I get the opportunity to house sit in Poipu every year so I try a lot of restaurants. Not a whole lot to choose from in the breakfast category but seriously KJoes was the best I’ve had. Super chill atmosphere, great wait staff, Ono food! Had the Kauai Scramble and it was fabulous! It’s a scramble with Kailua pork and feta. Add the avocado! I would definitely pass on the coffee-4 bucks and only those flavored creamers, eh. Everything else was great! Go!

Sad to say they’ve gone downhill big time in just 2 and ½ months since we’ve been there. Called them a day before and said we had a party of 7 and wanted to make reservations. They said they only take for 8 or more and not to worry, they are not busy. Got there the next night(Saturday) at 7 and were informed that it was a ½ hour seating wait and a 1 – 2 hour wait for food! People were walking out swearing, and there were still open seats but they did not have enough workers! The workers wouldn’t even look at us or apologize, one just kept folding napkins and looking down. It’s too bad because the past couple of times I’ve been there has been great food and service. It was also my dad’s birthday and my brother and sister in-law had driven 45 minutes to join us. Luckily we were able to quickly get in at Garden Island Grille and had a fantastic experience there!

Big Food, Big Drinks! Definitely the place to go «for the Big Game»! Drinks are oversized as are the entrees but they are likely to be thrown at you rather than served to You! Two dozen beers on tap, many of them local selections! Temperatures of the beers vary wildly depending on the size of the glassware… Wine list is very pedestrian for Poipu Beach. Salmon Creek dominates, innocuous at $ 7.00/glass for a wine that retails for $ 2.99 per bottle most places. Going to try them for their famous breakfast but more than a little apprehensive!

We came here by accident. I knew the place I wanted to go was Kalapaki’s something or other… this wasn’t it. We’re not bar people at any time much less 8am or whenever we got there. We could’ve sat on the patio but I wasn’t in the mood to fry just yet so we hopped up on the high bar seats and looked at the menu. The hubby got the bananas foster pancakes and I got the French toast with a side of bacon. I almost got what he got but man am I glad I didn’t. It’s not that they weren’t good but oh my Lord, they came in a skillet FLOATING in I guess butter and brown sugar. Halfway through, he stopped, looked at me said and«I never knew I’d be able to pinpoint the moment I’d get diabetes… this is it.» It was a bit much and this is coming from a sugar lover. The french toast was decent but the bacon was disintegration upon biting. Given the price I paid for it, I should’ve sent it back but it took too long to get in the first place so I crushed it and put in on the French toast for crunch. The server was quite ‘eclectic’ but very nice.

If I could give a zero I would. This place sucks soo much. Food is not fresh nor good. Everyone that works there is sooooo rude. Food items aren’t available all day only certain times. No customer service at all what’s so ever. I would not recommend this sports bar at all. So much better spots. NOHOTBABES either. Super wack this bar. Take your money somewhere else, where they treat you good and have better quality in food and drinks. All these other«good» reviews must be there friends of the sucky workers there.

Great vibe, good food. I don’t know whether it was that we were stuck behind a party of 8 but it took about 30 – 40 minutes to get our food for breakfast. It was good food for the price. But be cautioned on the pace of service. Maybe we just came on an off day. Until next time…

This might have been our favorite hangout on Kauai. Went here for happy hour and the bad was awesome so we stayed for dinner. The food was pretty good, I had the Mahi fish sandwich and he did the ahi tacos. Pretty good. Ended up going here again after dinner and was a pretty fun crowd. If you are a local or a tourist this is a good spot. If you are looking for a fun time, good music and decent food, go here!

The ahi fish tacos were good as was the sports bar ambiance, but that’s all the good I can say. My cousin ordered fish and chips thinking who could mess up fish and chips in KAUAI!!! This place can. Swanson’s fish would be better than this. All you tasted was this flavorless hard coating… I don’t even know if there was fish in there(my cousin asked me to try it.) The drinks were bizarre and not any good. A ling ling margarita? It had some type of powder in it and you could see the residue at the bottom. Yuck. The raspberry mojito left a lot to be desired as well. I’d say if you’re going to watch the game and drink beer, then go for it.

