Houston’s Restaurant

Long wait, but the food was delicious. Next time I will ask for less oil on my fish, but nothing that would deter me from coming back. Their setup includes nice canopies, and they’re on the bay.
Excellent atmosphere and great times were had. Our server was fantastic, and she was just enough conversation.
Their MP catch was grouper and was $ 30, with a mixed cauliflower. They were sensitive to my gluten-​free requirements.

AWESOME RESTAURANT! Beautiful view and the service was great. Awesome food! We had a super friendly Italian guy Gustavo as our waiter. Me and my family got artichoke dip, it was so tasty. The Caesar salad is excellent. Steak is more than enough. The Thai salad is delicious with just enough spicy kick so yummy and addicting. Ahi tuna steak was out of this world. The coleslaw was the only thing that was ok because my family doesn’t really like mayonnaise and they don’t really have virgin drinks. LOVE THIS RESTAURANT! Also free valet and this is a fancy $$ restaurant but worth it!

I’ve always hard good things about Houston’s and know there’s a few in the area, so finally gave it a try this Father’s day after my father chose it out.
Going through the obvious pros:
It’s a very nice, clean restaurant. For a «chain» restaurant there’s just a very contemporary look and feel to it. Not a whole lot of booths in the restaurant because each booth is given a lot of space with a big table for a more intimate dining experience. Despite the fact that it’s still kind of loud and there’s a lot of chatter, there isn’t a huge issue hearing people across the table from you. Also a great view along the intercoastal. Service was friendly and professional too.
That being said, I really don’t understand the appeal. A small, limiting, flat out uninspired and boring menu. Nothing on it really reached out to me or appealed to me so I thought I would go with a safe option with the Caesar salad. Dressing just didn’t have a lot of flavor (vinaigrette instead of a creamy caesar). I ordered chicken hoping for a nice, thick, grilled seasoned chicken breast of some sort. They basically just mix some thin sliced cold cut chicken breast like you’d order from the deli counter into the salad. The one positive about the salad were the croutons were phenomenal and tasted like they were freshly toasted, but I got maybe 3 of them on a plate?
Really small beer menu too. The bar in the restaurant literally only had 2 beers on tap. Not sure about the bar outside.
The review is a little harsh, but considering what you’re probably going to pay at Houston’s for a meal, I wouldn’t say you get your money’s worth. You’d be better off going to The Foundry right next door.

I have eaten at a lot of Houston’s and this one was a huge disappointment.
The pros– the view is amazing. The bar drinks were very well made.
The cons — after being seated on the patio we were left to sit. This was a Sunday night and the place was busy. We had to get up and go ask the hostess for a server. She was horrified and apologized and found a waitress. The waitress walked up and asked us if we knew what we wanted. I had to ask what the specials were. The two of us ordered the fish special, but one was specially ordered without shrimp. Both dishes showed up with shrimp and the fish over cooked. After a very long wait so we weren’t willing to send it back out of fear we would never get to eat. We had to ask for more water when we could find our waitress. At this point, we just wanted out.

I have been going here for years but recently went to celebrate my brothers birthday. There were 7 of us but apparently they will only allow 6 people at their largest table. They also do not have high-​chairs, so my niece had to sit in the booth with us. Other than that, the food is always great. It is just a shame that they are less accommodating.

You cannot deviate from the menu too much. Can’t do this, can’t do that.
Grilled chicken on the grilled chicken salad was closer to lunch meat than grilled chicken breast.
No to go coffee.
Waited forever for the bill as well.

Love this place. Service is always great. I always get the Hawaiian ribeye medium rare with fries. Never disappoints. Their fries and thin and lovely.

Hands down best Caesar salad ever !! We frequent this location often and as soon as I think about their salad I begin to salivate. Steaks are always fantastic, the service exceptional. Often their is a wait and when it’s snow bird season, even more so. The wait is totally worth it and so is their key lime pie !

Great food but unfriendly and slow service. I have been waiting 20 mins for a refill after asking and waving at servers. we came from a boat, ordered drinks at the bar. After waiting almost an hour to sit, the hostess asked my if I had a different shirt. I was wearing long sleeve button down a little sheer with bathing suit under it. Why don’t they say something before I wait an hour and spend money at the bar. It is a boating restaurant isn’t it?

I’ve always passed the restaurant and wanted to try it out. Finally I got that chance and I was not disappointed. I was welcome by the host and she took me to the table immediately without asking ‚“Is all your party are here?” Then she took my drink order and also the appetizer. As my family arrived, the appetizer and drinks was ready for them. The waitress was very nice as attentive. The food was simply delicious. I would love to tell you all what we ate but I do not remember the name. Lol. But I did took pictures. Check it out. I will definitely be back. And next time, I would love to dine at the patio.

Sit at inside bar with Amber. I always do. She just has that natural ability to make you feel comfortable and entertained all at the same time. She is a natural and her service is very genuine and reaches the level of perfection every time I visit.
I always recommend the pork chop… Cooked medium is nice and it comes out perfect. Let Amber recommend wines to go with any food choice… She knows what’s up! Jesse at inside bar makes an incredible martini too.
This long time food critic is always happy at Houston’s, and even though the food is always great. The people who work here like Amber and Jesse make it better!

Came here from Michigan with my family — at our table we had two chicken sandwiches, a French dip, a house salad, and a spinach artichoke dip. Each entrée exceeded expectations. We each additionally had a cup of coffee that was clearly of a premium bean. Upon finishing our meals we were treated with a key lime pie that was as decedent as the view we were able to enjoy sitting on their world class patio. We will definitely be back!

