This is our go-to spot in Putnam for a reliable, good meal at a fair price. The food is consistently good, though not anything innovative or fancy. It’s your standard American fare but that’s actually what we love about it. Been enjoying their honey mustard chicken wrap, potato skins, and hung jury app for 15+ years now. Tastes like home

Reallly good chicken wings(bone-in)! Havent tried the really hot hot saucr yet, but the medium one is good. Ive had a few of the pastas, they all have been great! My favorite so far is the Seafood Alfedo! The ribeye steak is great also!

Came for lunch. The pepper ranch burger was excellent and cooked perfectly. Steak salad was also fantastic! Waitress was friendly, attentive and fast. Highly recommend!

I’ve been here hundreds of times and I can honestly say that I have never had a below par meal. The French onion soup is fabulous and the best I’ve ever had, the wraps are also excellent! The only complaint I have is that there is not enough seating when your waiting for a table which does happen on the busy nights.

I have been here 3 times, and since I’m a very picky eater I have just been getting fettuccini alfredo with broccoli. The first time I had it, I loved it everything looked and tasted great. The second time I had it I noticed that the Alfredo sauce had been cooked a bit longer than it should have, since there was some curdling I noticed on the spoon. I had just gone there recently again and got the same food again I noticed it had a smell, a stronger smell than its had or it should have, the sauce was a bit off colored, and the sauce was definitely over cooked again there was more curdling. But I was too hungry to make a fuss over it, I didn’t eat much at all and the second I left the restaurant I got sick. I was told I had food poisoning, I never thought I could get food poisoning from fettuccini with Alfredo sauce. I’m just glad I didn’t get chicken with it. Other than that, the staff there is great! But I don’t think I’ll be eating there again.

We have been coming here periodically for the last two years. Used to be a gem. Today we were led into the back room which was absolutely filthy. I had to ask a passerby if we had a waitress as were were never greeted. Someone took our order. Another delivered and the waitress for this room is no where to be found. Food is still not out after 30 minutes. Very disappointed. Not sure if we will be coming back here any time soon. Update: Food was OK. Burger overcooked fries incredibly greasy. The«waitress» seem annoyed that she had to even deal with us. Well, if she had even acknowledged our presence others would not have had to do her job. I am sure she will wonder why she didn’t get a tip! I always tip and tip well. But not for this one. My recommendation sit at the bar!

Used to really like the Courthouse, service is still excellent but on our last visit the food was sub-par. There are many great places for lunch in the area, so the Courthouse should be careful about allowing the quality of the cooking to falter. Unfortunately, I will be having lunch at some of those other venues in the foreseeable future.

Average pub food at best. Service is hit or miss. Some servers have obviously gotten the company memo that mediocrity is all one needs to strive for. Other servers are very good. Recently had the Cajun fish sandwich that was described as «blackened» with pineapple salsa along with other toppings. What I got was a breaded, fried fish sandwich with Cajun seasoning in the breading, no pineapple salsa with a side of tarter sauce instead. When I questioned the waitress she assured me it’s «supposed to be fried.» Look folks, blackening is a cooking method that has nothing to do with breading and deep frying! If you don’t know that as a restaurant you should not be in business. So I settled for getting the«pineapple salsa» on the side that they forgot. Sadly what I got was a side if regular salsa, no pineapple, that look like they swiped it off an order of nachos because there was shredded cheese in it! We were there on a not busy Sunday afternoon. Oh, and lest I forget, they served my kid soured milk. Talk about no one giving 2 hoots about your customers. This place needs new management and an owner who cares!

Interior was bland, but the servers were very friendly. Most of the food looked and tasted like it was previously frozen, which sadly included avocado. Before we got our food the prices didn’t seem bad, $ 12 for a salad and $ 10 for a wrap. After eating my husband and I agreed that it wasn’t worth the money and was rather disappointing. The beer was reasonably priced.

My husband and I went here for our anniversary dinner. The waitress was very friendly. My husband ordered the prime rib and I had the seafood alfredo. We also order the potato skins as an appetizer. Everything was delicious! The seafood alfredo was amazing!!!(See picture I posted). There was also plenty enough for leftovers for the next day. I will definitely be coming back here.

This is our«go to» place on Friday night’s — the wait is usually minimal(20 minutes max) and the food is ALWAYS good! The wait staff is always attentive and the atmosphere is great — doesn’t get much better and price is moderate! We’re there so much we could probably just order«the regular» LOL! It’s in a great area too where you can walk out onto the street and there is always something going on(music, festival, etc.). Great area!

Family dining … Comfortable restaurant. Menu had good variety and something for everyone. Service was great. I had fajitas which were amazing. A nice surprise sweetness to the sizzling pan was what set them apart from others. Price was average — no surprises, which is always a bonus! Good, solid flow of customers was assuring that the place is a regular for many. We’ll be back after we try others on the main drag of Putnam!

Not destination dining, but reliable food and prompt, friendly service bring us back whenever we’re in town. They have a good range of beers on tap, chilled glasses and lots of sandwiches and burgers to select from, plus the fries are properly crisp and they never forget the pickle spear!

I go to the Courthouse almost every week and with all the choices in central MA and northern CT, there’s a reason for that. The Courthouse is THATGOOD. Not a lot of fancy stuff, but great food, prices that are reasonable and a waitstaff that is very attentive and get to know the regular patrons. I’ve never had a bad meal there and although sometimes we’ve waited for a table, it’s never been too long and is always worth the wait. I have had my share of burgers there and the pasta romano is very good… but lately I’ve been dieting and the California Veggie Burger is the best veggie burger I’ve had from anywhere. Spiced just right and filling and satisfying. Love it!

