Sorry it’s nothing like the food you can get in Chicago. The Gyros is not carved from a spit and the sauce was not authentic at all I think they used sour cream as a base rather than Greek yogurt. The Italian beef taste like regular roast beef and was not sliced thin like in Chicago. The bread was so so. Not sure how their other sandwiches are. Must be good because they were pretty busy late Sunday afternoon

The fries here are super crispy, just the way I like them. It can get crazy busy during lunch time, so you may want to come a bit later. The sandwiches are beyond good! The meat taste fresh, not like cold cuts, and they are always really filling. I love coming here.

Ordered Gyros, meat was dry and sauce was dry like cheese. Used to good but quality has gone downhill. Will not order this anymore.

I’ve been here twice. The first time I got tired of trying to figure out which sandwich I wanted(there’s at least 26, most with perplexing names), and ordered the BBQ pork rib special and made it a combo with garlic fries and a Pepsi. About fifteen minutes later, it’s brought to my table. The ribs were very meaty but they weren’t very tasty, and a little overcooked. The garlic fries were awful — too mushy. A cornbread roll was also thrown in. I don’t like to pass judgement too quickly, so I came back a week later and tried their BLT. This sandwich was excellent. The bread was toasted to perfection, with lots of bacon, fresh tomatoes and crisp lettuce — the way a BLT should be. Like last time, the fries were miserable — only drowning them in ketchup would make them eatable. I know I’ll be back for a third time, digging deeper into their menu.

I was in Pleasanton on a lazy Saturday afternoon and remembered this place that served the Italian Beef sandwiches. It’s located in a supermarket shopping center on the corner of Las Positas and Hopyard. As you enter the menu of sandwiches are behind the counter in small script print. «Bring your reading glasses» Luckily I knew what I wanted. We ordered the Italian Beef & Sausage and the El Train sandwiches. Italian Beef & Sausage. 2 stars came with Hot pickled peppers(not spicy at all) Bread was good. Skimped in the Beef and Sausage. Bland Ala Carte comes with a pickle. El Train 2 stars 1 piece of pastrami ordered it with Garlic Fries which were topped with some sort of fried garlic mixture. The guy behind the counter would be happier if they had a paper menu so customers would not have to stand right in front of him squinting to read the eye exam of a menu. Plenty of parking. This place goes by another name of Chicago Umpires something or other.

I tried their new Barbecue Ribs this week. They were very tasty and I enjoyed the cornbread that accompanied the ribs. The customer service was great!

In all the years I’ve lived and worked near this place I’ve only eaten here maybe three times. It’s not that Chicago’s is bad or even mediocre… it’s just easy to forget given the location. I had a jerk chicken sandwich on this last visit and it was tasty… reminds me to make another visit!

I had to stop in simply for the fact it was Chicago subs! I’m not sure what the gentleman’s name was that helped me but he was amazing, remembered my name and was extremely helpful in helping me make my choice for lunch. Great customer service is really hard to come by anymore and anytime I am in the area I will definitely go back. Not to mention the sandwich was great too! I look forward to trying more from the menu on the future. Sherri

Sandwiches named after all things Chi town. $ 7 – 8. Make it a combo for a few more bucks. Lunch gets a little busy but food is always hot and fresh. Soda machine or draft beers to quench your thirst. Divey ambiance. Bartender/waiter/waitress usually friendly. Plenty of TVs with ESPN.

Very convenient since it is located across the street from my office and when I call in an order I can go straight to the counter to pick it up. But today bumped up the rating. I was getting a pedicure a couple of doors down and I called to place an order for pick up and when they found out I was next door, they offered to bring me my order! Sure enough, less than 10 minutes later my lunch was delivered to my pedicure chair! Chicago ROCKS!!!

Came here once for an Italian beef. The staff was nice and they have good service but the beefs don’t compare to the real thing. The sandwich fell apart as I was eating it and didn’t have the flavor a real Italian beef from Chicago has. Place was ok but it was nothing special to make me want to come back.

Stopped here after a suggestion from SIRI. Fast service, clean location and GREATFOOD!!! I had the Philly cheesesteak sandwich and some cheese/bacon fries. Both were outstanding! $ 16 for that and a drink, not a bad price. Not easily accessible to the freeway, but worth the drive

Not sure why the rating is so low here… it’s an old fashioned burger/hot-dog/sandwich joint that you can’t find anymore in the age of Subway. Not only is the food delicious and reasonably priced, the people working here and the customers eating here all treat you like family the second you walk in. This here’s a small slice of America that’s become a rare gem. Pop in and enjoy your meal AND your time! P. S. The fries came out so piping hot I almost burned my fingers, and seasoned to perfection you wouldn’t WANT to put ketchup on it!

The search for a good Italian beef spot is over! My old spot was Gumbah’s in Vallejo… they have since been closed down. Thanks to Unilocal,I found this hidden gem. Is it cheap… no but quality Italian beef is never cheap, but it is awesomely delicious! The portion size is pretty decent. I was able to split an Italian beef sandwich with fries and a drink with my wife and we both left stuffed. The au jus just kicked up the sandwich over the top! Definitely a must if you are out in the Pleasanton area. Friendly and quick service… go go go!

I’m from Chicago. The dog was great, just like home. Beef was really good too. The bread isn’t quite like the Italian rolls back home, but still really good. Nice to have a local place to satisfy my cravings.

