This is a good choice if you’re in the area. We were staying at the Inn at Woodstock Hill while attending Brimfield flea market. We were looking for a close spot for dinner and found Grill37. It was a Thursday and was semi crowded when we arrived, but filled up as the evening progressed. We sat at the bar(which we often do for a more casual/fun experience) and the bartender was great. She was a hustler as she was servicing a full bar, full bar seating and all the servers drinks. She never appeared frazzled or rushed a decision though! I ordered the Kay’s Herbal Sunshine Martini and it was refreshing and delicious! I later ordered a hot and dirty martini and though she had never made one she was willing to ask the ingredients and probably made the best one I’ve ever had! We ordered oysters and edamame to start. The oysters were pretty good. The edamame kind of tasted like it came from a freezer bag but not terrible. For our meal, we both ordered steaks(black and blue & the baseball). Both steaks came out cooked properly but were very chewy. I don’t know if they had a bad delivery or if this is commonplace, but I’d avoid the steak. Unfortunately, they were out of pods to make espresso and cappuccino(which was probably a blessing since it came from a pod), so we skipped dessert. I give the 4 star rating based on the great service and the hope that it was an off night for steaks.

Just went for the first time heard good things about Grill37. I have never had such a terrible meal. There were 8 in our party and it was clear that the Waitress had no clue on what service is. Started with the water(no ice) 2 of us ordered seltzer it was flat and when told it was flat waitress did nothing finally had to get up and go to bar for a replacement. Next came the so called bread basket 7 pieces of bread for a table of 8 … We all ordered a variety of meals my order was simple I ordered a house salad with oil and vinegar a 8 ounce Fillet med rare instead of potatoes and veggies I asked for just a sliced up tomato. My sister asked for the two veggie choices instead of the potato option. When the food came my Fillet came it was well done. My sister only got one veggie. And my niece that ordered jut a seared tuna salad was the last one to get her meal. I have never done this before but when you pay $ 29.00 for a piece of fillet it needs to be cooked the way you want it so I sent it back. By this time the manager comes over and apologized and told me they are cooking me a new Steak. Well they did finally bring me a new steak and this time it was cooked right. All of a sudden our waitress was changed in the middle of our meal(once again a first). Never saw the manager again. Nothing was offered to be taken off the bill for our obvious terrible service . There were 8 of us in this party and I don’t think any of us will ever say anything good about this place. And we will never go back. There is no excuse for poor service and if you want to succeed in business you need to make sure your customers experience is good…

my gent and i had dinner here last night, and had a great experience. i had made a reservation for a table, but when we arrived around 6:30, there were two open spots at the bar, so we actually opted to sit there. i’m so glad we did because our bartender was wonderfully attentive and polite. he provided one of our best bar dining experiences we’ve ever had, actually. for food, we got the scallops with peaches appetizer from the regular menu(there was also a different scallop app on the specials menu). while there were some great flavors to this dish, i feel like the execution was a little clunky. the scallops were only seared on one side, and the amount of peach sauce was a little excessive. the mixed greens on the bottom were kind of drowned, and the peach flavor overwhelmed the bacon and the scallops. (additionally– a diner next to us ordered the same appetizer and received an entirely different plate. there were peaches, but there was hardly any sauce. we were right next to him, and he did not order it modified, so i’m unsure how consistently the dishes are prepared overall…) my gent got a special, the chicken parmesan. it was a hearty portion, and he was very pleased with the flavor, but the angel hair pasta it was supposed to be served with(which is his preference for pasta shape) was decidedly spaghetti. not a big deal, but i think he would have rather been given a heads up that they were out of cappellini, instead of the appearance of spaghetti without an explanation. i got a cup of one of their daily soups, a beer cheese soup. it was absolutely heavenly. the texture was thick and rich, and the heavy addition of chopped onions lent a welcome flavor. i also got the au poivre burger and requested it to be cooked as rare as possible. it was. i was a VERY happy lady. i could have used more of the au poivre sauce itself, as well as more of the pepper & cognac flavors, but it was still pretty tasty. i substituted cole slaw for the french fries; it had great crunch and texture, but it needed a little help in the flavor department. there was too much dressing, and it lacked acidity and bite to help balance the richness and sweetness. we did not get dessert, though i overheard that they have an in-house pastry chef, and the dessert case did look appealing. we’re moving out of state in literally a week, so we will not likely be back, but if you are in the area, i do think this is a spot you should visit. the ambience is great, and the live music was a perfect addition to the atmosphere. service(not just ours) appears to be attentive, and the food really was largely good.

