Went to Len & Jo’s for the 1st time tonight. Was overall very pleased. The décor seemed antiquated but that obviously was the goal-it was authentic. Place was a bit cramped but I was amazed at how clean everything was! Even the ceilings looked like they were polished(wood) & freshly cleaned, that says alot. The waitress was so nice/friendly and did a perfect job-order was right, timely, & checked on us throughout. The pizza was very different but in a good way. Light crispy crust, also had a meatball/vege combo pie, even better. Our picky-eating kids were happy & had 2nds &3rds. There’s nothing fancy about this place, but it was exactly what we were looking for and we were more than pleased! Will be returning for sure!!! Also, be mindful tips can only be given in cash so bring some. Also, surprisingly busy for a Tues. night, good sign tho.

Always a «go to» for a unique pizza in a funky environment! Last 2yrs or so have questioned the usage of «real» cheese; texture is tough, not enough fat. Still good, as the crispy crust(pretty much a simple flour, water, and salt concoction) stands on it’s own; pretty sure due to the ancient, blackened cookie sheet pans! Always terrific with a pitcher of Coors!

my husband grew up in the area and he always looks forward to coming back here to eat. well, i am pretty sure reality will take over nostalgia after this visit. we arrived at 4pm right when they opened and at 5:45 we still had no pizza. Around 5:30 in walks a group of 6 who sit down and get their food in about 10 minutes. Hmmmmm, we complain and the waitress walks over to their table, takes a pie off their table and hands it to us. GROSS. So, I really can’t speak to the pizza on this trip because we never got any. we also ordered an antipasto which was a couple strips of mozz and iceberg lettuce. our daughter had a bowl of plain ziti which she enjoyed.

Been stopping at Len and Joes since I was a kid(20+ years). I am from NYC and you have to appreciate their unique style of food and more importantly their pizza. Great value for what you get. Some people will say they can get thin crust here or there… these guys have been doing it a long time and it’s worth making a stop. You cannot compare this to Rays, Pepe’s(CT folk) or any chain restaurant. It’s the whole small town American experience that comes with it. You feel like your transported back in time when you get there because it’s just a great atmosphere. When you go there you can tell the people working are family. Nicest people you will ever meet. It’s a simple operation, with a great formula –great food, great people, great value.

Definitely worth a stop. Very tasty pizza, with great sauce and good ingredients and an unusual thin crust that was crisp and chewy too. Large portions, friendly folks, very casual ambience. Two of us shared a small pizza and there was plenty left over. Service was a little slow, but when they brought us the hot pie on a cookie sheet we knew it was worth the wait. We’ll be back!

My husband and I go every Sunday for date night. 20 years and the food is the same. Delicious and inexpensive! A small family restaurant with a small bar. You can sit yourself in the restaurant or sit at the bar and eat. The pizza is square and flat, about the size of a large cookie sheet. Topping are always plentiful. Tuesday night is the special. Large pie with 2mugs of beer for 8.95. We usually get a pie with everything including meatballs and the price is around $ 13.00. I know I am biased but its definitely the place to bring your family and not break the bank.

Good pizza. A tradition in the area. It’s not true NY style, more pan pizza style. Reasonable, 2 large pizzas with one topping each were $ 23 total. If you are ordering takeout know that it will take 30 – 40 minutes for your order to be ready.

Like others have said, this place is a small tavern-type dive, which to me is perfect! I come here for the pizza and a bit of nostalgia. It’s like one of the small town taverns that I used to see growing up in Wisconsin so it takes me back to my childhood. I love it and wish it were closer to me. I have like 5 pizza joints in my little town and this is well worth the 45 minute drive to get something I will enjoy.

Great, unique pizza since the beginning of time. A dive in the best sense of the word. Try the half American half mozzarella pie for a great change. Best pizza within 30 miles.

