Amazing sushi and friendly servers! We got the«all you can eat» sushi and it was totally worth it. Love it!

Great atmosphere, great selection for all you can eat. Great drinks. The staff was right on point. Not rushing you to eat. But right there to fill drink.

Sushi is decent, though not perfectly fresh and their appetizers are usually pretty good. I tend to get their AYCE option when I’m feeling ravenous and because it’s a pretty good deal($ 20 M-Th, $ 23 F-S). Though I haven’t been to too many sushi places around LI, I still think this one’s legit for the value. I will say that their teriyakis are a bit bland, but somehow salty? Everything else is a safe bet. 3.5 stars

Great place! We did the AYCE sushi and it was amazing. I’ve been to a few other sushi restaurants that offer AYCE sushi and Vortex offers much more variety. Special rolls, appitizers and other cooked entrées are all part of the AYCE option. I found the quality of the fish better then the other sushi buffets I’ve been to and the don’t skimp on the fish. All the rolls were chock full of fish. As others have said, they do charge a food wasting fee and we were warned but finishing everything wasn’t a problem for us. The only negative was the sushi did not come out as quickly as we would have liked. Don’t expect to be in and out in a half hour. I’m not deducting a star for the slowness because I felt the food was well worth the wait.

So here’s the thing… the sushi is pretty good. Fish is fresh. The«all you can eat» is a nice feature, but it has some problems. Things were better BEFORE they instituted that menu, but I suppose, there weren’t as many patrons there either. 1) People seem to think it’s OK to bring large, noisy groups. If you couple that with the«um-cha-um-cha» base-heavy music they play, the atmosphere it can get unpleasant. The space doesn’t have the kind of construction to support that environment — it’s too big, echoy, and cold(is «echoy a word?) CJ O. is exactly right — it feels like you’re eating in a «bowling alley». 2) You mark the paper with 10 items, and you might get 8 of them if you’re lucky. Things get missed. Service is the real problem here. The servers are very pleasant, but either they, or the kitchen, is completely incompetent. We placed 3 orders — I requested baked mussels on EACH order. They showed up 1 time in 3. Seaweed salad showed up 1 time in 2. This kind of thing has happened EACH time we’ve been there. Don’t think I’ll be going back again. This place started out really nice, but it’s jumped the shark. Time to move on.

There’s no type of excitement like knowing that you’re about to gorge yourself in sushi, appetizers, and ice-cream. Although AYCE sushi places aren’t known for the best grade fish, Hoshi Sushi and Sushi Palace definitely do it better than Vortex. Don’t come here and leave disappointed like I did. The fish was not as fresh compared to other restaurants’ within the area. The nigiri had more rice than fish & the ice-cream was the cheaper version. You know good matcha ice-cream when you can taste the slight bitterness of matcha followed by sweetness; here, it was just sweet ice-cream. The appetizers were alright, and the only redeeming feature of this restaurant is its décor. If you want to be over stuffed with good fish and food, this isn’t the place for you

Thinking about heading to Vortex for lunch or dinner… don’t! This place was a huge disappointment. Vortex Asian Bistro has the ambiance of a bowling alley, complete with tacky neon lighting and football playing on the surrounding TVs. We went on a Sunday night to celebrate a birthday and recent graduation, and there was only one other party in the restaurant besides us. The service was… slow and awful. We filled out our order forms, and the server took them over to the kitchen. They brought out the few things we ordered that were hot food items, which were quickly eaten. In the interim, I see what looks like our whole platter of sushi being delivered to the only other table in the restaurant. Eventually, the server came back and asked if we wanted anymore food. Umm, yes, we want all of that sushi we ordered about an hour ago. She just gives us this lackadaisical look and walks over to the other table. Clearly, she discovers that she has given them our sushi order, takes their platter away, and quickly brings it into the kitchen. She is speaking to the other servers and sushi chefs, chatting and then laughing. She did not come over to our table to acknowledge her mistake or apologize for the wait. How do you deliver an order to the wrong table when there are only 2 parties in the whole restaurant?! Finally, our order comes, still with items missing. After filling out another paper and placing a second order, we eventually ended up with most of the items we had wanted initially(2+ hours later.) The sushi quality was good, I will give them that, but the service is the worst I have ever experienced in any dining establishment. She clears the table and asks if we want anything else. We order green tea ice cream — they have none today(of course!) Awesome, we will just take the check then. To top it off, she brings over the bill with an 18% gratuity included for a party of 3. Are you kidding me!!! She claims the gratuity was«suggested, but you don’t have to pay that amount if you don’t want to.» Really??? .because it has already been added into our total and charged to our card. We nipped that in the bud really fast. Long story short, if you’re about to head in the direction of Vortex, RUNTHEOTHERWAY!!! Don’t let it suck you in like it did us.

