We have been meaning to give this place a try. They don’t do a lot of advertising so it doesn’t always come to mind when you’re thinking of a place to go. But we’re so glad we thought of it tonight. Everything we had was excellent, fresh and tasted homemade. We will definitely be back. Kelly was a joy also. Highly recommend.

We were on a drive and had read the reviews about Kelly Joy’s. So we stopped in for a late lunch. We were delighted. The atmosphere was casual and friendly. My wife had the pulled pork basket. It is a combination of pulled pork, homemade chips, and melted cheese. My wife’s description was, «Yummy.» I had the pulled pork sandwich with sweet potato fries. It was excellent! The pork was naturally juicy and was not overly sauced. For an appetizer, we had the deep fried green beans. They were great. All the food is homemade. The pork is slow cooked for 14 hours. In a previous review someone mentioned that the portions were generous leaving a good amount to take home. They were right. However, the food was so good we didn’t have a lot to take home.

The food is awesome, from the pulled pork to the chippers to the cupcakes and the great thing is that it is all homemade. Kelly Joy is very attentive but her servers leave something to be desired. If the food wasn’t so good we would have not revisited. Just be sure that you have plenty of time when go there to eat.

Came in for dinner and had the Brisket Nachos which were exceptional. Topped it off with homemade rhubarb pie. Yumm. Had such a great experience that I decided to come back the next day for lunch and brought a friend. We split the BBQ Pulled Pork and Brisket Sandwiches substituting the chips for Fried Green Beans and Sweet Potato Fries. My favorite was the Pulled Pork. The waitress brought extra BBQ sauce and horseradish. Kelly Joy’s is a must stop if in the area and save room for dessert. Here’s a tip: If you want alcohol, you can go to the bar next door, Active Lounge, and Kelly Joy’s will deliver the food to you at your table in the bar.

Love this place! I ate here a few weeks ago while visiting family in nearby Marysville. What a great place to eat! The Smokehouse Basket is a favorite of mine, but my family love the Smokin’ Burger! We also had the chance to talk to the owner Kelly, and we learned a little about the story of this restaurant, and let’s just say, this food is all made from family owned and created recipes. The desserts are all great(we have tasted many of them), and she makes some of the best Gluten-Free cupcakes I have ever tasted! She does catering and takes orders for her desserts too!

We tried the newly opened Kelly Joy’s Smokehouse for lunch this week and we were all happy with our meal choices. All sandwiches/burgers are served with shredded coleslaw and crunchy homemade chips. I decided to try the BBQ Burger so I could have a bit of the pulled pork too. It was very good and FILLING. The menu is small, but just right for lunch. An added plus would have to be the sweet treats waiting at the checkout counter. I decided on a Strawberry Cupcake to take back to work for later. It was very tasty. I hope that this mother/daughter combo, and their team, will be around longer than their predecessors. It’s nice to have someone cooking on 7th and Lapeer again.
