My husband proposed here 4 years ago, so we return each summer out of nostalgia. Good thing the food is consistently tasty! I’ve tried a few different things on the menu over the years, but always go back to the basics. A Michigan with buried onions.(As another Unilocaler so astutely put it: «It’s a chili dog.» Yes, it’s right on their sign!) Also try the homemade(not crinkle cut, frozen, bagged, school cafeteria potatoes, because they do give you an option!) with gravy. Don’t think. Just do.

We came for the ‘dogs: a Michigan hot dog as they call it up here(turned out to be a chilli dog). Tasted very good, and the fries were amazing. Otherwise the place reminds me of a diner… can’t speak to the other food though.

I had never heard of this place and drove by it at least a 1000 times and didn’t even notice. I was going to another restaurant close by but when I crossed at the Canadian border and told the agent where I was going, he suggested Mc Sweenys. So I went! Oh my god, best michigans I have ever had. I have gone 3 times in the past few weeks and drive from Montréal every time. My wife thinks I’m nuts but… You have to go try this place for michigans or as they call them(Redhots). Steve from Montréal canada

The Red hots with onions, buried are well worth the 2 bucks! Service always has a smile, and they’ll even come out and deliver it to your car in the dead of winter. Priced are low to make it appealing for a date, and the food is all around delicious and filling. A north country staple from what I can gather so far, no reason to avoid this place when in Plattsburgh!

Steamed hot dogs covered in meat sauce topped with chopped white onions all for about $ 2.00? That’s a solid in my book. I’ll back up a bit. I guess this is a thing in North country, specifically Plattsburgh. I live by the motto when in Rome, so I had to partake. It wasn’t the best dog I’ve ever had. It was freshly steamed and topped with a meat sauce/gravy and fresh chopped onions on a soft bun. I think the meat sauce could of had a bit more depth, it lacked. I know, I know, a $ 2 hot dog meat sauce lacking depth? Really? You probably want to punch me in the face at this point, I don’t blame you. This real casual diner seems to be a popular local ‘red hot’ spot. It’s definitely worth checking it out if you’re around these parts and looking for a quick, cheap bite and wanting to take part in some local culture!

Tried out McSweeney’s for the first time this fall. Got a bacon double cheeseburger and it was really good! They make it nice and tall and the cheese melts all over. Homemade fries were nothing special almost too greassy. Unfortunately being a rookie in the place, i did not try a Michigan which i deem to do very soon.

The best Michigans(hot dogs with a chili sauce) in the area. Service is fantastic and the home made fries are really good. I don’t eat hot dogs often, but when I come up here I have them at least 2 – 3 times. Their that good!
