My family has been getting our cakes here for years and it now has become a tradition for everyone to get their bday cakes, baby shower cakes from here because the are so good. I prefer the strawberry with almonds along the side, but some people like the banana which is also good. I can’t imagine this bakery not around its part of the family.

They have the best cake I had in awhile. I like them better than 86 degrees any day.
The strawberry cake was moist and not overly sweet. Even my wife who don’t like sweets likes them.
Don’t let the outside and inside scare you, the owners are super nice and the cake is all that matters.

I’ve bought their birthday cake twice now (strawberries and cream, white spongecake, thinly sliced almonds around the sides). The cake itself is moist and light, the strawberries are fresh, and the cream is sweet, airy perfection – the kind of cake I could eat nonstop and never get sick of. Comparable to the one from Phoenix Bakery in Chinatown, imo (though my mom says the spongecake is slightly better there). This kind of taste is hard to find around Claremont, where there are tons of European style pastries that taste «heavy» and have super exotic flavors.
A few things to keep in mind:
Their «small» size is pretty large compared to the ones you’d see at Paris Baguette and other franchised bakeries, and it’s $ 27 which is neither cheap nor expensive (because of the size). At the same time, it’s not the kind of cake you can eat as often as you want… It would be nice if they sold by the slice as well.
Cash only, and the neighborhood is kinda shady – park right in front of the shop.

I found this bakery on Unilocal when I needed a birthday cake immediately, thirty minutes before closing time. Since the fruit tart was recommended by Unilocalers, I ordered that and they were able to make me one by the time I arrived in fifteen minutes. My picky mother does not like sweet stuff but she absolutely loved the fruit tart for her birthday. In fact, it was a big hit with everyone. Some people preferred more custard while others preferred more crust-​simply no pleasing everyone. I would take half a star off for being a cash only establishment but I would definitely go back.

Great birthday cake, spongy with fresh strawberries and not too sweet. Only drawback is location which is sketchy and no ATM you need cash which is inconvenient.
They recommend you call in your cake order as they tend to run out, so call ahead.

My mother has been coming here for my birthday cakes since I was little. They’ve always had the most tasty cakes. Now that I’m older and have a child of my own, I’ve been coming here for her cakes also. (Even though I don’t live near Pomona at all.)

Let me tell you, this is place is it! By far the most amazing birthday cake I have ever had the pleasure paying for (lol) most cakes are overly sweet and poorly made but this cake is white, spongy and moist, the cream and fresh strawberries send it above and beyond! It is extremely affordable and so delicious! I recommend to anyone, stop buying your birthday cakes anywhere else!
