Ordered various sushi and a udon bento lunch. Good sushi and surprised that the chicken that comes with the udon combo is actually juicy. Overall ok food, service is so, so. Not very attentive had to call them twice to refill our water and tea. Would I come back? I’m on a fence, I’d like to have good service that comes along with good food.

This is still the best sushi restaurant in the Tri Valley hand down. If you get a chance, sit at the bar, Jin the chef is a great guy. Keep up the great work Sushi Hanabi!

First time trying this place and ordered spicy garlic edamame which came out differently than what I’m used to. It was more of a barbecue taste with Tajin on it. If you like your sushi cut into small pieces this is not the place for you. other than that the sushi was good

My sister and I really enjoyed this place. The staff greeted us when we walked in, and were polite and attentive. We sat at the sushi bar and got to see how fresh and vibrant the sushi was. They rolled are rolls perfectly and were tight they didn’t fall apart. We really appreciated that. The rolls were tasty. The prices were very affordable. We had our favorite The Lion King roll and it was good. They asked us if we wanted the fish eggs and green onions on top we have never been asked that before it was great. We are sushi veterans so of course we wanted those toppings. I will be back at this place very soon with my girlfriend for a lovely sushi date. She is a fan of Sea Urchin so we will be ordering that. :-) The place was clean and also got crowed when we were almost on our way out. So we know it’s a popular favorite of those in and around P-Town.

I love this place and people. I go there at least 3 – 4 times a month and have enjoyed the sushi. I like their simple sushi rolls better than the fancier ones.

3.5 Stars Came on a friday night around 5:50(beat the rush! yesss!) We ordered the following sushi rolls: 1) Green Dragon 2) Lion King 3)Victoria’s Secret 4) Crazy Monkey My favorite roll had to be the Green Dragon roll, which contains avocado, shrimp tempura and imitation crab. It tasted very fresh and smooth. My least favorite had to be Victoria’s Secret roll, it came in a liquidy sauce. There was too much sauce, which changed the texture of the roll/ Pros: their sashimi is reasonably price, will definitely come back to try it. Cons: a bit pricey for sushi

Haven’t been back in a while but found the service and food to be excellent. Place is very clean and the owners are always smiling. They made a nice Hamachi kama with a good dipping sauce. Loved my eel donburi dish as it had lots of eel or unagi on top. Even our salads were great and I’m still trying to figure out what their delicious dressing was made with as it was light but tasty.

I used to be custom for this restaurant for many times, today, my 7 years old son need go to restroom urgently, when we step in, everybody smile and saying«welcome», but after my son said«may I use the restroom», they refused, and everybody turn into bad face. I can’t believe they are smile and so nice just 1 min ago. Everything there is fake, smile is fake, nice is fake, «yilashayimase”(welcom in Japanese) is fake, and actually, they are Korean… Luckly, I see their real face today and I live besides this restaurant, I am going to tell all my neighbors this story and I will never go there anymore !

Decently sized place, delicious food, quick and friendly service! Pretty crowded during lunch hours but for sure worth the wait. Ordered three different rolls that came in large portions and tasted great. One was supposed to be spicy but wasn’t, oh well, can’t win ‘em all. Regardless, everything from the soup to salad to rolls to drinks are awesome and sold at decent prices. Check it out!

A resounding«WOW» for this place. Loved every minute of my experience here. Sat at the sushi bar and the interaction with the server and the chef were fantastic. Many in the restaurant seemed to be regulars as they spoke to the chef and the server using their first names. I can see why they would be regulars! Nagiri prices are very reasonable, but low cost compared to the amount of fish they deliver. One one round, I ordered the mackerel, and the chef showed me the fish before cutting it, and explained that it was flown in from Japan that morning, never frozen. It was amazing. Everything was on point. We ate so much, it hurt! My only regret? Not coming here more than once during our visit to Pleasanton. When I return to town, I will be camping out here enjoying all the delicious food they make.

We went here to celebrate a friend’s birthday! There were like 20 of us. The servers arranged the tables for us to fit 20 in one long table. Good thing there weren’t a lot of people. Well maybe because it was already late and it was on a Monday. The service was good. We ordered a lot of their Special rolls and all of them are hella good. We ordered Lion King, Crazy Monkey, Hanabi and Andy’s Choice. Food are fresh. We also ordered Sake and the owner gave us two bottles for free! Love this place!

I came here for lunch recently and had an enjoyable experience. The restaurant has an intimate and friendly atmosphere that makes you feel very comfortable. The owners are really sweet and try to make your experience at their restaurant as great as possible. What really makes Sushi Hanabi stand out is not only the fresh fish, but really the variety of delicious food on the menu and the feeling of comfort you get when you sit down. Positives: + High quality of fish + Good value with lunch menu + Courteous service + Clean restaurant and bathroom area + Lots of parking available Negatives: — A bit small(may be hard to fit 10+ people at once) — Not the cheapest place for sushi Recommend: + Victoria Secret roll(that baby lobster is amazing) + BBQ Short Rib appetizer + Hanabi 4 lunch special(for value pricing) + Pan-fried edamame

After reading all the great reviews, I was disapponted. I feel like people don’t give me the best service because I look young, but I always tip 20 to 25 percent of service is good so they should think twice. Service was mediocre. I felt rushed even though the place wasn’t busy. I ordered the sashimi salad and I have never gotten even a lunch sized one with so little fish. At least the fish was pretty fresh. The salad mixture was weird tasting too with way too much Japanese mint. The gyoza though, was some of the best I’ve ever had. It was so crispy! I may give this place another chance, their lunch deals are really fairly priced.