Agree with Mary Ellen H. who wrote about their experience for the Easter Buffet. My husband and I had a very similar experience when we went to the 2015 Thanksgiving Buffet. No complaints about where we were seated, but other than that couldn’t agree more with Mary Ellen. I don’t know her, because if I did I doubt she would have went there. Same thing, no rolls and only one side of the buffet open. My husband and I have been to many buffets. You always get to serve yourself. The only person serving is at the carving station. We thought it was odd that we were served rationed doled out portions. I don’t eat that much. Any buffet is going to make money off of me. However, had to return four times to get my skimpy portions of the stuffing that was delicious. They didn’t say this, but it felt like, Oh, no no you just can’t take what you want, we will decide that for you. Felt like a little kid being told what to do. As we ate our meal, that was good, my husband and I discussed how weird this was — to be served at a buffet. We wondered if the five people serving weren’t being paid to work on a holiday, perhaps the portions wouldn’t be so stingy? It’s not like we didn’t pay the asking price. Our bill was $ 142.31 this was for me and my husband, cocktails, tax and tip. The real shocker on the bill was $ 4.00 for a teeny tiny(about 3 ounces) «cup» of coffee. They didn’t say coffee was included(although it usually is in a buffet) but they sure didn’t say it was going to cost $ 4.00 for 3 sips either! We have spent more than $ 140 before for a meal, but we have never felt so ripped off. This was our first and last visit to Grill 37.

My husband and I went to Grill 37 for Easter brunch. We arrived at 11:30, the time of our reservation, and were promptly seated at a table for two. My husband asked to be seated at another table, because we would have been sitting in the pathway of people going to and from the buffet. We were told that was not possible because the«tables were all orchestrated.» He pointed to a nearby table for two and asked to be seated there. Again, he was told no, because that table was reserved for people who would be arriving at 1:00. We assured the hostess that we would be finished by then. She reluctantly seated us at the other table.(In the meantime, there were many empty tables throughout the restaurant.) We were handed what was supposed to be the drink menu, and when I opened it I discovered it was a dessert menu — a menu that was not even being used for this brunch event. Our server told us that we could go up to the buffet at any time, and that we could go to either side, because they were both the same. When we got to the buffet, only one side was open. There were no rolls. A buffet server nearby told us they were«coming out soon.» We proceeded through the buffet, which was not very extensive. We were not allowed to dish out our own food. Instead, there were servers who rationed the food out. One of the dishes was vegetable lasagna. A «serving» was a one-inch by two-inch slice. There were still no rolls out when we got to the end of the line. My husband and I stood there waiting for the rolls, since we had been told they were«coming out soon.» Two or three minutes later, the roast beef carver asked us whether we were waiting for others in our party. I told him we were waiting for rolls. Another two or three minutes passed. My husband finally asked the roast beef carver how much longer the rolls would take. The carver asked another buffet server to look into the rolls, and she went in pursuit of them. He told us that they would bring them to us when they were ready, which they did. For dessert, there were only three offerings: chocolate cake, lemon cake, and carrot cake. Since I am allergic to tree nuts and chocolate, my only option was lemon cake. All in all, we left feeling unwelcome and as though the owners are trying to skrimp on the food. For a buffet that cost us over $ 100 for two people(including one drink each, tax and tip), we do not believe we were treated accordingly. We will not return.

I don’t often give a 1 star for a review, however, our experience was not as expected. We were excited to dine at grill 37 with some great friends. We arrived, the hostess was sweet and very pleasant, we were seated at our table and our waitress came to our table. From the time she arrived, all went down hill from there. The apps came and when we questioned about an ingredient in the beet goat cheese salad, she was defensive. The guys ordered drinks, took forever to get them, and the amenities we kept asking for such as ice were forever to arrive. Our meals came and they were all very bland. The waitress took awhile to come check on us. One person in our party sent hers back. All in all, the waitress needs more experience on hospitality especially when a guest questions about a meal. There are 2 rules in customer service: 1. The customer is always right. 2. Refer to rule #1. Deeply dissatisfied. Service was very dysfunctional. Waitress was not engaging at all! Sorry to have to write this!

I have had two private functions at Grill 37. The first was a surprise birthday party and the second a luncheon following my mother’s funeral. In both instances Debra was outstanding, adapting easily to my requests. The food was outstanding. I had requested specific ethnic food(French-Canadian) snd the chefs researched recipes and made perfect dishes. The large room is beautiful with lots of Windows and natural light, a beautiful fireplace and appointments. For two very different events, Debra and her team were beautifully appropriate. I cannot say enough great things about Debra, the chefs and staff of Grill 37.

We called and made reservations and were seated almost immediately. The service was very professional and friendly. We started with lobster rangoons and bruschetta. Both were great. The spinach and goat cheese gnocchi were very light and delicious. Mrs. G raved about the chicken marsala and refused to share. Sadly, the scallops were sold out. Our waitress Ashley, was great and very pleasant.

Great Sunday brunch at Grill37 today for Valentines Day. It’s a limited menu for the brunch but we were pleased with the selections. We both selected omelettes and were happy although both omelettes were a little over cooked. Mine was really good because it had the extra cheese I requested. The home fries were delicious. If you want toast it’s an extra charge as a side order. I did order a side of bacon which was very tasty. We had a nice little table in the fireplace room but we were enjoying ourselves so much we decided to sit at the bar for a drink and a dessert. The bartender who was also covering the fireplace room as our waitress was very pleasant. We tried the Apple Crisp with ice cream which was good… Not great. We are definitely coming back to try dinner. Probably Friday night for their Prime Rib. Overall a awesome time. Nice to have another option close by WoodstockCt other than the restaurants in Putnam.