Don’t let the divey sports bar interior fool you: this place has some GOOD food! We walked in for breakfast during our stay in Poipu and had pretty low expectations, but ended up being blown away by our meal. I had the florentine-ish scramble with avocado instead of meat, and the hubs had the fresh fish and eggs(that day was swordfish). We decided to come back two days later after hearing they had a great happy hour. We took advantage of their $ 3 fish tacos which were some of the best fish tacos I’ve ever had! All apps are $ 2 off during happy hour so we also got the poke nachos. Draft beers are also $ 2 off and they have a pretty huge selection of local beers mixed with some typical domestic beers. Fat tire Amber has become my best friend here, so I enjoyed a couple of those. They claim to have the coldest draft beer on the island; you be the judge. We ended up coming back a third time for a late night dinner since everywhere else on the south shore closes by 8 or 9. Again, we weren’t disappointed. We started with the grilled artichoke and we both ordered the Nobu Poke bowl as our meal. The bowls were humongous! Like the kind of serving bowl size you use on Thanksgiving when you’re putting out mashed potatoes meant for 15 people. I couldn’t eat more than half, and felt bad about all that wasted poke, but it was massive. Both the artichoke and the bowls were awesome. The place falls a little short in service. The employees are all nice, but the service is very slow. They seem to be understaffed as far as servers go. The first time we went, it was one kid working the entire floor, hosting, serving, and bartending. The rest of the nights, the staff was just slow. I’d definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for a cold beer and some good grub, as long as you’re not in a rush(you’re in Hawaii, so you’re probably not).

Came for breakfast and everything we ordered was enjoyable. The banana pancakes were the best thing ordered. The syrup is Carmelized on top with delicious banana slices. I ordered the moco loco which was good very large portions for the meal and the drink cups were big. Overall breakfast was a good experience with a decent view and big tv’s. I give it a 5 star for their breakfast selection I do not know how good their lunch and dinner selection is.

Wow what happen Food sucks now only good food your selling is happy hour food and beer . I like the bigger bar that is cool but beer kegs hanging from ceiling really looks cheap like a collage dorm room. some one need to get back on track.

Happy hour is the best time to go from 3pm-6pm daily excluding days when there’s a big sporting event on TV. $ 2.00 off draft beer and any appetizer on the menu, $ 5.00 tropical drinks, $ 3.00 fish tacos, $ 1.00 shrimp tempura(5 minimum), $ 0.25 chicken wings(10 minimum). I like coming to this KJ’s in Poipu because they cater to both Locals and tourists. Their food is much tastier than the one in Lihue. Why? I don’t know why, But it’s good! I personally love their spinach dip with garlic bread and a 22oz of cold beer. Honestly you can’t go wrong going here during happy hour. It would be the cheapest early bird dinner you’d spend in south shore.

Kalapaki Joes has a STRICT schedule as to which items are available and when. Their breakfast is served until 11:00am. We arrived at 11:20 and were told that the breakfast menu is unavailable. One of the items on the breakfast menu was sliced fruit which is unavailable after 11:00am. Our waitress told us the cash register will not allow breakfast items after 11:00 am Next time go to Brennecke’s Beach Broiler

Saw this place on Unilocal, never been one to run into a hotel area to eat but I was starving. WOW. Heard someone else refer to this as a «typical stateside sports bar and grill». I wouldn’t say typical. Huge bar, very nice décor, and WOW the food. I cannot say enough. Zero grease taste, HUGE portions, and wow, it was absolutely delicious. I ordered the fish and chips appetizer. Ooops, you guys need to rename that because it fed two people and was AWESOME. Perfect baked fries with perfectly spaced seasoning. Delicious tri-color slaw, and the fish, PERFECT. My wife had the poke salad – WOW. Hugeeeeee portion. My son went for the deluxe loco moco – yea fed all three of us. Love this place, will be back!

Ordinary place, but perfectly located if you are staying in Poipu. The fish and chips were great. They have 24 on-tap beers. Nothing exotic, just straightforward food and service.

During our stay in Poipu, this as one of the first places we explored on the island after the long flight and getting our bearings. We caught the happy hour which was fantastic; $ 2 fried shrimp, tacos, guac and all the usual snackalicious fare. The drinks were enormous and strong, so we had a terrific time before we left for the next adventure… Mahala KJ!

Great sports tv and cold beer. Waited at least a half hour for lox and bagel this am. Granted there was a crowd for the Seahawks game but… Service slow, not enough staff considering the day before they told my partner that they would be slammed. Slammed would not be a word I would describe the crowd there today. Come to Joe’s for drinks and the game. The food is mediocre. The lox arrived without capers or cream cheese. I had to ask. The couple next me ordered chips and dip. The chips were stale. He did ask for a new batch which did arrive toasted and crisp. Save your appetite for another place and just enjoy the game.

Great spot for happy hour and to watch a game. Came here while on vacation to watch a USC game. We had a great time(except for the fact that SC lost). Our server was super friendly and helped us get the game on the TV in front of our table. The happy hour mai tai was HUGE and delicious. And you can’t go wrong with the 25 cent wings. It was pretty empty when we got there but started to fill up toward dinner time. Tip: get there before whatever game you want to watch to try and reserve the couch area in the back.
