Craving for a burrito and this was the only joint I saw that sold it. So I ordered the veggie burrito and chips with salsa. Their«salsa» was just diced tomatoes and the chips were crushed and very oily. The burrito was not good at all, worse burrito ever. They shouldn’t even call this a burrito!

So we almost just went into surf taco which is only a few doors down… we went in and looked at the menu and heard a few ppl walking in say«this is the best place ever» but still we left surf taco…(thou we did have it the very next day) and went to taco express. Authentic Mexican and cheap. It was good and spicy. You can’t compare surf taco to this place. Because they Don offer the same type of foods. So ur very best bet is to have both. :-)

I ignored Baja at first because I thought it was a chain. So we headed to . But when I looked at what Bubbakoos was serving,(we stopped in and looked at what they had) it was a bunch of Jersey shore kids really wholesome and polite but not Mexican. Their food looked like typical American salad bar food. It looks to me like Bubbakoos is trying to imitate Surf Taco. Surf Taco was started by real surfers. www.surftaco.com/people/gallery/ Surf Taco is not really Mexican just healthy, inexpensive, beachy kind of food. They don’t pretend to be Mexican they have wraps and salads and attract a mostly student and surfer crowd. They are not in competition with each other as suggested in another review. But Baja is in competition with other Jersey shore Mexican restaurants. Baja gets 2 stars just for the fact that it is authentic. One of the specials was tongue tacos, they had Cactus on the menu and other Mexican foods that would never be at Surf Taco. I had a fiesta salad which consisted of a corn salsa and my husband had Al Pastor and Pollo tacos. The meat inside the tacos was juicy and it was all okay. But authentic does not always mean good. If it was in NYC I would give it 4 stars since most of the Mexican food here tastes like dog food in comparison to Jersey Mexican. And yes I’ve tasted dog food someone pulled a trick on me as a kid but that’s another story. Baja needs to step it up a notch to compete with other Jersey shore Mexican. It was not bad. But since there are so many Mexican restaurants in the area unless they improve the quality, I can’t see them staying in business. If they were in Sunset Park Brooklyn they would thrive but not here, diners demand better!

My husband & I totally love this place! The best local Mecican food… Portions are incredible. Steak burrito sooo good! Pricing is very reasonable. No free refills on drinks or chips.