Been to most sushi places in the area and this is one of my favorites! Their all you can eat sushi deal is really worth it, but be careful of the catch! You do have to eat everything you order for the all you can eat deal and anything that is left unfinished must be paid for to be taken home. Though the waiters do make this very clear prior to ordering I did notice some controversy over this policy with some other customers. As for the food it’s very fresh and they give pretty generous portions of fish inside the sushi rolls. Have also done delivery from here a couple of times and they have always been speedy. Definitely go here!

Staff was friendly and food is fresh and arrives quickly! Even though the place closes at 3 to prepare for dinner, when me and my friends arrived at 2:30, they didn’t rush us and continued to take our orders even after 3. Would definitely come here again.

Came in the afternoon for lunch. Got the all you can eat, everything was awesome, food is easily 5 stars for me, the attitude of the staff however bring it down for me, I’ll still give 4 stars because I liked the food so much but they really need to work on the personalities.

I would give this place 3.5 stars. This place is just ok for AYCE, obviously not as good as places you can get in the city. But being on Long Island this place satisfies sushi cravings and is definitely better than Sushi Palace. Knocked off a star because staff was a little rude. They put the check down while we were still eating right in the middle of the table while my fiancé and I were having a conversation, so it seemed a bit rude. We probably won’t be back for some time since our last experience wasn’t too great, but the next time those sushi cravings come around we’ll probably find ourselves back here…

ALLYOUCANEATSUSHI! $ 22. Not too bad considering two rolls will probably add up to that amount. For appetizers, we got the SEAWEEDSALAD, which was good, tasted like any other seaweed salad. We also got the CHICKENTERIYAKI. When the chicken came, the appearance was such a disappointment. Very little strips of chicken, maybe an inch long and 1⁄8 inch wide. It was drowned in teriyaki sauce and It did not look appealing at all. It tasted okay, but it was basically teriyaki sauce that you ate. We got 3 rolls. The MANGODELIGHT. THEPHOENIXROLL. And the B&J ROLL. The mango delight and the B&J roll had the same basic roll. Spicy salmon inside which was good! And the toppings were just different. The Phoenix roll had shrimp tempura. All the rolls were pretty good. Can’t complain I also got some SALMONSASHIMI. Sashimi comes with the AYCE, which is awesome! They gave good looking pieces with a good size to them. The salmon did taste a little to fishy for my palate, but I got to hide that a little bit with some lemon. Overall, the food was average, but it satisfied my sushi craving. The workers would stop by here and there or we would have to call them. And at the end of our meal, one of the workers was super sweet. She was great! Check it out! Maybe don’t order the chicken teriyaki, but the rolls were good!

Good for all you can eat. Sashimi is a bit fishy and nigiri rice portion is a bit bigger than ideal, but this is one of the better ayce sushi places I have been to

Worst service every They rush you to order an then stand around and wait! Ordered sashimi deluxe and it was far from being deluxe, fish was room temperature plus the fact that my girlfriend got her food 10 min before I got mine. The sashimi was served on a plate as big as a table, usually it comes on a bed of ice! I do not think I will come here ever again no wait I know I will not come here again!

The good reviews here are deff outdated. Went for all you can eat when they first started doing it. Was great. Seems like they don’t like doing it anymore seeing as they will now charge you for every piece of sushi you don’t eat lol. I ordered two kani salads and they thought it was 5. They got mad and charged me for 3 more because I «wasted food». Also, I wanted to try a new roll. I ate half of it and wasn’t fond so they charged me 8 $ more.

I’ve eaten in many AYCE sushi restaurants and usually go to queens or NYC to get my sushi fix via buffet. With Vortex I won’t have to do that anymore. Quite possibly the best AYCE sushi buffet in Suffolk county. Sushi is fresh, specialty rolls are delish, and appetizers are decent. Vortex also offers unlimited sake and draft selection for a low fixed price, which is a pretty good deal as well. Other than the occasional mishap of orders going to the wrong table, Vortex offers fresh sushi and great rolls. The interior décor is also nice, featuring a sleek modern restaurant look, mirroring most NYC restaurants. Which surprises me when the bar is sometimes empty. Overall, I’d recommend this place to people who’ve eaten at AYCE sushi places around the city area.

First visit here, and will definitely return. The beef negimaki appetizer was the best I have ever eaten– scallions cooked enough to to be tender and the beef was moist and tender. The sushi rolls were fresh and very good. The servers were friendly and attentive without rushing. The menu prices were reasonable. They have an all you can eat deal, which apparently one needs to ask for if one is interested.

Awesome Sushi bar. Excellent ambiance and service that is next to none. Attentive staff leaves you feeling like you were at a 5 star Manhattan restaurant. My wife and I frequent here every Wednesday on our mutual day off. She is a picky eater and she loves this place. Keep up the good work guys! Thanks!
