Daniel C Leung, DDS & Yen Vu, DDS

I had two appointments on back to back days. Day one: x-​rays and consult with Dr. Vu. Day two: root canal with Dr. Leung. Even before my appointment I informed the staff that I was very fearful and we came up with a treatment plan that was comfortable for me and them. The experience was wonderful. The front office staff was knowledgable and sweet. The assistants (Joycy and another woman I cannot remember her name sorry!) were incredibly understanding of my fears and walked me through everything at a speed I was comfortable with. Dr. Vu was very nice to me and easy to talk to. She went over all my x-​rays with me and told me what was a priority. Dr. Leung (or Dr. Dan as they say in the office) was wonderful. He was very straight to the point and gentle. I have had 2 root canals before this and this was the most gentle. I am more than impressed. I am going back soon to get my crown and am actually not dreading it as much. I will be recommending this office to my husband, family, and friends.

Dr. Leung and Dr. Vu are excellent dentists, and the assistants are genuine, caring people.
It’s safe to say that most dental anxiety is caused by the «numbing process.»
I don’t know of anyone who is okay with getting multiple shots to the mouth.
Dr. Leung has great touch; he takes great care to take the pain out of this procedure.
He uses topical, then gradually increases the depth of the «puncture,» so you really
only feel a little pinch and a little pressure. Once numb, both he and Dr. Vu make sure that
they numb you more if, at any point, you start to experience any pain.
Dr. Leung also has a good sense of humor, and I can tell that his staff really likes him.
He has a very good rapport with his staff.
I intend to continue my relationship with this excellent office/​practice.

Dr. Leung is an exceptional dentist, and his staff is extremely professional, warm, comforting, and communicative. I’ve been going to them for 5 years and I’ve never once had a bad experience. They are always diligent in following up on rescheduling an appointment if necessary, and they always do everything they can to accommodate me if I need to make a last minute change. I can’t recommend them more.

Best dentist in the Eastbay! I recently moved to the bay area & was nervous about looking for a new dentist. Once I made the appointment & came in, I felt comfortable right away. It is such a clean, well maintained office! The best part: having a flat screen TV overhead while you get dental work done! They give you headphones as well.

The staff is very friendly and make you feel like part of the family. Dr. Yen took great care of me and explained everything before doing any work. 5 stars all day from me!

Updated location, swanky new seating and waiting room. Décor is nice and well maintained. They have a play area for the kids complete with a television. The office is digitally upgraded from the past location. All rooms have hooks on the walls for coats and purses. Which are near the windows. Windows are open so you can see the traffic going by without the noise. I can’t think of a better place to come get dental work completed in comfort.

THE best dentist I have ever had!!! (I’m 63) Had multiple problems with my teeth and Doc Dan does everything needed, a one stop shop!!! I’ve had implants, crowns and fillings, I ruined my teeth from a bad divorce (long story). Doc Dan is very gentle and very careful, that means the world to me! It’s so hard to find a great Dentist, right? Here are the best!!!

It has been five years since I wrote my first review of the great dental care our family received from the dental practice of Dr. Daniel Leung and Dr. Yen Vu. Everything I said then is still true. It gets even better.
Our family has moved many times, and in every new place we’ve had to find new doctors and a family dentist. Sometimes we’ve been lucky, but other times we’ve had real problems. Now we’ve found the best ever. During our five years as regular patients we have consistently received the finest care of our lives from the skilled and caring Dr. Leung and Dr. Vu. Everyone in the practice is helpful and friendly, and the office is beautiful and relaxing. Plus, they’ve been able to accomplish something I never thought possible. Since I was two years old I’ve been going to the dentist every six months for a check-​up. My husband has had quite a different history. He grew up in a family who believed medical and dental care should be reserved for serious emergencies like broken bones and abscessed teeth, so he didn’t have routine care until he was an adult. He has been good-​natured about it when I’ve made appointments for him, but I’ve always had to nudge him a little. Things are so much better now. He likes his dentist! Since we’ve been going to Dr. Leung and Dr. Vu he cheerfully goes in for checkups and follows the advice they give.
I hope we never move again. If we do, we’ll want to come back here for our dental appointments. Make your first appointment and I think you’ll see why.

I am very anti-Dentist…these folks are fantastic and although I do not like going to the dentist, I make every effort for them. They are the best!

I’ve been going to Dr. Dan’s for years now and he’s done wonders for my dental health. My teeth were a mess when I first came to him but through regularly scheduled cleanings, my teeth are doing well. I love coming to his new office. Everything is new and his office is extremely clean. He and his staff are very friendly and very accommodating in terms of rescheduling and finding times that fit my schedule. If anyone is looking for a dentist, I highly recommend Dr. Dan!

My family have been coming to this office since my memory serves. I live 40 minutes away now but will still drive out to see Dr Vu and my dental hygienist Sophia. They are «out of network» but since my mom religiously brought me to these great dental people since I was young, I have «perfect» (professional evaluation by Dr Vu) teeth, it only costs me a few extra dollars for my usual cleaning and exam. I did need a couple of small fillings done last year, (sighhh…even the best of us miss flossing sometimes), and it ended being nearly a hundred dollars, but it was easy and it was with folks I trust. I’m having four veneers done next year so I’ll post and show my new grill then. Until then, please don’t judge.