I live in NYC, but have a place upstate in Barryville for the past 4 years. It was only about a year ago that I «discovered» Len & Jo’s, and I quickly fell in love. By no means is this a place to go for ambiance, as it probably hasn’t been remodeled since it opened, but they do have fantastic pizza and good food. Being a little bit of a NYC pizza snob, you might say I found it challenging to find good pizza up here. For an idea of my preferences I love Johns, and Joe and Pats(on SI). When we ordered the pizza here, the first time, looking at it I was dubious… but I must say it is delicious. If you are looking for a traditional NYC pie, this is not it. But if you are willing to venture out, it’s terrific. I have taken many people there over the past few months, and picked up as well, and everyone has loved it. As for the other dishes– I have tried the chicken parm and it is very good(I think they add a bit of lemon to the chicken– just a guess)– but very good flavor. My sister had the lasagna and she liked it. The only complaint ever was from my wife the last time we picked up we ordered a salad(she is picky about her salads)– it had a lot of peppers and also had pickles in it. I enjoyed it, but I do like pickles a lot… she thought it was crazy. All in all– an excellent«greasy spoon» type of Italian place — by far the best in the area IMHO, and well worth a side trip.

I grew up on Len & Jo’s pizza so maybe I am biased but I love it. It is not traditional NY style pizza, but a thin crusted unique pizza that I find delicious. Although the atmosphere in this place is dated the food is good. They also have a bar in the back of the place so if you just want to stop in for a drink you’re good to go. The one item I could never get into is the pickled eggs. They always had a jar of them though. I just don’t like them. Back to the pizza… since I am a huge of the pizza and a big fan of garlic I figured why not ask if they can do a garlic pizza. Sure enough, although it was not a choice of toppings they brought me a pizza covered in minced garlic. Now, every time I get to the area I try to stop in and order a garlic pizza.

My daughter and her friend have told me how good the pizza is here so we arranged to try it out one day. The day finally came, being my good friend is a resident in the town so we picked a Friday at 7pm. Ok, probably not the best time to go here. I walked in to a packed place, nobody was leaving and no one had any food on their tables yet. I asked if they took names, the lady behind the bar said«no, just grab a table when it becomes available.» At this point I’m starting to feel a little sour cause I had driven almost 40 minutes with the entire family to get here. Well, as we deliberated and debated where else we should go, about 20 minutes had passed and wouldn’t you know it, tables were available. Now on with my review. We ordered 3 large pizzas which came out reasonably on time. Two pies with toppings, the other plain. The cheese was very good, the crust was nice and chewy and the sauce was good. Me being from the Bronx and spoiled with great pizza all my life I have to say it may be the tastiest pizza in all of Orange County. We were fighting over the last couple of slices. They don’t sell pitchers of soda so be prepared for $ 2 a cup with free refills. Very Bar/Pub-ish atmosphere with more animal heads on the back wall than a Petting Zoo. A neighborhood place of times gone by but thanks to the owners, you can still take in a piece(or a slice) of those times. Will go again.(Unless gas prices go past $ 5 a gallon, yeesh!)

Simple comfort food in a busy, wood-paneled dining room. The pizza is chewy, flavorful and plentiful. The appetizers are deep-fried and basic, the«salads» are comprised of iceberg and dressing.

I’m originally from this town, and I get the pizza from here nearly every time I go back. I’ve been going here since I was a kid, and I don’t think they’ve redecorated a single thing since then. I guess only the arcade games have changed. In all the times I’ve been, I’m pretty sure I’ve only had the pizza and once, the garlic bread. This is my favorite pizza. I love it for being greasy and cheesy and rectangular and delicious. Locals either love it or hate it. I’ve come close to polishing off an entire pie by myself. And don’t forget to get a birch beer — don’t see that served too often.

A little neighborhood bar, in a NY state river town. Don’t go here if you’re looking for a chic atmpsphere. There is just the bar and two cramped dining areas. I don’t think the place has been redecorated since it opened 40 or 50 years ago. But the staff is friendly, the service a little slow, and the food while mot fancy is very good. The pizza comes on rectangular pan, with a crisp crust and excellent toppings. However if you go here you must get their hot sauce on their pasta. You have to ask for it, well worth the effort. This is a great little place for Italian comfort food. This is a great stop if you have been enjoying a beautiful ride along the Delaware River or better yet rafting on this wild and scenic waterway. Len and Jo’s is family friendly, and a fun place to get a good meal.