Checked out CMD for lunch over the weekend. I love my usual Italian sub so I ordered their Sears Tower, which had salami, pastrami, and mozzarella. When it came out, I was a little disappointed as the sandwich was small, barely 5″ if that. For $ 8, I would’ve expected a bigger, hearty sandwich. Beyond that, the sandwich was just okay, tasted something like I could’ve whipped up at home. I noticed they had burgers and dogs on the menu, which I’m tempted to try next time. But as for the sandwiches, I’ll pass. The guy working behind the counter was pretty cool and the spot itself is okay, feels a little too much like a bar, but it was clean. Sidenote: I loved reading the story about Martin Garcia on one of the tables, I thought that was really cool CMD paid such homage to him. #JustOKsando

Updating my review from below. I am modifying to my prior review below. They have fixed the phone order/pick-up issue. When you call ahead, they ask how soon you will be there. If the line is long when you arrive, they will call out your name and then ring you up at the cash register(no more waiting!!!). Great food, quick, good service, and very personable staff. Great option if you need something on-the-go. General tips: — gets really busy between 12 –1pm. Plan ahead/go earlier — fries(in general) are ALWAYS better fresh(versus«to go») because the extra steam can make ‘em soggy.

Love the sandwiches here! Just walked in after not coming for a fee weeks and Darren remembered my name! Now that’s incredible service ;) Some of my favorite sandwiches are State Street, The Jerk, The Cubwich and Lookin’ at Lucky. The fries here are amazing too! One of the best sandwich shops!

Chicago’s Deli is a great place to enjoy some comfort food for lunch. They have a good variety of sandwiches as well as salads. Some of my favs are: –State Street Sandwich: grilled chicken and grilled onions… of course there is bacon as well making this a fantastic sandwich! –Chili Dog: I told you there was some good comfort food here! The chili is a really nice consistency and when I order it without the bun they cut up the hot dog and throw it in a bowl of chili for me. Love you guys for this! — Harry Carry Sandwich– smoked turkey and gouda with a nice spicy brown mustard. Need I say more? I am not particularly a fan of the sides but I am super picky when it comes to french fries. I like them skinny and crispy– I don’t eat a lot of carbs so when I do I want them to be just the way I like them! Many of my french fry loving friends enjoy the fries here. I also like my onion rings crispy and flaky. The onion rings here are good but not fall off the seat good. The customer service is awesome no matter how busy it is– and it is usually busy. Call ahead and you can pick things up if you are in a hurry. Otherwise, sit down, relax and enjoy your time at Chicago’s!

1st visit here, for lunch. Nice people behind the counter. HUGE menu. Had ‘The Mobster’(meatball sandwich). This is no ‘out –of-the-can’ sauce. You can tell that the meatballs and the sauce are fresh made. No canned sauce here. I’ll be back. It will take a while to work through this menu.

Had lunch with my family at Chicago’s on Saturday. Now I have been to Chicago’s time and time again. I am usually satisfied, but this time I was a little disappointed and disgusted. My Ranch salad was ordered with grilled chicken breast. I expected nice white pieces of chicken on my salad and had to pick the chicken off because it was raw. Not one or two pieces, but half of the chicken on the salad. Yuck. All of the other items ordered by my hubby and kids, were great. Now I have worked in food service the better part of my teens and catered in my early to mid 20’s, so I know what I witnessed is not ok. As we ordered our food, there was an employee sitting on the back counter with his basketball shorts on. This is the same prep area the food is transferred from the area the cook places it from the back. Gross! I keep a clean kitchen at home and would never allow anyone to sit on countertops or dining room tables. Your rear end does not belong where food is placed or eaten off of. Not clean. I will go back to Chicago’s because the food is good and the staff is always pleasant. However, I would like to suggest the staff take food prep and handling courses. I would like to know my food is not being prepped on the same surface some young boy is sitting on. ”

I’ve been here more times than I can count because it’s so close to BOTH soccer and softball games. My husband loves it, my kids love it, and I partially like it. I love their spicy chicken tortilla soup along side an ice cold shock top. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed some of their hot sandwiches, but also had the soggiest, most disgusting veggie burger of all time! I also think that their chicken strips are gross, the rest of my family disagrees. They do have TV’s so we usually catch whatever sport is on, nice! My biggest complaint is that there are always a ton of flies in there, and that the bathrooms are downright disgusting, they always wreak of piss and they really need to be remodeled/updated. The staff is usually very friendly and patient. I say patient because their menu offers a LOT of great sandwich choices, and it usually takes me a while to decide. So three stars it is, until my kids hack into my account and give it 5!

I’ve driven by this place a million times. I’ve had co-workers and friends ask me if I’ve ever eaten at this place. And until last week, I’ve never been here. My daughters and I came here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. It was actually pretty quiet, I was expecting more people to be there. My girls decided quickly with what they wanted to eat. My twins ordered chicken strips with french fries and my youngest ordered grilled cheese with french fries. I ordered the BTLA with a side of garlic fries. I thought that the kids meals had a nice price point, since their meals came with regular sized drinks. Our total came to just under $ 30. It was a really nice afternoon, so we sat outside. There was a cheer group that had a large party, they were all sitting outside as well. I feel like this is a good place to come when you’re craving some good, American food at a decent price and quick-ish service. The guy and woman that were working were friendly enough, I didn’t see anything wrong with their attitudes, as others have previously mentioned about this place. My kids and I both liked it, we’ll be back again soon.
