Sparx Aveda Concept Salon

Just had a wonderful experience at Sparx. Such a wonderful, friendly and cozy atmosphere. Patty really listened to me about what I wanted to do with my hair and I couldn’t be happier. It has been awhile since I felt so happy and renewed leaving a hair salon. I’m sending my boyfriend there immediately :) I’m so excited to have found Sparx as I see it being my new favorite hair place!

I booked my first appointment 4 weeks ago. I must say I had an amazing experience. The staff was very friendly and I loved the fun atmosphere. I had a hair trim and color done and I was very pleased with it. The best part of all Pat gave me a complimentary makeup, which was a nice bonus.

Great local business. Friendly family style business that is down to earth and relaxed. Patty is a peach and always aims to please. She remembers exactly how I like my hair cut and I always leave with a nice cut and a smile. Don’t sleep on this place.

I should start by saying that I am used to receiving a high level of care with my hair — it’s long and curly and can be frizzy and awful in the wrong hands. Long story short, I called Sparx in a moment of need, and Olivia literally answered my call!!!
She took me that morning, and was attentive and thoughtful; I was looking for a change, and she was as creative as I wanted to be. Gorgeous, rich color– just the right amount of red!
Did I mention she blew me out and did a little make-​up to brighten my overtired working-​mommy face?! Yes, she did that too. It was a little slice of heaven!
The vibe of the salon is eclectic and relaxed — and when I say eclectic, it’s not code for ‘weird’. It truly is a special place that makes you feel comfortable and pampered. This is completely my new place!

Had an incredible experience here this weekend and very reasonably priced. My friend and I were in from NYC for a wedding and desperately wanted our makeup done. We found sparx on Unilocal and figured we would try it out. I was so incredibly impressed with the salon and skill of their makeup artist Olivia. In my late 20’s and having weddings what seems like every weekend, I’ve gotten my makeup done more times in the last few years than I can count. Olivia did an INCREDIBLE job. I don’t remember the last time I felt this satisfied and confident with my makeup. I took her card and will most definitely be calling her again anytime I am in town and need to beautify! Thanks Olivia and sparx salon!

Sparx is a unique fun way to get your salon needs met. The make-​up done by Olivia is just fabuolus. The owner Pat is a talented hair stylist who has created a warm inviting atmosphere. She often has her mom come in to help with the phone… gotta say I love that, goes with the whole relaxed positive fun loving vibe of the salon.

It is always a pleasure to go Sparx. It has a very eclectic ambiance which I enjoy, a change from the sterile environment of most salons. It offers a very personal connection with the stylist, owner Patricia Hurst. I trust her entirely with her suggestions as to color and style. I am a regular customer of hers, and would recommend her to anyone interested in personal attention.

Pat creates a spa like a atmosphere that is warm friendly and welcoming. Wouldn’t let anyone else color my hair. She is a real artist when it comes to color and matches your hair with your complexion, hair texture and style. Pat is a great listener, but also is not afraid to give her expert advice. You never leave without a makeup touch up, a neck and/​or hand massage, and great hair.

I had a great experience the first time I went for a trim with Kathleen. The owner and staff were very friendly and I like the products.
However, the second time I went in Kathleen tried to convince me to cut my hair short and dye it darker after I told her I was trying to grow it out. She was very pushy and I finally let her take a few inches off, I went home very upset because it was not the style I wanted at all and she was very pushy.

I was changing my hair color from blond to dark reddish. Intense! I knew exactly what I wanted and they tried to talk me into something a bit different (like all salons do, lol) but they did end up listening to me.
The color turned out great!!! My only complaint was the price — $ 100.00 or so for the color, which seemed pretty normal. The trim was ridiculous though. $ 60.00 for a trim! I have long, straight hair and all she did was trim off about a quarter inch. I didn’t change up the style and she didn’t do layers or anything.
The owner was really nice though and fit me in without an appointment — I just with I had gone elsewhere for the trim…

I just went to Sparx for the first time recently and loved it. Why, you ask? Here are some bullet points. My husband makes fun of me for using them all the time but it makes reading important points much easier!
1) They’re an Aveda salon, and therefore have high quality, natural, green products that smell and feel invigorating.
2) The people and space are friendly and warm.
3) Kathleen gave me an awesome haircut that does not take any maintenance in order to look good. This was key for me as I’m super lazy with my hair and don’t do anything except wash and air dry it, but I like it to look nice! Tall order, but she delivered. You can tell she’s a perfectionist and aims to give her clients haircuts they love.
4) They gave me a head massage as I waited for a sink to become available AND a nice scalp massage as they washed and conditioned my hair. Amazing! Every salon should do this, really. It’s a simple way to help customers relax and make them feel they’re having an experience, not just a haircut.
5) They gave me tea.
6) They got me in quickly — same day. Out of consideration for them, I wouldn’t expect this of a good salon, but hey, sometimes we all have last minute needs so it was a nice bonus.
Overall, a great experience. They went above and beyond and I will certainly be going back.

First time going and was I very happy. Kathleen did wonders with my color and cut. Very friendly, homey atmosphere, not your typical salon. Going back next month.

Sparx Salon is a great place with a very friendly, fun atmosphere. Pat gave me a haircut that I am very happy with, and Kathleen did a wonderful job waxing my eyebrows. They also gave me a complimentary scalp massage and did my makeup! I will definitely be going back.
