Havent been here in awhile. Service is great, but the food has went downhill. My wife’s favorite meal was prepared wrong. came out on a corn tortilla not a flour and no rice. Will not be returning.

Rancho Grande is a pretty average Mexican Tex-Mex restaurant. I usually order the fajitas chicken and beef with flour tortillas feed a group of 4 or 5. I wasn’t very impressed with the serving portions and quality of the meat, it was a little hard to chew and too dry at times. They do have HAPPYHOUR from 2pm to 5pm so that helps if you’re looking for margaritas! Don’t take it the wrong way, it’s not a bad place. I’ve just had better meals at other Tex-Mex establishments. The service is a hit or miss but they are usually attentive to you if you are polite and nice when you ask for things.

I am a regular at this place, i visit Nederland every week for work. When i am there i usually vist this restaurant, lets face it Nederland area does not have much choices. Every time im here we get great service, the host are usually friendly and respectful. The reson i give 4 stars is because the food is alright, its basic tex mix restaurant, but it has great service.

Not vegetarian friendly. Most people have veggie fajitas, so I asked and the waitress said no problem. They come out mediocre, consisting of broccoli, cauliflower and carrots. No bell pepper or any flavors resembling mexican food. At this point, I said ohh well and started to eat them as steamed veggies. All was ok until the check came out for 17.99! Crazy. Waitress apologized, but took a while for manager to come make it right. He was not very nice about it and said he would only fix it this once, but that’s the price for veggie fajitas, 17.99. That’s insane. He said it was a custom order… I mean really?! A side of veggies on the menu is maybe 3 – 4 dollars. Let’s get real. I doubt I’ll be going back because no one likes to argue about how much they want to pay for their meal.

Took 10 minutes to even get a waiter, and that was done by flagging someone down. They were not busy. Manager just stared at us and continued to talk and laugh with his friends. High prices for mediocre food at best. Will not be back

The salsa was good if you like it served warm, but other than that the main dish was not good at all. My coworker got chicken fajitas and had to cut up the dried out chicken breast himself. I got the Diablo chicken(chicken in a jalapeño with cream cheese wrapped in bacon). I know it sounds good but was extremely dry and had no spices or Marinade of any sort on the food. It was Served fajita style on a bed of dried out, raw, undercooked onions– which was the same for my coworkers chicken fajitas. Overall a really poor tasting meal and definitely over priced as I only got a water and still spent $ 20 after the tip. For much better Mexican food you should drive about 50 yards farther on the feeder road to La Cantina — better food with better prices

This place is just ok. I wasn’t impressed with the food. It was alright but not the best Mexican food I’ve ever had and I love Mexican food. The salsa wasn’t very good and the sodas taste flat. The environment is nice though. Kid friendly. We went to Sombrero a week or two ago and it was much better!

Good chips and salsa, the stuffed avocado is the most interesting thing on the menu. Everything else is fairly standard tex mex choices. The best of the three tex mex places within a half mile of each other in port Arthur.

While traveling we stop in and very surprised. Had very good customer service along with some good food. We really loved the warm salsa with the right amount of spice.

Everyone raved about this place and how amazing it was… so we went for lunch and left feeling very let down. We all ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp which was supposed to have jalapeño in it… none of us could find any. The flavor was just«ok»… as in 3 stars and I wonder if they know what salt and pepper is. Service was ok for a lunch crowd but I really have to wonder what everyone see’s in this place. I guess we had the wrong item :( The salsa wasn’t anything special either, I’m guessing it was a jar version… oh well. The parking lot was so packed when we drove by we thought«man it’s gotta be good»… but it wasn’t.

Amazing deep fried avocado! Only miss step was warm salsa. I don’t prefer it, but some may. Great service all around, got seated quickly and my order came out in no time during lunch rush. If your ever in port arthur and have a craving for Mexican defiantly give this place a try.

