Fun inexpensive place to eat and get a brewski. Waiters and waitresses are fun and have been there forever. Very casual place on the water with cool breezes.

My husband and I ate at The Deck and I must say we would definitely go again! I ordered the specialty wrap, appropriately named as it’s ESPECIALLYDELICIOUS!!! My husband ordered the grouper fingers and thought they were just average. The French fries were also underwhelming in my opinion… They were fried too hard and had no seasoning. Sodas are not refillable, only the iced tea, which was very tasty. Our overall experience at Deck Down Under was a very good one… The service we received was great and everyone was very accommodating and friendly. Thumbs Up

We just left the restaurant and were quite disappointed. We had tried the place for the first time a couple months ago and were happy with everything BUT this time not happy i had fried shrimp that was over cooked and tough, the other half had grilled fish which was very obvious to have been frozen over cooked and tasteless. To top off the meal was key lime pie certainly not home-made and barely tasted of lime. First experience was good but this time soured us we will not be back.

Had dinner there in May. Ordered the large shrimp and the Conch fritters. Large shrimp were frozen, flattened that I have had oh, so many times in seafood restaurants all over the eastern seaboard, with the same tasteless breading and tried to make it more palatable by dunking it in their pitiful tartar sauce. The conch fritters were not quite as bad, but nothing more than small conch rolled into their hushpuppies and deep fried and served in a plastic basket. The other two traveling companions fared no better. Ladies, you know what it is like to get a mammography? That is what the shrimp was like when it was served to us. Flattened paper thin, all exactly alike, not round like normal shrimp should have been. They were all cookie cutters of each other; like you could shuffle them like a deck of cards and play with them. Apparently this must be a biker hangout, or the owner must be a biker, as all the prime parking places are designated for bike parking only, which I found unnerving, as I was traveling with an 83 year old lady who has a difficult time walking, but the handicapped parking places were placed around the side of the building much further from the front door, but the owners make sure the bikers had the best parking places right at the front door. Apparently they don’t seem to care about the handicapped at this joint. The only saving grace to this place is the location, which has a great view, which is needed to help you swallow the poor food they serve. And my meal? Only $ 27. And, mind you, no alcohol at all, just tea. Very overpriced. Save your money, go to McDonald’s and get a fish sandwich. It’s much better seafood.

Very disappointed with the food and service. We waited about 25 minutes just to place our order to a rude cashier and sat down to wait approximately another 45 minutes for our food. The blackened shrimp and grits and hush puppies were ok but the fish was as bland as it could be with breading and no seasoning and the fried shrimp tasted like what I imagine rubber bands would taste like. The child’s grilled cheese was stale and bland as well. For the money this is not worth it and I most definitely will not be back.

Love this place. Great food great view. Expect a wait as the line is almost always out the door. The spiced peel and eat shrimp and hush puppies are awesome. Key lime pie is good and all the sweet tea you can drink

What an adorable spot! Really casual and fun. You walk up to order, pick a table, inside or outside on the inter coastal. We got the half half crab and shrimp. The shrimp was spicy Cajun deliciousness. The crab legs were yummy. We got oysters, fresh. Blackened grouper was also great. Oyster po boy was a standard oyster po boy so opt for the SHRIMP. AMAZING. The staff was so helpful and friendly, they walk around serving ice tea and water. So nice. Check it out.

I can give it 4 stars because I grew up here and know when to go and when to eat somewhere else. Whether on a date or with a buddy, we will find spots up at the bar unless it’s super nice out then we’ll sit outside waterfront! Locals get served right away, it’s just the way it is and no life is wasted standing in line if you know what to do. I know what’s good and what’s worth the $$! This place has one of the greatest views in Daytona and that’s half the battle along with great customer service but the place does get slammed so the trick is not being a part of that in my opinion lol! I do however still like going when it’s busy with a group but we avoid the rush hour like the plague! Once again, I don’t have many issues here because I’m not confused and frustrated lol! The food itself is nothing amazing for sure. It’s not gonna compete with a port city getting fresh seafood. A lot of there fish is frozen(salmon etc) to keep up with the demand but it’s still pretty good! It’s on the water, open/airy and bright/fun! I actually prefer going here on rain days when I have to stop working lol. I know weird right?! It’s usually dead so I call a few friends to join me until the weather breaks! Super relaxing even if it’s just me solo dolo! One of my go to’s are the peel n eat shrimp(old bay spicy) and the blackened fish dinners. It’s good simple bar food but when the weathers right, it all comes together! So let’s review: avoid rush, think seat at the bar firs, take a deep breath(wooosa) and don’t over think anything. After that all there is left is to ENJOY! Life’s not that serious…

The atmosphere is great, the food not so much. I had the fried fish and shrimp. Both were in the same bland batter. The mai tai was gross. My fiancé has the blackened fish and it was good. The line was long but it moved pretty fast. It was kind of confusing because once we waited in line and sat down, we saw people skip the line, sit down, and waitresses wait on them. There was no direction on waiting in line vs getting a waitress, i.e. hostess. Anyway, we won’t be back.

