortunately, there wasn’t a ton of light(at 12:30! On a sunny Saturday!), so it was kind of hard to read the menu. Our server helpfully noted that there was a daily special menu as well as the main menu(which is one page and features abstract art on the back side, so my mom initially thought it was a placemat — hee!). Most of my mom’s pals went for the steakburger with fries or mashed potatoes. My mom got the Cypress Salad, and I went for the Ahi Tuna Burger from the special menu. I wasn’t excited by the side of orzo it was served with, so my server totally sold me on the baby kale salad instead. The sourdough they serve for the table is awesome! It was freshly baked, or at least heated up, and was a great foreshadowing of what was to come. Pretty quickly, our food followed. First off — huge portions! Massive! Well, except for the salad my mom got — that was actually quite a small lunch portion. The burgers looked fabulous — big hunks of meat on fresh baguettes, served alongside a veritable mountain of shoestring fries or mashed potatoes. My ahi burger looked just as good, with a butterly brioche bun, a huge burger, and a side salad that was bigger than my mom’s main course. And everything was delicious! My ahi burger was perfectly seasoned and super good. Honestly, I should have taken some of it home because it was so big, but I just kept eating because it was so yummy. And then there was the recommended salad — baby kale, napa cabbage, bacon, crushed peanuts, and a champagne vinaigrette that was just outta this world. This I took home, and it was just as gold hours later. My mom really liked her salad too, and raved about the fried chicken and the croutons that came on it. I can’t remember what else was on it, but she was a fan! After our huge meal, we had to force ourselves to share a piece of their warm carrot cake. That was also worth it! Whoa! J. Alexander’s was really worth the good reviews. I’d go back anytime.

I went here on new year’s eve(got there early before the crowds), and it ended up being a great experience. We almost chose not to go because we were not at all impressed by the menu options — very limited and it didn’t seem like the options they had were that great. We were very pleasantly surprised by everything we ordered(prime rib and rattlesnake pasta). The food was excellent, and the server was fantastic; we got the bottle of wine she suggested and absolutely loved it. Upon hearing her description of the chocolate cake, we knew we had to get that as well, and it was amazing to say the least — tons of hot fudge, extremely moist cake, and a huge scoop of ice cream. The outdoor seating area was very nice as well!

I came here with a group of friends to celebrate my upcoming birthday. Six of us and we all enjoyed our entrees. Burgers great. Salad delicious. My daughter ordered the Ahi tuna burger — one bite and I decided I have to go back to get one for myself! On the other hand every entrée was large but my Cypress salad with chicken and cornbread croutons was quite small given the $ 16. Price tag. Our server was a delightful young lady and the service was terrific. I think it is too expensive to go regularly but will definitely plan on this for special occasions and splurges.

Pretty good sit down restaurant! Fine dining experience for a reasonable cost ! M The portions are huge and the food is quite tasty! I like the fact that they don’t charge a corking charge if you bring your own wine. Salt and pepper grinders in the table are a nice touch. I always like fresh ground pepper. Very similar experience to Houstons. They keep the tables clean and change your silverware etc. You see the cooks in the open kitchen. My only complaint was that I asked for dressing on my salad and another person got the salad without dressing and we both got our dressing on the side. When I asked for more dressing, it wasn’t quite welcoming. Regardless of that, an awesome experience.

One of my favourite spots for dinner, and I always suggest it when people ask for a good American cuisine restaurant. The food is always good and constant. I love the Ahi Tuna, it is always on point and I always start each meal with one of their delicious pomegranate martini. The servers are always very nice and knowledgeable about the food and dishes. Even if you have to wait a bit on a busy night, it is worth it in my opinion.

By the reviews from others I couldn’t wait to get here. Especially when I saw the macaroni and cheese and the deviled eggs I was sure I would love it and my taste buds would be overjoyed. Unfortunately it wasn’t what I was looking for. I had the Maui steak which was the best thing the Mac n cheese wasn’t what I was used too I ordered a magarita drink which was great the drinks are all great and over the top. The crab cakes were way to spicy for my taste buds I didn’t get a chance to enjoy them because of how spicy it was. Don’t take kids here it’s a place for adults who like beer. If your going to take your kids hopefully they have a large appetite

UPDATEDREVIEW — I went for dinner and it was a completely different experience. Worthy of the biggest jump in ratings I’ve ever made: 2 stars to 4, regarding dinner, not lunch. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Did you see that couple seated next to one another on the curved bench of table 42? She bought him a drink and he got her tipsy by feeding her bourbon-soaked cherries. They kissed before they even got the app! Yes, hubby took me out for date night last night. So maybe I was enthralled by my date. Or the attentive service despite a packed house. Or the really delicious 4″ thick tuna steak and slab of prime rib we enjoyed. Appetizer: Actually, we were already sold when we ate the thicker sliced-than-usual, ice cold beef carpacio with fried shallots, crème fraiche, parmesan bits and a dressed arugula salad. Hubby has eaten many carpaccio plates and hands down said this was the best. The meat and salad were flanked by a row of crusty bread slices on each side of the plate. The crunchy bread. The spicy, dressed greens. The ice cold, fresh, premium steak. The sauce and shallots… what a delicious mouthful. My entrée: A thick tuna steak, seasoned with salt and pepper and a beautiful grill taste. It also came with two thick planks of juicy beefsteak tomatoes garnished with ribbons of basil. I swapped the mashed potatoes for acorn squash, a flavor I like just the way it is. It was very tasty. I wish they left the squash naked instead of buttering it during cooking. The brown sugar and cinnamon butter were served on the side so I was able to avoid them. Hubby’s entrée: A mid rare slab of prime rib with jus and loaded mashed potatoes. The meat was so soft — it was one of the best we’ve had. The mash was rich and delicious. Thanks to a friend who turned me on to their carrot cake, we took a piece to go. Seriously even if you don’t like carrot cake. Even if, like me, you initially disliked the lunch experience here. Order the carrot cake. Even if you have to panhandle out front. Yes. You’re welcome. We didn’t finish our meals so we’ll have leftovers tonight. And believe it or not, some carrot cake!