Ambiance — Polite service(but not sure what would be an example of «excellent customer service» that some customers rave about) and cute main hall décor maintained status quo. 1 Star. Food — Improved Donkatsu(aka pork katsu), crispy soft shell roll & great cut of fish on toro sushi(at $ 15/order, it better be good, right?). That’s another star. But what the hell happened to $ 50 sashimi special? Ordinary cuts of sashimi — nothing to be visually wowed about… Same texture and taste of fish over and over again. This is so BOOOOO~ring! For the $$$ spent, today’s visit was a disappointing dining experience. Definitely NOT the fabulous experience that I had raved about before! Minus **(Two stars falling!!!) \.__./ = current Rating«Meh. I’ve experienced better.».

Small little sushi place — nice décor and ambience inside. Lots of rolls and choices on the menu. Nice little sushi bar area too. TVs are also here if you’re planning to catch a game or something here! Service is very attentive. Whenever my hot tea was running low, they came and refilled. I ordered the Bento for dinner — you get to choose your sashimi(4 pieces) and if you want chicken, beef, salmon, or short rib teriyaki. Large portion too! Definitely filled me up. My boyfriend ordered the chirashi and he said it was delicious! Fresh fish for what it’s worth and he was full from the dish too. We also ordered a roll to share — would definitely come back to try some of the other offerings!

Not Impressed… Swung by to give a local joint a shot during Monday Night Football(Saints vs Ravens). Quaint spot(well, as quaint as it can be, being next to a Subway) & relatively empty, just before 8PM… Though there were tables galore & eye contact was immediately made upon entry, there was no typical«Irasshaimase!» greeting, nor any greeting in general for that matter… I must’ve stood at the front door, watching the game for a good 10+ minutes before I was eventually approached by a server… Strike 1& already not a good sign… FINALLY…, one of the servers took the initiative to escort me to a table directly to the right of the front door, behind a partition. Were they trying to hide me? Da F*ck… Solo, cramped & now concealed from all eyes(including the servers) for at least 20 minutes until I was eventually approached to take my order… 1 Chef Choice Sashimi, 1 Teresa Roll &1 Salmon Skin Roll please…(Strike 2 btw)… First up, the Chef Choice Sashimi… Seemingly fresh, though very small, thinly sliced portions… Escolar was frayed as if it sliced with a dull knife… Side of rice was barely adequate, though sufficient considering the entrée portion size… An obvious attempt at emulating the high-end feel/smaller portions you’d expect to see at the more expensive joints, though not entirely successful. Regardless, sashimi was by far the best dish out of the bunch…(3−½ Stars)… Next up, the Salmon Skin Roll… A very tiny, sad looking roll… Maybe they should call it the«Somber Salmon?». Kinda has a catchy ring, don’t it? About 6 pieces, though mushy, w/the salmon skin lacking any type of crunch/texture. Completely disintegrated as well when picked up with the chopstick & had an undeniable«essence of fishiness» to it. Seems it’d be pretty hard to F up a salmon skin roll, though somehow they managed…(½ Star)… Last up, the Teresa Roll… I honestly don’t know how to fully describe it… Everything on it seemed out of place… For reasons unknown, the server felt compelled to suggest this roll to me, assuming I wanted something«Spicy» w/«Jalapenos» on it…(though my bad for biting)… All I know is, this was one of the most unappetizing combinations of God Knows What that I’ve EVER ingested… To describe the look/taste/texture, I’d have to say it would be similar to eating a Twinkie marinated in a sweet/spicy mayonnaise concoction, rolled in rice & topped with«juicy» fish parts, tobiko & wafer thin slices of fresh jalapeño. I typically don’t associate sushi with«juicy», but it sucked up & retained fluid like a Tres Leches cake(but was muuuuch sweeter)… It tasted JUSTASGOOD as my description btw… If your mouth is still watering(& not just from throwing up in it), then you are truly in for a treat… I on the other hand considered it an inedible abomination…(Zero Stars)… To top it all off, these(3) miniature items for a solo visit totaled $ 51. I’ve spent less at Amakara(which is far superior) & could easily feed 3 adults for that amount at Wasabi Bistro(also FAR superior). The fact that the quality of the product(rolls in particular) were below sub-par & the lack of service was probably due to the staff more than likely ASSuming I was some thug off the street didn’t make my experience anymore enjoyable either…(Forewarning for all Future potential customers btw: HIDEYOURTATTOOS& try to look«Less Ethnic», else you will be profiled/stereotyped)… STRIKE3… Obviously a minority here(Get it? MINORITY? *snicker*) with my overall experience, though it was MY negative experience nonetheless… I’d say that maybe it was partly due to me being spoiled with Wasabi Bistro, but no… Uninviting, Unappetizing & an Unjustified $$$ Price-Tag = A 3-Strike Combo off the bat… No Thank You…
