I wasn’t sure what to expect based on the website, but we were so happy with our stay last week that we ended up adding an extra night. The hotel is located right on Main Street, which is full of cute cafes and antique shops to explore. You can’t beat the location or the view! The Fitzgerald is a renovated building, so you get the charm of the old exterior mixed with the comforts of the new rooms(granite countertops, modern furnishings, etc.). We were told that the new owners originally renovated with the intention of selling them as condos, which makes a lot of sense when you see the rooms. There is ample closet space(three in the one bedroom suite that we had) and a full kitchen complete with full-size refrigerator, oven, microwave, etc. Also, there is cable with tons of channels, which made my husband very happy since it was a big football weekend. Even though we didn’t arrive until very late on Thanksgiving day after a miscommunication with the owner, he was very kind and met us within minutes to check us in. He also gave us $ 5 a night off when I asked if they offered a military discount, making our one-bedroom suite only $ 85 a night before tax. I did think the construction of the suite was a little odd – the walls of the rooms didn’t go all the way to the ceiling, creating a kind of loft effect. It looked nice but made it so that every light in the place had to be off or the bedroom was too bright to sleep. On the other hand, the only actual light in the bedroom was a bedside lamp that gave off a cold, fluorescent light. Also, the hot water didn’t last long most of the time. Finally, while the kitchen was stocked with plates and silverware, there were no pots or pans for cooking, which makes the oven and stove pretty much pointless. They do have wifi, but when I asked for the password the lady at the desk told me the owner said it hadn’t been working recently. I asked her very nicely if I could try my luck anyway so she gave it to me, and lo and behold, it worked fine! But even so, we had a great time and are already planning on making a return visit next year! Plattsmouth is an adorable little town and the Fitzgerald is the best place to stay if you want to explore it.

This reminds me of an extended stay hotel room, furnished with a kitchen, living area, and a separate bedroom — just like a mini apt. The hot water doesn’t last very long so make sure you take quick showers. 10 – 15 minutes max. There are little shops and cafes on the same street but I didn’t have enough time to explore.

We were nearby this past weekend for a NASA race at Mid America Motorpark and were faced with the interminable drive to Council Bluffs or Bellevue when it came to someplace to sleep. Luckily, Unilocal lead me to The Fitzgerald instead. It’s in an historic building and apparently used to be apartments so the rooms are super, well, roomy. For $ 109 a night, my son, mother-in-law and I got to stay in a really nice two-bedroom loft style room with a full kitchen. The bedrooms were small, but they were actually rooms, each with a closet and a closing door, which is great for sharing. The bathroom was small but functional, lots of towels(a plus for me), great water pressure, etc. We will definitely be staying here again for our next visit to the area.

Went in town for my high school reunion and needed a place to stay with Hubby and the kids. This place was PERFECT! We stayed in a two bedroom loft and it was so nice to have actual bedrooms. The full kitchen was great and there was even plates and silverware in the drawers. So nice to be able to buy a frozen pizza for the kids and make them a simple dinner for the night before we went out. Even though they don’t advertise it-there is cable and good wifi available! The beautiful architecture in the building is a joy and the views of revamped main street are beautiful. We really enjoyed our stay!

Nice little hotel. The new Fitz restaurant next door is a big improvement. Affordable and spacious rooms.

Okay, disclaimer — I didn’t actually stay the night here. However, some of my relatives(in town for my dad’s 60th birthday) did stay the night here and we had a dinner party in one of the rooms one night. I was surprised by how nicely appointed and spacious it was. It is also right on top of the Chocolate Moose Café, which strikes me as an exceedingly advantageous situation for a weekend date! Go down Friday night for a romantic evening at the hotel, wake up Saturday morning for a scrumptious brunch at the Moose. Plattsmouth is also a great jumping off point for trips to the orchards in Nebraska City.
