Very disappointed to be typing this. As a lifelong foodie, chef and former Dalllas Observer food critic I am coming from an angle of experience and disappointment. We have been eating at this location for a few years. Pizza Time, Guido’s and now Pizza Village. I will preface this by saying the experience I am writing about was not a dine in experience but rather take out. Lets start with the past. In a nutshell… good service, great food that REALLY was always extremely well seasoned, portioned and MOSTIMPORTANTLYWITHPIZZA… baked!!! Skip to today«Pizza Village». I remind you this was a delivery so I don’t know if it is the same owners, Pizza Chefs… etc. I’m doubting it though. It started with some snippiness on the phone when I asked about the price of extra toppings. I was asking because the menu I was looking at had one of the old names on it. it was online. The answer was condescending and weak for someone that comes to work to deal with John Q Public on the phone. Put someone in that position that has a better disposition ALLTHETIME… even if it is acting. This is common sense. Then the food arrives. In a nutshell… Pizza — ZERO flavor. The sauce which I singled out and sampled a teaspoon of was absolutely lacking in any real memorable/describable flavor. We got two pizza’s. They were both so undercooked the slice would practically wrap around your hand when you picked it up… like a wet rag. The crust had seen NO attempt at flavoring either. Flour and water was what I tasted. This is a big departure from what I have been used to the dozen’s of times I have eaten at and from this location before. It «feels» as if it’s been taken over by another group and tonight they did everything wrong… from the moment they picked up the phone and didn’t check the attitude at the door… to the time I had to re-cut both pizzas because of the seemingly blindfolded attempt to get the pieces even and then break out the knife and forks for the gooey crust. I ate two pieces, my wife ate one and we thru the remaining slices from two large pizzas in the garbage. We would give it another go if it weren’t for the attitude we got on the phone. When I see the name change again… perhaps we will cross our fingers and give it another go.

It was my boss’ birthday so we ordered in and he chose the place. He said«Guidos» but apparently there’s been a name change. In any event, I selected my go to– eggplant parm and since everyone else was getting subs, I did too. I was pleasantly surprised. The eggplant was good, not the best but good. However, the real stand out was the bread. It was fresh and crisp while soft at the same time. Personally, I hate soggy bread. I’ve passed this place a million times but now I’ll definitely stop in and try more!

Classic pizza joint, nice seating area, basic service(only one server so expect to wait) but the pizza was big and crispy. Good food

I don’t understand the bad reviews. Yes, they are changing the name, they are waiting for the sign to be changed out front. The receipts already say Pizza Village on them. The guy behind the counter making the food at lunch time is the same person. I had a Veggie Panni and it tasted great.

They’ve gone downhill since I last ate there, the pizza isn’t flavorful and the dough is very chewy. such a shame.

Tonight was our first visit and we liked the fried calamari appetizer & our pizza. Really was filling so we took half home. No room for even a Cannoli. Very friendly service. All in all a good neighborhood pizza place. The menu was full of yummy sounding Italian dishes(Lasagna, Eggplant, Chicken, Veal, etc. Parm & Panini sandwiches, Stromboli, Calzone, etc.(Yay!). Quite a few folks were coming in to pick up their pizzas and one of the few tables(this place is pretty small — maybe 10 – 15 tables) were celebrating a birthday. What I was happy about was that they serve fried calamari. Many neighborhood pizza restaurants don’t. At least that’s been my experience. One thing that I want to mention is about the resturant’s name. It goes by both Guido’s and Pizza Time, so don’t let that fling you. If you’re in the area, stop in and enjoy.

I went to Guido’s yesterday and really enjoyed it. It’s a small spot, but has an authentic, old-school Italian feel. I tried my girlfriend’s cheese slice and it was pretty good. I suspect all of the New York pizza fans will enjoy this place. I had one of their specialty slices, which was a Sacilian slice of eggplant parmagiana pizza. It was sooo delicious! It had ricotta cheese and basil and was huge(only $ 5.50). I look forward to going back there and trying more of their goods.

Don’t confuse this place with the previous Pizza Time. That food was not good. We used to go to one of their other restaurants in Coral Springs, all the time but Guido’s is much closer. When I choose a meal there I like to try something different or one of the specials. I can honestly say, everything I’ve had has been very good. I can’t mention everything I like because there’s not enough room to write. All the servers recognize me now and are always so gracious, kind and quick. Every time they recommend something, they’re right on. I hardly ever have to wait for the main course and soup or salad and garlic rolls keep be busy. The prices are reasonable and the portions are enormous. We always have enough for another meal at home. They have coupon specials that are so low in price for all the food you get. Dinner for 4 for $ 26??? I have nothing bad to say except for maybe the parking situation with the Bonefish Grill patrons all searching for a parking spot.

It’s honestly just another pizza joint. Nothing WOW’d us, but nothing turned us off either. The server was very attentive, and the timing of everything was just right. We got some bruschetta, and it was delicious, although the bread was too crusty in my opinion. We also got a large pizza with two toppings, and there were left overs, despite it being shared between two men. I got the carbonara, and the server was honest and said it was so creamy it left her feeling not too well… I totally LOVED the honesty, but I still got it, because I knew I would not eat enough to make me sick! The pricing was high for a bowl of penne carbonara, sans english peas, someone must have forgotten to buy some peas at the store, but it did come with 2 garlic rolls and a salad. I would return again, I absolutely love Giorgio’s on 17th street, but this is perfect for a quick meal with my two kids in tow.

This joint is now under new ownership and it is called Guido’s Restaurant and Pizzeria. Their pizza was tasty but still not to my standards. The place is small, but nice. The staff was also nice, but ehhh… Just another pizza joint.

4 ½ stars. The second best Italian food place in Ft Lauderdale. I was shocked to find one place I liked better but Pizza Time is still programmed into the phone. We are pizza snobs and everyone loves their pizza and the side dishes we have tried have been top notch.