I was really impressed with Dr Leoung.
I had left a less than sparkling review, despite how nice the entire staff is. (I wanted to change it but that doesn’t seem to be an option) Dr Leoung called me the same day to talk with me about my experience, and he explained a few things I didn’t fully understand. After our conversation he also emailed my X-​Rays to me. My old dentist really appreciated that and it made the whole process so much faster (and cheaper).
Dr Leoung was not only professional but he seemed to be genuinely concerned about any pain I was in. A dentist doesn’t have this many 5 star reviews for being unprofessional or lacking talent at his profession, that’s for sure.
I also received a message from one of the office staffers concerning my experience including quotes of my original review, which, in addition to being quite humbling made me realize it was necessary to add in this update that I was not mad at Dr Leoung or Dr Vu, but I AM incredibly dramatic. (And wordy)
My «teensy nub» wasn’t the reason for my original 2 star rating, though in my description I’m guessing it came across as being the major area of concern for me. Actually it was the horror that I might have had a cracked tooth. And in hind sight, I really should have waited until having the tooth examined before running with that very inaccurate telephone diagnosis.
After having the tooth in question examined, the cause of the pain was very minor and all that needed to be done was file the tooth for under a minute before sending me on my way to chew without pain.
I send my sincerest apologies to Dr Vu for any distress my original review has caused.

I’ve referred a dozen friends here and always leave a satisfied patient. Great dentists and a very professional staff. If you need a dentist in Contra Costa County, look no farther.

Dr.‘s Leung & Vu run a great practice! They are sensitive to the needs of their patients in terms of being gentle, considerate, and taking the time to really listen and explain what’s going on. Their staff from the front desk to the hygienist are just as nice and caring. Their new office looks wonderful, it has a modern look and makes you feel comfortable and relaxed unlike other dental offices where you feel cramped and claustrophobic. All in all, great doctors, staff, and office!

Dr.‘s Leung & Vu are both caring and kind professionals. It doesn’t end with them but their care and hospitality is seen with their staff as well, who is attentive and provides the personal kind of service you would expect from a good dental office. Their new office looks great! High ceilings with clean and modern décor that makes you feel welcomed and at ease unlike other small stuffy dental offices. I had a great experience with Daniel C. Leung. I was in desperate need for a good dentist because I needed to get a tooth extraction and crowns done, and was not have good luck with my previous dentist. At this dental practice, the procedures went extremely well, and they make you feel very comfortable during the process. I usually do not enjoy going to the dentist like most people, but due to my great experience, I will definitely be back to see Daniel C. Leung for future dental work and cleanings.

I had bad dental experiences growing as a young adult and never wanted to go to see a dentist. Things changed dramtically one day. I had damaged my tooth at work and. was trying to find a good dentist in my area. I decided to use Unilocal to help me find one. I eventually found Dr. Daniel Leung office and decided to take a chance. Glad I did! Dr. Leung’s dental practice is top notch to excellent! I had a full extraction of my front tooth and had an implant put in. I thought theres was going to be alot of pain? No problem, no pain. Dr. Leung staff is very informative about every step of the procedure and cares about how you feel as a patient. This dental office definately sets you up for victory! Its rare to see a husband & wife team in denistry and work well together. I definately would recommend them to anyone! Im even recommending my children to go to to him. Great staff, professionalism, service, and a smile!

SO FRIENDLY. That’s the first thing I thought of. I haven’t been to the dentist in quite a while due to not having insurance. It was about time I went back and my friend recommended me. The Unilocal reviews looked good so I made an appointment. First thing is that they have you fill out forms on line: what does that mean? No penciling forms with your personal information while sitting next to a stranger in the waiting room, then waiting for it to be processed and entered into the system before they call your name.
I walked in and they called me by name before I even introduced myself — way to be on top of it reception! I waited less than 5 minutes before I was called into the back where they started taking my xrays. It was with some newfangled machine so you’re not shoving something the size of a pointy brick in your mouth for 4 minutes while trying to stay completely still. Once my Xrays were all done they popped them up on a screen so I could see them. When Dr. Leung came in he explained each Xray shot and what he would be taking closer looks at. Although I wasn’t with him for a long period of time I felt like he was giving me all his attention. He asked me the right questions and took the time to answer all of mine. (Luckily I’m a brusher and flosser so I didn’t have too much bad news)
Then it was on to the cleaning. I believe her name was Sophie. Not only was she super friendly and outgoing but she did her absolute best to make sure I was comfortable and experienced no discomfort. No one likes the teeth cleaning portion, but her (obviously one sided) conversation was so fun it flew by.
Before I headed out the door it was apparent that all my questions about what I used and liked was noted because I left with tons of coupons on the products I prefer. I was shocked at the price too. I expected to be cleaned out — and was pleasantly surprised! Maybe I was assuming it would be expensive but the appointments and follow up appointments are really affordable (as I still don’t have dental insurance that was a blessing). I was so pleased with everything I immediately made my follow up apt. 6 months ahead of time. They’ll be in a different office by that time, but that’s a good thing. The ONLY negative thing I can say about this whole experience was that I could sometimes hear what was going on in the office next to me and I’m sure they could hear my Dr explaining things to me. I’m looking forward to the hopefully more private new office. However, even if they weren’t moving I would still come back. They are clean, modern, friendly, and clearly care about each of their patients.

Dr. Leung pretty much saved my teeth. I had previously gone to a string of low quality, dismissive dentists. When I first visited Dr. Leung it was because I needed a second opinion on a tooth causing me pain that a previous dentist had described as minor. Not only did Dr. Leung take care of the ROOT CANAL I needed, but he fixed the badly done fillings by previous dentists.
The best part about this office is that everyone is incredibly caring and kind. I never feel embarrassed about needing to have a cavity filled. Dr. Leung is very through, taking the time to actually explain what is happening with my teeth and why I need a procedure. They showed me how to properly floss, which has seriously improved my dental health.
It doesn’t hurt that the place is also super clean, and they’ll work with me on payments when my insurance wont cover a procedure.
