Choi David D MD

Dr. Choi was recommended to me by the «Having a healthy baby» program at pomona valley and I agreed because he was in my network and I wanted to know how far along I was already without having to wait on a different doctor. Let me just say he’s not the worst but not the best either thus my rating of ³⁄₅ stars; he’s alright. On the day of My first appointment I had forgotten the time I was supposed to go in and the nurse who is also the receptionist was pretty upset, but then again it was my fault so I’m not gonna blame anyone but myself on this point. After that the staff was always polite with me and Dr. Choi answered the questions I had for him however I felt like he doesn’t really build a connection with his patients and that I had to ask him questions in order for him to really tell me what was going on with my pregnancy. I feel like he could ask them how they have been feeling since the previous appointment. I also didn’t like that I had to go to the hospital for my labs and ultrasounds. I recently changed OB from dr choi because I didn’t think it was worth the going from upland to pomona so I found one closer to home and hopefully he meets my needs plus I don’t have a car to get around now so it’s definitely not worth me struggling getting to pomona.

Dr. Choi was my OB’s backup who she highly recommended while she was on vacation. Unfortunately for me, my baby decided to arrive before my OB was back in town and I had Dr Choi as my OB on delivery day. He was not very kind to me nor my husband. He attempted to insert an internal monitor without consent or even informing us of what he was doing. Later as the baby was crowning my husband and I BOTH reminded him that in our birth plan we wanted to delay cord clamping (which my doctor agreed to when we saw her at our last appointment). He asked why and when my husband explained, he laughed and proceeded to immediately clamp and cut our baby’s umbilical cord.
We wanted to have a low-​intervention, natural child birth and Dr Choi mocked us, telling us to just have our next baby at home and my mom could catch it since we didn’t want him to do anything.
I was very displeased with his lack of professionalism and lack of respect for our wishes. Thankfully we do have a happy and healthy baby and (unfortunately) that’s all that the doctors think matters.
If you want to have a natural birth experience in the hospital, Dr Choi is not the way to go.