Our family went for Thanksgiving Dinner… A FIRST for us! Always home cooked meals. I was a little weary and headed in with skepticism. We were BLOWN away! Excellent service, excellent food! Was a bit pricey, but that was expected! These people are here cooking for you when they should be home with their families. Will go again!

Went last night for dinner with 4 other people. I ordered the fish n chips but substituted the chips for a side salad with homemade bacon Apple vinaigrette. All was delish & fresh! My boyfriend got the tips Montréal and he said it was some of the best steak tips he’s had. Sister got the scallop & cod dish… she loved it. 2 other friends got the prime rib dinner & both were very pleased. Cooked perfectly. Service was kind of slow but it was busy & our waitress was awesome! We will be going back.

First time back since The Harvest reopened as Grill 37. Disappointed. Drinks are overpriced as well as the meal. I ordered the baked cod with scallops and shrimp. The cod which came with two scallops and two shrimp was under cooked. Also came with a small serving of rice pilaf and the veggie was a small serving of steamed kale. $ 25 Glass of wine $ 11. Gave it a try, won’t be back.

My husband and I dined here tonight. It was excellent. We made reservations for a 5 o’clock seating on a Saturday night. We were shown to our table by a friendly hostess and introduced to our wait staff, Danny. We ordered beer(2) for my husband and seltzer for myself. Danny brought our drinks and four pieces of delicious focaccia bread and tasty herbed olive oil. We ordered a tossed salad with a golden balsamic dressing. The salads were large, fresh and included tiny pear shaped yellow tomatoes. Delightful with the dressing. We ordered the sirloin and rib eye steaks with roasted potatoes and sautéed kale. Both steaks were prepared well and vegetables were great accompaniments. Our bill was @$ 74 plus a 20% tip. We will definitely go back again. Great food, friendly efficient staff.

My man and I finally were able to try this place out since we moved into the area. We went at 8pm on Friday night and we were sat right away in a side small room in front of the lovely fireplace. I read the other reviews that the food was good but not the service. I beg to different. They were both good! We started with 3 appetizers. The fig and procuttio flatbread, Danish onion soup and the lobster rangoon. He absolutely love the lobster rangoon and I loved the flatbread. The Danish onion soup we never had before and it was delicious! For my main course I had the zucchini spaghetti. I am by no means a vegetarian, but this was so yummy! He had the chicken saltenboca which was good but it wasn’t his favorite because it had a ton of sage on it. All in all reasonably price and the food/service was great! Cannot wait to go back!

My wife and I stumbled upon this place. WOW, were we happy. We sat at the bar and were able to watch the Kentucky Derby. Both of our dinners were very good. I got the Lamb and my wife got the Beef special. This place has a romantic, out of the way, in the country feel when you are here. It’s almost like a mini vacation while you are here. Enjoy!

The inside of the restaurant is full of dark wood and dim light. There’s a bar that wraps the length of the main dining area. They have a few beers on tap, black hog for example. I had white wine. My friend had a glass of sangria. She also ordered lobster rangoon appetizer as her meal. The hostess was kind enough to let me charge my phone from a plug on the side of the bar. The bartender was responsible to tables on the floor as well as us at the bar. She didn’t come by too much but she was nice enough. I recommend the pulled pork sandwich. It had coleslaw on top which was a good dash of sweetness and crunch. They have a raw bar but I didn’t try anything from it. The Unilocal entry says 3 dollar signs but we didn’t pay more than $ 25 each. On another note, there’s a large banquet room towards the back of the building but I was put off by how thematically different that room is. It’s bright and white with large windows. I think I also caught hints of pastels in the furnishings.

I received a gift card to Grill 37 for my birthday, it’s an hour drive, and it was totally worth it. It was early on a Wednesday evening so we basically had the whole place to ourselves. We were sat in a room next to the bar there were a couple people enjoying some libations and a family came in after us, a couple was leaving just as we were seated. The interior was elegantly rustic. Our server was bubbly and enthusiastic and her timing was right on point. We ordered the bacon wrapped figs, which personally I feel are better then a box of chocolates, and Danish onion soup to start. The soup has so much depth of flavor from the broth to the cheese it all blends perfectly. For our entrees we chose the herb crusted salmon and sirloin steak. Both good choices, no complaints. It was so good we actually got dessert, an option we usually pass up. White chocolate raspberry crème brûlée. The caramelized sugar on top was thin and crispy and the custard itself smooth as silk. Bottom line we would go back, even if it’s just for the Danish onion soup and a glass of wine.

This is our favorite restaurant in the area. Great food at a decent price. Nice menus for holidays, and great specials daily. We had our wedding reception here and the staff was very accommodating. I look forward to dinner here whenever we go. Get the cheesecake with caramel sauce for dessert!
