Steak ‘n Shake

Not sure why so many gave this place such a low rating. Service was great and the meals are made to order, not just setting under a heat lamp. Seasoned fries are great. Highly recommend the Western BBQ Burger.

So, this is the only Steak n Shake in the area; needless to say I was super excited when I found it. My experience the other day made me rather uncomfortable. I ordered a Nutella shake but when I got it, it was basically vanilla with a drop of Nutella. I asked them to add Nutella. The shake maker brings it back to me with huge globs of Nutella on top. I ask if he could stir it or mix it and he gives me an awful, evil look (his eye twitched and everything). When he brought my shake back, I just felt scared to drink it. I felt like it had been tampered with. He was just so angry and his vibe so evil that something in me told me not to drink that shake. I told the manager about my exchange with the guy and she said she would talk to him, but I don’t think I’ll be going back for a while. That experience was not a good one. This is the only Steak n Shake in the Savannah area, please be careful of who makes your shake.

A very good place for lunch! Everything is freshly made and delicious.

It took 35 minutes to get a simple order out and they didn’t even make the whole thing correctly. Another 15 minutes and I still didn’t have part of my order corrected.

DO NOT STOP HERE!!! Horrible all the way around! Me, my wife, and our 2 year old son stopped here a week ago to grab some dinner on our way to Disney. Even though they weren’t busy, we stood at the front awkwardly for about 5 minutes before anyone ever came over to greet or seat us. After we were sat it took about another 10 minutes for them to bring us our drinks after the took our drink order. We then waited for 35 minutes for 2 burger combos and a hotdog kids meal. My wife’s was totally wrong. It had topping she said she didn’t want and it was missing the ones she asked for. She sent hers back and they brought a sad cold version of what she ordered back in 2 minutes. I ordered my burger with only mushrooms and melted cheddar (the cheese they put on their fries). The mushrooms were burnt and instead of using the cheese for the fries the cut a chunk off a block and microwaved it until it was mostly melted (you could still see the shape from where they cut it off the block), and after all that it was cold AND had a burnt grease taste. My son’s hot dog was burnt and covered with black/​burnt grease that I guess came from them not keeping the grille clean, spit out the bite he took and wouldn’t eat another bite. Out of all three of us we probably took a total of 3 bites and ate an order of fries, and you can forget about getting a refill. Other than when she brought or drinks, food, and bill our waitress was nowhere to be found. What should have been about a 45 minute stop took a total of 1 hour and 25 minutes. This place is ridiculous!!! I will stick to the great service and food we get from the one near our home in Myrtle Beach.

I haven’t been to a Steak & Shake in years and so when I was on a short road trip yesterday we stopped in Pooler, GA to dine real quick. Pooler has blown up in the past year. Located about 30 – 45 minutes outside of Beaufort, SC, off I95, Pooler has added some Tanger Outlets, a movie theater, bowling, many restaurants, and much more. We were in a rush, but didn’t want ‘fast’ food (although Steak & Shake has a drive-​thru window) so we stopped.
First, the place was busy– you could tell walking in that they turn and burn them there which is fine. We were sat within 3 to 4 minutes and quickly greeted by our server. She was very polite. We ordered and received our food within 15 minutes– I expected longer. Although we were sat quickly, while waiting for our food I could tell that some guests walking in the door did not get seated as quickly due to tables being cleaned. I think it was a staffing issue– putting a busser or server assistant on the schedule probably would have helped, but that’s just an opinion.
Food was good. I ordered the regular burger with bacon, fries with an added flavoring option– sea salt and pepper, and a strawberry shake with real strawberries to share with the boyfriend. The burger was perfect for the price and tasted great. There was way too much seasoning on the fries, I know this is just a matter of taste, but I can’t imagine anyone wanting that much salt on their fries. The shake was heavenly and my boyfriend even asked if he thought I could make one like it at home. For less than $ 20 (with a $ 5 tip) we got a quick lunch for two with good service so I can not complain. I will suggest when adding flavoring to your fries, ask them for «light» or forego it all together because they keep seasoning on the table.

The restaurant itself was kinda dirty. The waitstaff were all gathered in the back chatting. I saw one couple sitting for an extended period of time and looking for their waiter. I went to the counter and told them that the people looked upset. our waitress Brittney was very efficient and friendly. I LOVE Steak and Shake, so I will go back. The food was good and the fries were hot! I think they need a new manager.