Salsa was warm not chiled and primarly diced onions in a weird tomato sauce. Food was not Texmex nor Mexican(I have had alot of both) and was not very good. This place is were the locals go to get drunk and maybe eat. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.

This place is great. I love the table side guacamole, it’s the best. I drive out of my way just to go here.

This is gut-filling Mexican food. Nothing unusual or «haute cuisine,» but just good, solid Mexican food. The service was good. The restaurant was lively. Ample parking. Live music Wednesdays and Thursdays(and why not on weekends??). Prices are mid-range, as to be expected. This restaurant is in «hotel row,» with Super 8, Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn Express being a stone’s throw away.

I really wish I can go three and a half stars here because the food was very good and the service was up to par as well… what’s keeping it from 4 stars is simply the layout of the place… I felt like I was right on top of the people around us… full on missionary… very few times have I been that uncomfortable whilst dining out… anyway to the food… I ordered the nachos and the lady had the chicken enchiladas… both scrumptious… scrumptious…getting feminine again… well we both agreed the nachos was the better choice so of course that prompted us switching plates… whaddayagonnado…to wrap this bitch up Rancho Grande is definitely one of the better Mexican restaurants in the area… aside from the interior seating.

I came back in town for some drinks and my brother suggested this place for some good margaritas. We came on a Monday night and the place was slow. But I have to say the service was amazing. We had a server named Bryan and he was amazeballs. He refilled our drinks right when we needed and our chips were never empty. Although I can’t comment on the food, since we ate before heading there, the service was great for a restaurant. Oh and the margarita hit the spot!

Beef fajitas were good and flavorful. Queso dip and crispy ground beef tacos were a bit mediocre. The chips & salsa is slightly different from other Tex Mex places because the salsa is served warm. We got our food VERY quickly… about 5 minutes after we ordered it!

I have always heard about Rancho Grande and had to give it a chance. I like to think of myself as a Tex-Mex/Mex-Mex connoisseur so here goes. We went on a thursday for happy hour around 6:00 and the crowd was bustling. The place was full, but there were still some tables open. We decided to sit on the patio, which we sort of regretted because you can smoke out there, but luckily, not too many people were smoking. They start you off with some chips and salsa which are decent, but nothing to write home about. Same goes for the queso. I prefer my queso thick and spicy and Rancho delivered what I considered watery queso. The quantity of queso did make up for its shortcoming though. For drinks we both got jumbo frozen margaritas. I wouldn’t brag about its fresh ingredients or homemade mix, but it still tasted good. After two of these bad boys, I was feeling tipsy. Don’t even ask what happened after three! For an entrée I ordered the Chile Relleno filled with chicken. I have been on a Chile Relleno kick and it has become my new barometer for good Mexican food. So how did Rancho do? Pretty good. The refried beans tasted good and had a nice chunky consistency. The rice was equally as tasty. The star of the show, scores a 3 out of 5. The chile was thoroughly cooked, topped with cheese while the chicken was properly cooked and not dried out. I think they could have spiced the chicken a little better, but you can solve that with some Cholula sauce. While I have been to more vibrant Mexican restaurants, I will come back to Rancho Grande if I can’t make it to Houston.

We decided to give Rancho Grande another chance after a lackluster take out experience several months ago. This trip was dine-in on a Saturday night. The restaurant was crowded, but there was no wait. We were seated in a side room and given the obligatory chips and salsa. The chips were fresh, but the salsa was just OK. Unlike many I’ve had, this salsa was served heated. I ordered«The Sheriff» which is a combo of steak, chicken and shrimp fajitas. We also ordered the guacamole which was prepared table side. The guacamole was the highlight of the meal. It was actually good, especially considering that I am not particularly fond of avocados. The fajitas came sizzling with equal portions of each item. The shrimp were cut down the middle so they were flat. While cooked perfectly they still had the shell on. Because they were flattened they were very difficult to peel. The chicken and steak were cooked well, but weren’t very good. Service was slow, but friendly. It seems that this place is very popular, but I’m not a big fan.
