This is has been a go to dinner spot for my wife and I. I think this location needs some attention from the owner. Food has not been the greatest the last few visits. Recently ordered simple spaghetti and meatballs and a salad. The meatballs were over cooked and hard, the overall dish had zero flavor and the salad was not crispy. Seemed old. Great location and environment if they can get the food back.

Talk about a great meal — from start to finish. The drinks were done«just right,» the apps were a delicious meal in themselves, the entrees were perfect(has anyone made short-rib ravioli this good… ever?) and the chocolate torte(dessert) was remarkable. To top it off, our server/bartender, Linda, couldn’t have been better. She offered terrific suggestions, was personable, professional, and she had a great sense of humor. We will be back!

We had a group of 12. They were very accommodating and everyone thought the food was very good. Fresh, and we had a few foodie in the group.

Excellent Chicken Picatta and the LBC cocktail you do not want to miss. Much improved from when it originally opened.

Been here many times and it is hit and miss as usual. Just ordered the Chicken Picata and the chicken was rubbery and you would think that there was a global pasta shortage by the paltry amount served. Not sure when or if I will return.

I started with the soup of the day, a cup of creamy tomato soup with shaved Parmesan cheese. It was delicious! My SO had the insalata della casa which was iceberg lettuce, Gorgonzola cheese, bacon, & shaved red onion. He finished every bite. For my entrée I had the chicken Parmesan which was served with spaghetti. The tomato sauce was so good. The portion of chicken was ample. I took half of it home. My SO had the short rib gnocchi. It was served with fresh peas in a beef broth. He finished it all. We shared the affogato for dessert, vanilla gelato with a shot of illy espresso & a biscotti. All in all, a great meal. It did take quite awhile to get our food, so if your in a hurry, it’s not for you. We had plenty of time to spare, so it was a good experience. We definitely will return to try other menu items. My SO is italian, so we know good italian food! This was good quality, homemade italian food & worth the wait!

Made another recent visit and wanted to update my review. I have been here several times since it has opened and each time we have had a delicious meal with great service. The Happy Hour has a great deal with half off of pizza and pasta and drinks! The pizza was a perfect size for one person and was great tasting. We plan on going back tonight with the whole family.

Not a good experience. Over cooked chicken and very slow service. Entire crew seemed inexperienced. Disappointed overall. The main course was so dry I couldn’t eat the meat. And the bigger disappointment was it was too long of a wait to order something else to replace it or to have them correct it. The server removed it from the bill. She did the right thing. But she forgot to refill our drinks when we asked for another round and we left without getting that either. Not likely to give them another try, as there are too many other options in town. When too many things go wrong, it is a symptom of larger issues. Perhaps if the reviews improve or if this place becomes the next«it place», it might get a revisit by me.

What happened to lunch service? Still our favorite place on Main Street, but without the handy lunch option it used to provide, we’re sad. Simply no one on Main Street does a better quality salmon, though it’s pricey and not a generous helping. Quality over quantity on that one. Hope things turn around for them soon and they can offer lunch again.

I give this place props for a great environment and menu. However, the execution of the food does leave some to be desired. Had the house made gnocchi with cream sauce my last time here. Great flavor but the gnocchi was soft and mushy. If they tune up the kitchen a little bit, I would love to be a regular.

I really enjoy this restaurant. The quality of the food is delicious and the ambiance is nice. Francisco is a great, personable server and is very familiar with the menu. He has great suggestions on what to order. I would definitely recommend the Insalata Mista. My parents also ordered salads are were really pleased with their entrée! The portions are large and very filling! And that bread though… YUM!