We had a wonderful time for dinner. It’s so rare in south Florida to find both good food and good service. Why is that btw? We’ve been disappointed repeatedly at other restaurants by either awful food or service or both! It shouldn’t be such a shock when you have a nice meal!
Waitress was so nice we knew immediately she wasn’t from here. :) Just wonderful service.
Food was absolutely delicious! And the view is delightful. It checked all three priorities! Food service and view. Yes it’s pricey. Be prepared. But you’re actually getting good food and service and view. Keep that in mind.
Yes it’s SoFlo so the snobs are there. Just ignore them. We don’t go out to eat to make friends with the other patrons.

Been to Houston’s at different locations all throughout Florida and they have always been good, have been to this specific location quite a few times now for lunch or early dinner.
Service is good, nice water view if you seat outside, easy parking lot or valet but this place, as well as other Houston;s are always crazy packed. So expect a wait.
The food is solid too. Everything i have tried is good but i normally have the same thing. This past Sunday i decided to try their fish sandwich and it was delicious!
Good place for lunch or drinks.

Because they don’t take reservations I avoid coming here but often I don’t have a choice if picked by my dining companions.
Good Unfanciful affordable hefty portions. I don’t know why but whenever I come here I see an inordinate amount of big boned consumers like at all you can eat buffets…
Our server Ariana was sweet though a bit flirty with my partner telling him he had «soft hands» as she giggled. But I’m sure she was trying to be personable but often a bit too chatty «no heavy lifting» she said each time we passed her a hard to teach plate. She was pleasant but should tone down a tad.
The food is tasty though no vegan gluten free healthy clean options so you always have to ask to modify or get sides …
Not what it used to be but still popular and noisy enuff to be successful apparently.
And what is it? Houston or Hillstone?

I was here for a business lunch and the weather was nice (shocking for Florida, right?) and we were able to sit outside which faces a canal. Service was attentive and friendly. My only complaint for sitting outside was that it was a bit difficult to hear the people sitting with you. And since this was a business lunch I had to struggle a bit to hear.
I ordered the most amazing kale chopped salad that I’ve ever had. HUGE portion and chopped with a delicious vinaigrette dressing I was in love. My fellow dining partners had the seared tuna salad and a fish sandwich. Not a bite left on either of their plates.
Houston’s is a bit on the expensive side as our lunch for three with iced teas was $ 70. Parking is valet.

Fantastic spot. Landing at West Palm Beach and was driving around looking for a spot for lunch. Saw the reviews for Houston’s on Unilocal and decided to give it a try. We arrived shortly before they began serving, but the hostess was courteous and seated us, with the heads up that it would be a few minutes before our server got to us. One of the best parts about Houston’s is the fantastic views. I’ve been to very few places with nicer outdoor seating. I had the Fish sandwich which was delicious. It is lightly fried grouper on a homemade brioche roll, with spicy mayo, coleslaw, red onion and dill pickles. The fish was fresh, flakey and flavorful. They serve it with one of the most addicting SIMPLE side salads I’ve ever had. A really great place that I look forward to visiting again.

What’s not to love?! My mom comes here often and always raves about how good their food is. she absolutely loves it here and said she knows i would too. Finally i decided to go along with her for lunch today and I have to say, she was right!
Pulling up, there’s valet parking and the guys are really nice and welcoming. After steping inside, it took a couple seconds for my eyes to adjust to the lightning, as it is very dim in here. But there’s nothing wrong with that, i actually prefer it that way. We were greeted and seated. We were hoping to sit outdoors but there was 25 minute wait. (It’s Beautiful outside so i can see what the buzz is all about)
Another person greeted us and took out drink order and 2 minutes after getting it, our waiter, Sean, (or could be spelled Shawn) arrived. Since my mom insist that the thai steak noodles is absolutely the best, i decided that would be my choice.
When my plate arrived, i didn’t know what to think. Lol. it was a lot. A lot of ingredients. A lot of colors. A lot of texture and taste. I mean really the most unique thing i have ever eaten. Some ingredients were cool while others were warm. There were chunks of sweet juicy mangoes and ripe avocados. I loved the green seasoning. The steak was PERFECT. Huge chunks of steak just melt in your mouth.
There were peanuts, and a little mint leaves (which I’m not huge fan of) but it wasn’t over poweringI mean i just couldn’t get over how unique this dish was and how all the ingredients complemented each other.
The service was great. Our waiter was the perfect gentleman. He had us laughing and took his time helping my mom decide on a new dish and servers kept coming around to refill our glasses ever so often. All the staff we dealt with had great smiles and we’re really accommodating.
Can’t wait to return, hopefully ill get a seat outside next time and try dessert!

I’m happy to see that the Houstons brand is still around. A group of us decided to dine here after searching for steak restaurants. They offer complementary valet parking or you can self park.
We were expecting a long wait with it being a Friday evening. We were given 2 options for seating. Outside with over an hour wait or inside with a 15 minute wait. We chose to sit inside since it looked like it was going to rain. We were seated pretty quickly which was nice. It took the waitress some time to acknowledge us but she finally did. She explained the specials and took our drink orders.
One thing to note. They use a wood fire grill for almost all of their dishes so if your’re allergic to Hickory like I am then you will have limited choices for dinner. The waitress did ask to see if they would be willing to flat grill the fish and or steak and they could not accomodate which was a little disappointing. I ended up ordering the Apricot Glazed Chicken since its basically roasted chicken. The dish came with a side of cous cous tha was mixed with parsley, tomatoes, almonds and radishes. I honestly could have eaten a whole plate of the cous cous by itself it was that good. The chicken was tender and moist. This is a very filling dish. I didnt realize that the meal included a half of chicken. It was enough for 2 people to share.
The reason for the 3 stars is mainly due to the service. We had to flag down our waitress for assistance. She almost seemed annoyed with some of our questions regarding the menu etc. We all wanted dessert but instead of asking us she brought over our checks. It almost was like we were being rushed out of there.