Normally i have a good experience at this restaurant but today was the exception. I desperately needed to order something quick as my wife was not feeling well and i was denied service. The hostess told me they do not accept orders to-go when there is a «wait». Apparently this is a new rule there even though i clearly saw other patrons at the bar being served food packaged to-go. I guess this is what happens when a restaurant gets too popular the service goes out the window.

There’s no denying it. This is one of the best restaurants in the area. It’s a great place to entertain clients, have a family dinner, celebrate happy hour, or enjoy the nice two days of Florida winter on their outside patio. I have been dining here for the past 12 years, and one thing has not changed. The FOOD. The food is absolutely spot on and perfect 9.8 out of 10 times. The very few times I have had a not so perfect meal they have gone completely above and beyond to make it better. I worked there for a few years I can tell you that the reason it is so spot on and perfect is this restaurant has the BEST chefs. Those gentlemen have been there for many years and everything they do is perfect. Being a corporate restaurant, there is unfortunately no room for creativity and individuality but those chefs ensure 100% satisfaction and fresh food. The service is always great, too. Everyone in the restaurant kind of works together to ensure you are taken care of. Drinks are always full, tables are always clean, and that means a lot to me! My last experience there was one of the best. For the first time ever I had the Ahi Tuna Salad. It was so good!!! I am new to raw tuna, and wish I had it before. I loved it. SOGOOD! We also had the spinach dip, and that was as good as I remembered. For my entrée, I had the filet, cooked medium rare. HEAVEN. It was sooooo good! I really can’t say enough great things about this place. There are some great servers, to name a few, Sean, Melanie, Gabriel, Rob. all been there for years and know their stuff! I must say that I was disappointed September 2014. My car was broken into, and I was told it happens very often at this location. I remember it happening when I worked there, too. I wish they would install cameras to deter it. It was a $ 500 bill to get a new window, and it kept me away from this particular J Alexanders for quite sometime. Please think about the safety and security of your guests and employees. I know it happens everywhere, but why not install some cameras and more lighting?

*I’m not writing of a particular experience rather my many experiences here. To the 15th or so times I’ve been here I can say that I have not had a bad meal or bad service. I usually sit at the bar and I’m happy to say that I always see the same smiling faces behind the bar no matter how busy it gets. And it does get busy here every night. My advice, make reservations! I recently had their night special Petit Filet Mignon with blue cheese and I substituted the mashed potato for their awesome thinly cut French fries. They have an extensive wine list as well.

I absolutely love this restaurant. Everything I have had has been amazing. The filet mignon, fries, and Mexico City spinach con queso are among a few of my favorite menu items. The caesar salad is my #1 favorite. They have a nice selection of wine and cocktails and the Meiomi pinot noir and lemon drop martinis are fantastic. I highly recommend this restaurant. Reservations are definitely a good idea, especially on Friday or Saturday night.

I have to ask myself why haven’t I been in this restaurant before. Amazing experience I have here. It’s a BEST place to bring kids, family and friends. And let me tell you about the staff, they are the best. We ordered there Chicken Tenders also called Mr. Jack’s crispy chicken platter. It’s sooooo good. I don’t know how they make it. It’s that good. I recommend to anyone looking to try this. It’s so moist inside and crispy on the outside. It’s the best I ever had. You have to try to see what I’m talking about. Also I ordered the Grilled Scottish Salmon with Orzo & wild rise. It was also very nice. They grilled the salmon to a point it’s still have it moist and the flavor. A great entrée for those who is looking for a less calorie meal. And for my Dessert!!! Of course the Carrot Cake. I looked on Unilocal and also everyone told me to get the Carrot Cake and you will never get it from anywhere else. Again I’m not a carrot cake kinda guy. Since everyone wants me to try I ordered it. My God it’s the best I ever had. Hope my picture do justice. First of all, it’s very moist and warm and the cream cheese icing on top. Its an Awesome Carrot Cake. I recommend this for anyone looking for an adventure. ******** if you are ordering the Carrot Cake for dessert, please don’t order anything else. Three people tried to finish it and the carrot cake won. But pls do order an espresso. You would need that.******** Overall it’s a great restaurant and a great friendly staff. If I could give stars for the serves, 5 Stars won’t do justice. They need at least 10 Stars. Outstanding service. Happy Hunting

J. Alexander’s is one of my favorite restaurants in this area. I’ve been here many times for both lunch and dinner and have yet to have a bad experience. Appetizers: The Spinach dip with unlimited tortilla chips is amazing. The chips are on the salty side so make sure you have water ready. The grilled artichokes are good but if you’ve never had them, ask the server how to eat them. Don’t be an idiot like me and chew on the entire thing. It won’t end up pretty. Every meal I’ve had has been great. The chicken fingers are a guilty pleasure. The prime rib is amazing. Again, that can be salty too, I love their tuna salad where you can get ether a four ounce or 8 ounce piece of tuna on the salad(depends on who is paying), the steaks are all great, the club sandwich-delicious. I’ve tried almost everything and to all good. Make sure, please make sure you get the Mac and cheese. They use their queso to mix in their macaroni. You won’t regret ordering it. Calorie wise you may, but Yolo. They don’t take reservations and your party has to be there before they seat you. If you want take out they will do it but you can’t order over the phone. I’ve always has great service and it always gets me back the office timely when I go there for lunch. I will always recommend this place to anyone in the area. If you go, please take me with you!