I’m sad to say after YEARS of being a customer, our time has come to an end. I moved 2 hours away yet made sure whenever I came into town, we’d stop in either around lunch time, or make sure to get there at dinner time to get meatballs to go. I’m addicted to their meatballs & sauce & they know that. This last time, I was even inquiring as to a cater size tray of meatballs & sauce so I can freeze it at home. For dinner with my Mom & take home, we order 1 order of eggplant parm with spaghetti, 1 order of tiramisu & a total of 7 orders of meatballs. Luckily, happily, I walked in to a FULL restaurant! Yay for them on a Friday night! Made my way back to the open kitchen area to say hi & was lucky enough to get a small container of sauce & some shaved parm. At that moment, I had no idea how lucky I was to have that sauce. I made it home maybe 15 minutes later & started unpacking the bags. 1 container of sauce, 1 container of cheese, 1 container of meatballs. No sauce in that container. I continue unpacking the bag of meatballs. 1 out of 7 has sauce! 6 out of 7 containers: NOSAUCE. Now we start unpacking the eggplant for dinner. As we begin to open it, an odd little smell comes out. The eggplant is burned. It’s dry. No sauce. It gets thrown in the garbage. What am I going to do? The restaurant closes in less than 1 hour. I’m hungry & upset. I just spent over $ 75 on dinner only to be thrown away? There are no lunch hours on a Saturday so I can’t even speak to them before I leave town! I take photos & private message on FB. How else can I get through? After a few days of back & forth messages, Peter doesn’t believe the meatballs are burnt as he can’t see that in the photos. He never acknowledged the lack of sauce. Again, I’ve been coming here a long time. Sending anyone who will listen. I’m totally open to a gift card! I’ll come back & try again! The gift card offer was for $ 25. I’m sorry. That’s covers 3 orders of meatballs. I bought 7 + eggplant! So, after all of this, I’ve chosen to write my Unilocal review, add the photos & say Arrivederci Mangia Mi. Sad it had to end this way…

To start off my night Kanye dropped a FIRE song which boosted my appetite… Then my boyfriend and I walked in and started off with the bruschetta. It was absolutely amazing! Perfect to split between two people. Not like most bruschetta, these tomatoes were longer and oven roasted. I got the Gnocchi Gorgonzola and my boyfriend got Chicken Parmesan. His Chicken was VERY chewy but the pasta and sauce were nice. I have NO complaints for my dish. It was the best meal I’ve had in a long time. The Gorgonzola Cream Sauce is to DIEFOR! A must try. It was a good date night.

I normally go to Mangia Mi in Danville, but living in San Ramon, I’m situated almost in between Pleasanton & Danville, so I decided to give the Pleasanton restaurant a try for a change. Not overly impressed, Pleasanton — a steep drop-off from the Danville location. I arrived with friends on a Sunday evening to a pretty empty restaurant — no problem there, just an observation. Upon entering, I went to wash my hands before sitting down at our table(imagine that — hand washing before a meal!) As I arrived at the table, I was taking off my coat and in the process of placing it on the back of my chair when the waiter showed up and asked if we were ready to order… whoa! C’mon guy, I haven’t even sat down! Note to waiters everywhere: learn to observe timing and social cues, it will serve you well in your occupation. After beating the guy back, he returned in a bit with drinks and we ordered our meals. My friend ordered a Caesar salad before his pasta and what arrived blew our minds… a mountainous pile of greens enough to share with our table of four. Unfortunately, he was the only one eating it. You’d think the waiter would have offered a smaller salad knowing there was a plate of pasta coming soon. Needless to say, most of the salad went untouched and ended up in the trash — a bummer. Pastas were quite good — no complaints. During dinner, we could see one of the chef/cooks leaning on the counter with his elbows, eating something and continuously wiping his hands across his apron on his chest — how pleasant. 1) I would prefer not to see the chef’s elbows on the food prep area 2) fingers to the mouth — gross 3) Wash your hands and use a napkin if you have to eat during your shift 4) I know you’re bored, but couldn’t you politely take a break and eat out of sight of the patrons — especially if you are going to forgo using a fork? Finally, the waiter proved to have really poor timing throughout the meal, he seemed inexperienced(Sunday evening shift training?) and was nowhere as skilled as his Danville Mangia Mi counterparts. Barely 3 stars(should be a solid 4 – 5 star restaurant) Disappointing.

