Best fried chicken in Michigan. Try the 3-piece«Famous Recipe» with mashed potatoes and mac-and-cheese. Plus, their biscuits and honey are legit!

Did not see any difference between this and KFC. Blindfolded I could not tell… Good food but not any better. Same Chicken, Potatoes, Cole Slaw(except not fine chopped) and biscuit. Chicken was a little drier than KFC too… Nothing special. I come from fried chicken land, Not even close to real southern fried chicken.

There’s a special place in my stomach for fried chicken. Unfortunately, moving to Ann Arbor left me with a figurative hole in my stomach and nothing to really satisfy it with. On a whim, I ended up in Plymouth and walked by Lee’s on the way to a CVS to use the ATM. So, of course, I had to go inside. I had high hopes — a small place on the side of the road, no indoor seating, some picnic tables outside. Seems like my kind of place. Bottom line: OK, but disappointed. Chicken: the chicken wasn’t quite up to par. I expected a batch of freshly-fried chicken, piping hot, straight from the oil. What I got instead was reminiscent of KFC and Popeye’s, not necessarily bad, but not what I expected. Side dishes: a great redeeming factor in my visit. I got the mac and cheese, coleslaw, mashed potatoes, and a biscuit. I could eat a whole meal just from sides alone. Not the best I’ve ever had, but fantastic stuff. Price: a little much for what I paid for. I was hoping for a spot that I would intentionally go out of my way for. I ended up with a spot that I’ll stop by if I’m in the area.

Great fried chicken! I always get the extra crispy. I’ve never had a problem with my order. On Wednesdays they have specials. Carry out only. Although there is a picnic table that is used during the warmer months for those who want to enjoy their meal right away.

Better than KFC? What a high standard to meet for fried chicken. Unfortunately, Lee’s doesn’t come close to KFC. The chicken is made hours ahead of time and allowed to sit in a hot box until you arrive to take it home. Fried chicken should be made to order, even carry out. Hot and crispy on the outside, moist and delicious on the inside. We ordered a family meal with mashed potatoes and coleslaw. Dried out and tasteless. Even the kids barely ate it. We threw half of it away. And had a stomach ache the next day. What a waste of money. I don’t understand the high reviews, has nobody had good fried chicken? Is this the best there is in Plymouth? Been there. Never again.

Better than KFC, better than Chicken Shack, better than fried chicken at sit down restaurants… the best I’ve ever tasted, now that I think about it. I’ve passed this place a million times & finally stopped in last week. Since it was a place I had never been to, I took it as an excuse to «try something new»(/I wanted fried food & couldn’t bring myself to get it without a reason). I got the original 2piece meal & my boyfriend enjoyed chicken strips. The batter on mine was thin, but his was super chunky & crisp, so I think anyone would be happy, no matter your preference on that. Both were flavorful and once you dove in, the chicken meat was shredding away from itself. The(instant, I’m almost sure) mashed potatoes were similar to KFC’s, but less peppery, & the cole slaw was out of this world. Usually I like cole slaw a little bit dry or with vinegar because I’m weird about condiments. This cole slaw was soupy, but the crunchiness of the cabbage chunks made it stand out compared to other sides. This was the item I was least excited about, & it ended up being the best part of the meal. I don’t know how this place keeps up with the constant demand, but they did an awesome job managing the long line! I also liked that they have a ‘honk if you’re handicapped’ sign for curbside help, very considerate. The staff was pretty nice, too, and attentive to their customers.

What’s not to like about Fried Chicken? AMBIANCE– this place is carry out only, so don’t plan on dining in. SERVICE– service here is quick and quasi-friendly. The few times I’ve been here, they always seem to have a line(good sign right), so I understand why they don’t have time for small talk when they’re trying to clear out the line. MENU– FRIEDCHICKEN. nuff said. A number of sides as well– cole slaw, country fries, mashed potatoes, etc… They have different combos and dinners to accommodate any size party. On Wed. their 3 piece dinner is $ 1. I didn’t even realize this until ordering, but all of their combos can either be original recipe, spicy, or chicken strips. FOOD– my family split a 5 piece meal, and we had enough for a small snack the next day. The meal came with 2 sides and a biscuit. For our 2 sides we got mac n cheese which was just ok and country fries. the country fries were dipped and battered, adding an extra layer of deep fried goodness to it’s deep fried self. Those were a hit with the family for sure. OVERALL– Famous for a reason. Definitely dig this place, and will keep coming back for my fried chicken fix. CELEBRITYRATING– Colonel Sanders

Delicious! I’ve ordered take-out from here twice and the food is great! Not a very big building, so prepare for the line to be out the door on the weekends. I’ve always called ahead — not sure how long of a wait you would have you just went there to order. I’ve gotten the family feasts and always received more chicken then promised. My only complaint is the sides: I feel the portion sizes don’t match how many people they say the meal served. I’ve gotten macaroni and cheese and coleslaw and it’s only been one small tub.