Good service, food, and beer at reasonable prices. What else do you need? I’ve here in Putnam on business, and I’ve eaten here a number of times. Each time, I tried something different, and it was very good every time. The wait staff are all friendly and helpful, and are glad to offer advice on the restaurant’s choices. Finally, they have an excellent tap list featuring some very good craft beers, as well as the more common swill. Overall, it’s excellent, and I’ll keep coming back.

Enjoyed dinner at the Courthouse on a quiet Tuesday evening. The atmosphere is definitely casual with a waitress waving us to a booth in bar as e entered. They have a good cocktail and wine selection. Our party ordered a variety of entrees. The burgers were good and are creative with toppings. The clam strips were excellent — lightly breaded, not greasy and not overcooked and chewy. The tuna steak came out rate just as requested. Service was adequate but could have been a bit friendlier and attentive.

We returned one week later. The place was packed! A table for 8 arrived just as we did. Congratulations to the hostess, waitresses and bartender for keeping cool and for the courteous and attentive service. The fact that our requests for slight changes to our orders and the way the staff worked together is a testament to great training and managing skills. I would like to see a «fish Reuben» offered on the menu and the Mediterranean ravioli offered without chicken as a vegetarian alternative, This we requested and were granted. Consider also a smaler portion of the Mediterranean ravioli, vegetarian served with a side salad. My wife would have appreciated it. Thank you for a wonderful meal.

Wow… great time, great food and great service by Courtney. The only thing I didn’t like is the room itself. Wife and I went for drinks and appetizer. Hoping to sit at the bar but it was packed so they sat us in the front room on the other side of bar. Room was to bright and the room felt more like a breakfast place then a pub. That’s my only complaint because service by Courtney was outstanding. I don’t think I ever saw her stop running. Started off with Onion Strings which were very tasty & Buffalo Chicken tenders which also were very good. Getting those again. I then ordered the the clam strip appetizer as my meal which was a mistake after also eating the fried onion strings. The clam strips were good but could only eat a quarter of them because it was more fried food. I’d order them again but with no other fried food. My wife ordered one of the best things I’ve ever tasted. Butternut squash Ravioli. Topped with a garlic cream sauce. Absolutely delicious!!! Bill for 2 beers &2 wines and the food was $ 60. I was happy and I’ll be back. Only wish Courtney was a bartender.

Went here last night. Had never been to Putnam before but was told by some locals to check this place out. Parking seems like it could be tough on certain nights but we were able to grab a spot right out front and got seated very quickly. This is definitely a place where the locals hang out. Everyone seemed to know everyone and I think we kind of stuck out. I had a couple glasses of red sangria. Definitely not the the best I’ve had but not the worst. Ordered French onion soup for an appetizer. Delicious. For what it’s worth I was told after the fact that their clam chowder is top notch. Entrée was a chicken ranch wrap. Friend had a buffalo chicken wrap. Both very good. Both very filling. I have a feeling that there are not many restaurants in Putnam and we lucked out with this place. If I’m ever back in the area, I’ll go here.

the boyfriend and i stopped in here for lunch to try something new, and we both enjoyed our experience. draft beer selection was good; i went with a few inches of angry orchard, and the rest sierra nevada summer.(what? i like to mix…) there is also a wealth of bottle options, as well as an entire wine list. the good news is– there’s food, too! the menu is extensive, to the point where i was concerned. usually menus that large mean that everything is mediocre, with only one or two stellar items. i’m pleasantly surprised to say, it appears to be quite the opposite. there’s a healthy number of bar food appetizers, sandwiches, burgers, and salads. additionally, there are a good amount of entrees– pastas, seafood dishes, chicken. there’s basically something to please everyone. since we were only interested in a light lunch, we gravitated toward the sandwiches. the boyfriend went with a french dip that came with a lovely side of dark jus. his fries were hot and crispy, and he downed the sandwich quickly. i decided to indulge in a burger, since i’m not eating much meat these days. i got the bourbon glazed burger. in addition to the bourbon glaze, there were caramelized onions, sauteed mushrooms, and white american cheese. i asked for it prepared as rare as possible(because i like it bloody); this arrived properly rare, which is more than i can say for most places, so i didn’t complain. i upgraded to a pretzel roll, and substituted sweet potato fries for regular. the burger was juicy, delicious, and the toppings were well cooked. condiment freak that i am, i requested a side of ranch for dipping, as well as their house-made bleu cheese. both ranch and bleu cheese were to die for(in fact– i suspect the ranch is made in-house, as well). and the bleu cheese? it was more bleu cheese than dressing– delicious. because i can’t resist, i also opted to start out with a cup of the soup of the day, which was a creamy potato and garlic. oof– heavy on the garlic, delightfully creamy, with potatoes that were super tender– this was a thing of beauty. i like things spicy, so i spiked it with a little tabasco and my mouth was super happy. our bartender was excellent, and we made a point to cash out with her, as it was obvious her shift was ending. i wasn’t too pleased, however, with the incoming staff. i had beer shot at me from the draft line not once, but twice. not an apology, not an offer for a future discount– nothing. it was an unfortunate end to what was otherwise a great experience. we’ll certainly be back, but we won’t be sitting in front of the taps again…
