I like Sam’s. I want to call it a dive bar, but I feel like it’s a little above a dive bar. It’s not a real dive bar… although there are alcoholics there. Young and old come here to drink. Occasionally they have DJs. I am told the cops congregate there but it doesn’t seem to be the case. There’s also Shuffleboard, good-enough food, and friendly bartenders. they told me to pipe down when I got into a political argument with somebody at the bar… of course we were basically screaming at each other so they had every right to tell us to chill out.

Do not come to this bar. There are so many other better options in this area. I came here with my husband(at the end of the night) and I forgot to bring my ID out so the bartender told me he wouldn’t serve me. As a bartender myself I 100% understand that! So we decided to call it a night & as my husband went to the bathroom I asked the bartender for a water. He decided to be a complete a*hole about it and tell me «you can’t even be sitting at my bar I’m not serving you Anything» I will never be returning to this place!!!

The worst place I ever been to! I asked for a drink and I was served watered soda. I complained about it and I was asked if I wanted my money back. I’m never going back here. Too bad because I leave few mins away:-(

The worst bar in the area unless you want watered down toxic drinks. Don’t waste your time. Drug infested bar.

Miss the old SAMS for sure. Food was high quality as the service. The only thing going for it is the shuffleboard

Hang out bar with great shuffle board table. Food is defiantly better than you would think by the looks of the bar. My favorite is the steak wedge. I have been known for boating down Byram River to get Steak wedges from Sams for everyone on board. They use a 1 inch thick sirloin steak served on garlic bread and hot peppers. One of the best steak wedges every had. Its kicking!

Hi All, The Sams(previous owner) food selection was much better. The food quality just isn’t as good and the prices are similar. I used to be a regular restaurant patron here. But that changed. After several recent attempts to continue my consistent patronage there, I left disappointed and am no longer a regular. The only thing better about the food, is that now it is late night which the previous owner stopped many years ago. The bar is much more presentable now. Bathrooms are redone, new coat of paint. However these enhancements come with a rising cost in the drinks. Dont get Coronas… the fridge doesn’t work well as those beers have been warm on most occasions. The service now has more bartenders, but still is quite poor. At least previously one person was behind the bar and handled it well. Now they have 3 or more people and you get ignored. The scene is now much snobbier during regular hours. I would only go after midnight or later now. The shuffle board is the best feature of this bar. One of the longest in the area. just dont put your beer on the table please! Also parking is awful here. Used to be able to park in the lot next door… now you have to cross the street or park on street somewhere. This has become very difficult since TarryLodge nearby re-opened. — MSZ