I had chicken wings dinner. Coleslaw and mash potatoes were really good. But I didn’t like the wing. It was just okay. Not 5 star chicken.

I picked up a 25 piece party meal with fries, beans and slaw along with the biscuits. The chicken was horribly salty, enough so that if it wasn’t football Sunday I would of taken it back. The fries were soggy but tasted okay, the beans and slaw were very good, the biscuits were so so. Overall I’ll give it 2 stars for the prompt service, but NOWAY was this chicken anything special let alone«the best in Michigan».

I have had Lee’s twice– both times I ordered the same meal of Crispy fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and mac and cheese. I enjoyed ALL of the food very much both times! However, it IS fried food. Once the enjoyment of the taste is over, the crummy feeling one experiences after indulging in fried goodness sets in. It is very small inside; The only option is carry-out and there are no seats inside to sit on if waiting for food. But the employees are very efficient with order-takin and making, and so the line moves quickly. It gets very busy on Wednesdays during dinner time, as they have a $ 1 off special. I like that the business has curb-side service for those who are handicapped.

My favorite place for chicken and chicken liver!!! Both are delicious. We also love the country fries. We live 21 miles away(checked it on mapquest) but it’s always worth the drive.

Best frickin chicken in the state! It is a little shack no bigger than an average living room, but the flavor is huge. The batter is perfect and crispy. The chicken always juicy and flavorful. The sides fresh made in house and it shows! Top recommendations are the slaw, mashers, and 3 bean salad. If you come on Wednesday there are specials. Do your taste buds a favor and be sure to get BBQ sauce, it is delicious. Service is great, fast, and food is always fresh.

Ok, let’s talk chicken, like fried chicken. Cause everybody has their own little favorite chicken spots. Downriver has the best Chicken Shack in all of michigan, Southwest Detroit has Pollo Chapin flexing it’s muscles, Clawson area has big and bad Faym-us chicken, then there’s this guy, Lee’s Famous Recipe in Plymouth. This spot is a true power house juggernaut in its chicken sales. They literally have the chicken flying off their shelves and they couldn’t dispense it fast enough either. Lines would form all the way from outside the restaurant just to get a turn to order between the two cashiers. It’s a strictly business joint, literally a hole in the wall, you order, your food comes out and you take it home then proceed to devour. There are two picnic tables right outside of the restaurant if you choose to want to eat it around the premises. The chicken here is phenomenally good. Even the white meat chicken is moist, crunchy and flavorful all at the same time. I don’t usually order white meat because chicken breast usually ends up on the dryer side of the chicken meat spectrum, but they seem to have it all figured out. Their side dishes are yummy as well. Their mashed potatoes is good and buttery, also their Cole slaw is very exquisite. The service is hella prompt. It’s a hole in the wall type, so there isn’t really anything to say except for their courteousness and welcoming demeanor. You pay, you pick up your food and you eat. It’s as simple as boiling a pot of water. These are the simple things in life that we should never take for granted. Good chicken, family and life, it doesn’t get any better than that. Weeeeeeeeeee

THE best fried chicken joint in southeast michigan. The thin and zesty batter is fried to a crunchy perfection. I always order dark meat though. The chicken breast is too dry for my taste! Our family gets one of the bucket combinations to go and order the sides of mash potatoes, gravy and cole slaw. We make a pot of rice at home and eat everything up! KFC got NOTHING on Lee’s! This is the place to go if you are craving fried chicken. :)

The chicken here is outstanding. I’ve had their food a couple times and never been disappointed. The original recipe spice chicken has a lot of flavor. I’m a big fan of the country potatoes. These are wedge fries and even they have a delicious flavor. Cole slaw is great too. It’s creamy but packed with flavor. I think their pricing for a group is also fair — $ 31 for 15 pieces of chicken and 3 sides. Not a bad price. Wish there were more of these up here in Michigan.

This is the best fried chicken! We make the drive every so often just to indulge! I usually get a mix of original and crispy because they are both so good! The slaw is good, and so are the wedges, not a fan of the Mac and cheese, too bland.

Best chicken strips ever. Great breading and good thick pieces. The chicken soup is the best I’ve had. People say the mac and cheese its great. And coleslaw is the best I’ve had from any chicken establishment. Would recommend it in a heartbeat.

The food is quite excellent but in the past 3 orders they’ve made mistakes. Wrong items included or omitted. I live a few miles away so going right back isnt an option. Spoke to Brian– manager. I ask that they double check orders for accuracy and if they won’t from this point I won’t leave til I’ve checked. Also don’t try to smash everything into a too small box. Our biscuits were crumbled balls of bread.
