This spot really didn’t impress me as much as I expected from reviews. First off the bar had no drink specials. I mean why not have a signature cocktail or something creative? Not to mention the bar staff wasn’t very outgoing. Smiling is free and actually makes your guests enjoy their experience. No luck in that department. Moving on to dinner: I had some grilled fish. Really cannot remember what kind because it didn’t stick out in my head. Very bland tasting. Chowder soup was pretty good. Salad tasted like it was sitting in a cooler too long pre made. The service was ok. Older lady named Eleanor was spot on and very friendly. Our waitress wasn’t very attentive. When you take a plate from someone usually you ask how the food was. I’m not usually as picky, but this place has great potential and I want them to be successful.

Exceptional food! If you want a taste of Wisconsin this is the place to be! Over the top tender Sauerbraten! Red cabbage smooth, potato dumplings, great salad, warm bread. Fall off the bone ribs. Best was the Apple strudel a’la mode! Warm, explosive, savory perfect. Best that I have had! The German food was cooked with heart and soul of a German. Our waitress Katherine was attentive, kind and welcoming. A must if you are in Plymouth, WI.

The food was very good. The service was pretty slow and my waitress wasn’t very helpful. Had to go to the bar to request my bill since I was waiting so long. I would give it another chance because I was very satisfied with my meal, and hope I get better service.

Our go-to for casual dinner and German food. We meet friends and have a great meal and a great time! Never been disappointed!

Very good service. Great food. I would probably go there just for the soft pretzel and the apple dessert. Nice and casual relaxing atmosphere. I recommend it to anyone looking for a nice kid friendly place to eat with decent prices.

Great food. I had a combo plate and my husband had the weiner scnitzel. It was so good. I never before had such tender meat. It was all served on glass plates with glass glasses. The waiter was very prompt and personable. We enjoyed having him as our waiter. We also got a complimentary desert for our 43rd anniversary that was to die for. Prices are high. Someplace you go for a special occasion.

The food is bland, uninventive, and overpriced. I found a pubic-esque hair in my soup. After about 3 years one would think management would have the kinks worked out for front of house processes, but that’s hardly the case. Bartenders aren’t allowed to take food orders, even if it is only togo. They have to tell one of the two hostesses to call over a waiter, and that can take half an hour considering the hostesses don’t have a clue what they are doing. I’ve heard that their Friday fish specials are often reused the following night and the following Friday because they don’t sell. The final straw for me was when I witnessed the owner/head ‘chef’ down 3 Soco old fashions at the bar while gossiping with other staff who had finished their shift. Even though my group was the last to leave, I found it highly inappropriate behavior while customers were present. Also, he didn’t notice me come back in for my coat, but I witnessed him drunkenly confront the bartender(who was an excellent server in my opinion) about what appeared to be a trivial issue. His intoxication was blatantly evident considering he was belligerently yelling at the poor girl without giving her a chance to explain her rationale. Unhealthy crap food aside, I don’t support unprofessional buffoons.

Went out for a casual dinner with friends on Friday evening. The Depot is located in a refurbished train depot, and they did a great job with our evening.. We started with a drink in the bar, then had the option of eating at tables in the bar room or in the dining room. We chose the bar room; same menu for both rooms. Contrary to the review below, the meals and drinks were served on nice plates with silverware. Beer and cocktails were served in glassware. Menu items had a German flair but plenty of American options. We all opened with a seafood chowder which was tasty. The ladies had lake perch with potato pancake and my buddy had a steak sandwich, which was huge served open face. I had the CJ Schnitzel sandwich with the potato pancake as a side. My sandwich was delicious, with a great pork cutlet covered with a perfect garnish of sweet sauteed onions, and the bakery was also fresh and top notch. We passed on desert as our event for the evening was starting shortly, but the options I saw at the next table looked spectacular. Portion sizes were plentiful. Casual but warm, I loved this place. We will be back. The owner stopped by and visited and he was friendly and funny. He had a good rapport with the locals there, and the combo of great food and atmosphere made this a must return. If deserts were as good as they looked, this is a 5 above.

For some reason, I had it in my mind that this place would be a bit upscale, but it’s not. It’s more or less a paper and plastic place. Paper napkins and placemats, plastic table cloths and medicine cups for salad dressing. The dinner rolls looked like they came out of a mass-produced package. We split the rueben rolls appetizer, which was tasty. Basically it’s rueben ingredients rolled up and fried like an egg roll. The entrees we ordered were German standards: rouladen(thin beef rolled around whole carrots and wrapped in bacon) and wiener schnitzel(breaded veal). Again, they were good, but not extraordinary. My side of spaetzle(German gnocchi) was bland, but came to life with salt and pepper. All in all, we thought the place was OK, but probably won’t return. The bill, with tip, came to $ 47 for two of us.

I have been to PJ Campbell’s at the Deport(aka The Depot) several times and have always had wonderful service from bar and dining room. The food and service has only gotten better as they have worked out the kinks and found their groove. I have visited the Deport as part of a large group for a family dinner and girls night out for apps and drinks in the bar. A few things to rave about… fried shrimp, weiner schnitzel, prime rib, bbq ribs, pork chops. The rueben rolls, baked french onion soup and potatoe pancakes weren’t bad, but I have had better in Sheboygan county. If doing apps, be sure to try the pretzel(HUUGGEE and very light) and the portabella mushrooms strips. Overall The Depot is a great addition to Sheboygan County and Plymouth in particular. A place which serves dinners and sandwiches but is not a bar or pizza.