Took 1.5 hours from walking in to walking out, double what I’ve ever experienced at any other Steak n Shake. It took over 30 minutes to get 3 kids shakes, burgers were overwhelmed with an insane amount of mustard, and the meat was cold and crusted over. Highly recommend you just skip it. Go to five guys next door or somewhere across the street. The staff had no motivation and acted as if waiting for 45 minutes to get food was ok. Just another example…

Extremely disappointed with the cleanliness of this restaurant. There is a lot of food on the floor around the booths, no paper towels in the restroom, toilet paper not in the dispensers of the bathroom (sitting on back of toilet and on handicap bar). A lot of dust on the light fixtures above the tables. and at least 4 light bulbs out in the light fixtures above the bar and tables. Stood at the host/​hostess stand for a good 5 minutes before even being acknowledged. Our server was very nice.

Ate there today, 6−14−15. Had Demario as a waiter. For the second time he was slow and unfriendly. We waited forever for our food. We also waited so long for our shakes that when they came to the table, they were completely melted. When we said something to him he said it was because of the hot fudge even though all but one did not have hot fudge. He also forgot to bring my son’s milkshake to him. He is a great example of what not to do as a waiter.

This was my first time stepping into a Steak –n– Shake. I notice they have kinda like a 60’s feel with the theme and all. Over all not a bad scene. The service was on point from start to finish. The hostess took care of me and the friends I went with.
Our waiter I believe his name was Andrew? was awesome! If you got this location in particular, you’ll definitely want his services as he goes above and beyond with his customer service. On top of the excellent customer service; I was amazed at the prices on their menu! Nothing was over $ 7!
I proceeded to order the Jalapeño Crunch Burger. For those of you into spicy food you should give this a try. Overall, my time here was well worth it! Now in comparison with a five guys… Lol lets just say I’d have to think on that a little more because they both have great aspects about their food respectively

Good luck getting these people to FOLLOW DIRECTIONS ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU ASK 3 times! The last several visits have been disappointing. I am finished with them. Won’t be back.

I grew up on Steak and Shake in Illinois and was thrilled when we finally got one here close to Savannah. I was not disappointed either. You just can’t beat a steakburger and shoestring fries. Good service and very friendly atmosphere. I’ve had 1 server who needed to smile more but I think she had had a bad day, everyone else has always been very friendly though and they do keep the place clean. Overall it’s delicious! Oh and don’t forget to try their milkshakes!

A bit slow but manager is apologetic. Food was colder than I would expect and we received regular fries instead of the flavored fries we ordered. Aside from that, it’s a nice casual burger joint!

Friendly staff, however they were seriously under staffed when we visited.
Every single empty table in the restaurant was dirty.
We were promptly seated and after 10 minutes of waiting for a server and to get two of our four chairs cleaned off of food we departed.
Perhaps we’ll visit again.

Service was awful took forever to get our food, did not serve us water. The table was dirty. The waitress was the worst she was rude and Had an attitude. The food was not worth the price but shakes were pretty good but we wanted to enjoy them with our meal, and we didn’t get them until after .will nerver go back.

My mum and I go here every now and then and each time has always been great. The food is always excellent coming out, service is always good, price is always right and the place is always very clean and well kept. Management is also very nice and attentive as well.
The only hiccup was one evening where the frier exploded when a friend of mine and I came by. We still ate, but the service is really really slow at night. We had to flag down the waiter a couple times even when there was only 3 other tables in the establishment. Regardless, the food was still great even though the service at night left a bit to be desired.
All in all, one of the best nicely priced burger joints in Pooler.

I went in today around 230pm and there were very few people in there so I was seated right away.
It has a diner feel with 50s/​60s music playing.
I didn’t realize it but it was happy hour so I ordered the salted caramel shake and the jalapeño chicken sandwich. They were both alright. The shake was huge with chunks of pretzels. And the burger was spicy, nothing special but wasn’t bad either.
If I’m in the area I may stop for a shake but I wouldn’t make it a regular stop.

I usually wouldn’t review a fast food place but this one was so bad I feel compelled too. Prices are in line with most burger fast food restaurants but you’ll honestly have a better experience at the McDonalds about 200 yards away. Our order was incorrect and we were missing 2 items. Fries were soggy and burgers where tossed together with no care whatsoever. The milk shake could have saved the day but unfortunately at the bottom sat a tennis ball size of chocolate syrup that was disgusting.

I am a longtime fan of Steak ‘n Shake, so it gets an automatic five stars.
This restaurant is brand new, and it shows. The décor is much more retro than older SnS locations.
On this visit the wait was 40 – 60 minutes for a table for five at about 6:15 pm. It’s new and very popular.