The bruschetta is wonderful. Three pieces of grilled bread are covered with perfectly oven-roasted red and yellow tomatoes, balsamic vinaigrette, pecorino Romano cheese, and basil. It is one of the best bruschetta I’ve eaten. Lucy and I ordered it both times we had lunch here. We did try a different pizza and a different salad at each time we came here. We’ve shared: The roasted beet salad; beets, marcona almonds, goat cheese, wild arugula, and dressed with orange blossom honey vinaigrette. This salad reminded me just how tasty beets can be. The stacked salad with garden fresh vegetables was dressed with simple vinaigrette. It was good, but had zucchini – a dreadful vegetable IMHO. The pear & gorgonzola pizza was good and as the name suggest, the toppings were pears, gorgonzola dolce, mozzarella, parmesan, and caramelized onions. The other pizza we tried was the prosciutto mozzarella pie, it was topped with 16-month prosciutto di San Daniele, wild arugula, and extra virgin olive oil. We enjoyed this pizza also. I do think, however, that I would prefer a tomato sauce pizza and they do have those on the menu. One of the benefits of not rushing back to work is being able to enjoy a glass of wine or a cocktail with lunch. I don’t remember what wine we had other than it was an Italian wine and it was good. I do remember the cocktail. The rye Manhattan is a perfect blend of Templeton rye whiskey, carpano antica Italian vermouth, with a dash of bitters. It was so good I wanted another one, but did realize that it would not be a good idea as I was driving. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating. I prefer the outside seating if it is a nice day. Pleasanton is a pretty town with a classic main street, and it is easier to enjoy the small town feeling sitting outside. I enjoyed the bruschetta and cocktail so much that I would go back just to have them again!

Cool, contemporary and classy Italian restaurant. Great rich food and excellent service. Loved my pancetta carbonara pasta dish. Friend loved his ravioli bolognese dish. Can’t wait to bring my wife and friends here!

I had dinner here with a dear friend of mine here last weekend and I am so glad. I had been to the Mangia Mi in Danville a couple of times and had always had good food with good service. This location, better food and better service. We were seated at a 2 top and had a really nice waiter. I ordered Diet Coke and it was refilled as fast as I was sucking them down as well as a carafe’ of ice cold water for us to share. My friend had wine. Bread and olive oil were brought and of course, asked for butter(my weakness). We opted to split the Italian Chopped Salad and for my main I had the chicken parmesan(was helped by the waiter to decide between 2 dishes), The salad was GINORMOUS. Split it was easily enough for each of us as an entire meal. LIghtly dressed and yummy ingredients inside. When our meals came, my chicken parmesan was presented in a large bowl, spaghetti on the bottom and perfectly cooked split chicken breast with a light sauce and the requisite cheese. I was quite pleased as this was not a heavy chicken parmesan and was probably one, if not, the best version of this dish I have ever had. I look forward to coming back here.

Went here for lunch the other day with my mom. We shared a couple items being a fennel, arugula and grapefruit salad. While it was very light and refreshing we felt the dressing lacked flavor and was a little oily. We also got a bowl of their soup which was pancetta and spinach. It was delicious. A hearty vegetable with just enough seasoning to not be too salty. We also go the Brie and bacon pizza. Which had some apple slices on it. I think the apple slices could have been sliced a little thinner as they were more of chunks but overall the pizza was yummy. A nice doughy crust just how we like it. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. We sat outside and sometimes that can leave you being forgotten about but he did a nice job of staying on top of everything we needed. One thing I will mention with running the risk of sounding uptight. There were no lunch specials. I find that to be a little strange that a classic restaurant spot like this found in the heart of downtown Pleasanton isn’t running any lunch time specials. I personally love additional items to the menu and felt that was a little strange. That’s all. Maybe it was just the day we went on. Overall a very nice meal and we will be back for more lunches to come. Thank you.

I dined at Mangia Mi for the first time yesterday and really enjoyed my experience! My co-worker and I shared the Insalata Mista($ 10) and the Brie and Bacon Pizza($ 17). The salad ingredients were fresh and the pizza was absolutely drool-inducing. The restaurant is so well decorated and our service was attentive. Be forewarned that the menu items are a bit pricey, but this is downtown Pleasanton, after all!

Mangia Mi is at the other end of Main St in Pleasanton in case you never go that far. We only found it because we were participating in a wine and painting class. Candace and I arrived a bit early for the class so we decided to sit at the bar and have a cocktail. I ordered the Blood Orange Martini and Candace had a Marmalade Whiskey Sour. We both really enjoyed our choices. The martini was very tasty. We only had time to for an appetizer so we ordered the Bruschetta: Oven-Roasted Red Tomatoes, Balsamic Vinaigrette, Pecorino Romano, and Basil on Grilled Bread. O. M. G. This was amazing. The tomatoes were delicious and there was plenty of shaved cheese. I could eat this as a meal anytime. The bartender took the time to go through the menu and point out his favorites. I will definitely be returning for dinner. I want to try the Pumpkin Ravioli, Chicken Marsala, or even the Pear Gorgonzola Pizza. Yum. Can’t wait to return.
