Holiday Inn Express & Suites Pontoon Beach

This gets one star only because this app makes you. I have had to stay at this place twice before. Filthy front lobby welcomes you to a dirty carpet room only to be associated with a hotel for the traveling construction trade. Haven’t had any real problems with this place other than the cleanliness. Today I checked in to a computer mounted on a piece of plywood with a front desk clerk watching a vulgar movie blaring right in front of everyone. They are remodeling. Clerk says they are being rebranded. Now it’s a park regency until laquinta takes over. Filthy construction process. While I realize every building needs TLC from time to time, this was ridiculous. DONT STAY HERE. As a side note l, the Denny’s across the way is the most run down filthy restaraunt I’ve ever seen.

This hotel is right across from a police station along with a Denny’s and McDonalds. We checked in late in the am on New Years Day and the woman at the counter was nice. The room was clean overall, pretty good for a nights stay, but at a higher rate compared to better hotels we have stayed at. The bed and pillows were comfortable. Has a microwave, mini fridge, sink and a small flat screen. The heat and cool air worked just fine. The bathroom was clean, but the toilet seemed pretty old, we had a bad experience with the weak toilet and had to go get a plunger. Lower quality towels, tissue and toilet paper, perhaps this is a standard with the express hotels? Also, the hair dryer was functional, but tiny, so ladies with long hair, I recommend bringing your own! The only bad thing we encountered was that housekeeping kept knocking on our door and even attempted to come into the room. We had a long night and did not expect for housekeeping to come by three times. We felt very rushed by them, housekeeping needs better notification of which guests that have yet to check out, or come by after the noon check out time. Other than the odd experience with housekeeping, the room was fine. The gentleman at the counter was also nice during check out.

The good: the understanding manager who helped us get out of this creepy room.
The bad: the dirty room that we were offered as accommodation. At first glance it seems as if the place is ok. At a second glance you start realizing that you are either standing in a stranger’s hotel room or standing in your unclean room with trash in the cabinet, fridge, and bathroom.
The bottom line: this was the only time I have experienced this level of product and service with this hotel family. Hoping for a better experience in the future.

Nice rooms. Bed was comfy with both soft and firm pillows. Bathroom had shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion and a shower cap. The room also had a kitchen sink, small fridge and microwave. There’s a flat screen tv. There is a kidney shaped pool. We didn’t use the pool but it looked clean. They have a complimentary express breakfast with fresh food and it was clean, made it easy to get back on the road. Decent hotel if you need a quick place to stop. We stopped while driving across the country and checked in at 11pm and left at 8am. People were nice. Nothing spectacular but a decent cheap quick hotel, but could have been a little cheaper for the area. We paid $ 100 for the night and then noticed most of the other hotels right off the highway there were $ 30 or so less but not sure of the quality of the other hotels. Also, the towels were the cheap, not so very soft, hotel towels.

Very clean, quiet, large room. They have new products that smell like cinnamon rolls (shampoo, conditioner, soap) but also have extras– a mini nail file, lens cleaner, makeup remover– –lotsa little extras.
$ 84 with AAA discount for two people. Felt safe– the police station is right next door!
Cons: the mini bar sink did not have water and the bathtub would not hold water. Hmm. Still, the pros outweighed the cons and this was still a 4 star find for me.