Standing in line to order is a definite downside, and often deters me from eating here, but hang on… there’s some major upside! The view is fantastic — you might even see dolphins swimming right by the dock. My experience with the seafood is that it’s fresh and consistently well-prepared. If you’re looking for a laid-back, casual, Florida-Keys-type of seafood experience, this is a good choice. But, if you’re headed there at a peak dining time, be prepared to stand in line. Probably a long one.

You walk in this place and give your order at the counter and pay. your drinks, you take with you. when your food is ready they bring it out to you. this is where they either write down how many of each sex in party or what you have on our both. cause you seat yourself after getting your drinks. this is no small place and has just as many seats out on 2 decks as there are inside. Daddy Bob and Corinne had been here before and said was good. we were disappointed this time… ordered fish and shrimp. fish fillets numerous but thin and shrimp were cut flat. they were over done and chewy. dad had same. Shelly had chicken which she said was good. Corinne had just shrimp. same thing.chewy.sides were good.

We had the seafood platter. Great clams, wonderful scallops, tasty hush puppies, good fries, but the shrimp weren’t that good, the fish was too thin.

I was starving for more seafood and found this on Unilocal while the kids were still up in Daytona playing — so thought i would get some food to have at the hotel when they got in. Huge place– under the bridge with other restaurants on the water, seemed to be the go too place. I wondered through and found a place at the bar to get a beer. There must have been an hour line to get in an order as I think the protocol was to stand in line, order food, then get a number and go to a table. I don’t think I would have waited unless I was a regular and knew what I wanted but the line was huge! So at the bar, my beer came in a plastic cup–(I hate plastic cups unless I am on a boat) — but cold. Ordered some conch fritters and had a TV above me to keep me busy. Service was pretty slow so as soon as I got the appetizer I ordered the food to go. Took my time and got another beer and it was about 30 – 45 min for the meals. First meal was a crab cake sandwich with fries. It was big, but a lot of mix could use more crab. Tasty though and good for the boys since they didn’t care. It was food! Still was a good value. Then I ordered a blackened shark sandwich with fries and hushpuppies. I really liked this. This pieces of meat, 3-on a bed of lettuce with tomato and maybe onions on the side. This was for me so I just at it open face leaving one large piece of bread out, at the fish then ate the«salad» under it. Really good. Then we had a fried clam platter with fries also. Lots on the plate, crunchy and good fit, great to sit on our deck and eat at the room. We all had drinks and I got silverware and napkins to go and this was a feast. Was not overpriced in my opinion and the portions were quite large– so no complaints on the food. I guess my only recommendation is get there a bit early but I’m sure this place is packed all day. Would be nice during the day and pretty sure it had outside seating. just have to speed up the pace of ordering and getting food out on time.

We heard this place was great, but after visiting we were sadly dissapointed. We knew we would have to wait in line, but we ended up waiting an hour and a half. They had only one person taking orders. As a server I understand that things happen, but there were no apologies for the long wait. We waited on our food for another hour. By the way, there are no free refills on soda. only water and tea. We each got something different. The food was below average or average at best. I will say that we had one waitress come by multiple times and who brought us free fish dip. Which wasn’t good, but it was so sweet of her to even think of that. She took the time to get to know us and chatted us up. Something else that was aggrivating is that according to the rest of our family holding a table, multiple parties sat down, while managing not to have to wait in line. By the time we got to our table after ordering they had already ordered and ate their food. So apparently this happened multiple times. I guess if you know someone, you get to skip the line. Thus putting other customers needs to the later. In the end, I would say don’t waste your time even if you don’t have to wait in line. It took way too long to order and way too long to get food for four people. Shout out to the waitress who helped us out! You rock!

We came here on a Thursday evening around 5pm. Small line, which gave us enough time to decide on our items for a family of 4. Place order and then pick a seat and wait for it to be brought to you. I got the special wrap and it was delicious! The hush puppies are probably the best I’ve ever had. Very moist. Settle in with a beer and enjoy the view!

Food and view = 5 stars !(Especially hush puppies) The whole waiting in line thing… Not exactly my favorite way to order food. But I got over it. If you want a T shirt you don’t gotta wait in line for it. (I learned that the hard way) lol

Excellent food and amazing view… It would be 5 stars if they could fix HORRIBLE order taking service. When you arrive, you stand in line and wait to place your order. By wait, I mean A REALLYLONGWAIT! We stood looking at half of the tables empty for 55 minutes before placing our order. There were only 9 couples ahead of us in line! It would have been longer but numerous people in front of us gave up and went elsewhere. Average time to handle an order was 7 – 9 minutes! The slow order taking is made worse by the sheer num we of people that arrive at the register hammered! While waiting in line the couple ahead of us would trade of making runs for margaritas. By the time they made it to the register they had consumed 4 drinks each and had trouble conveying their order. Sadly, I would not recommend this place to those who have kids! Trying to keep the kids patient while waiting in line and attempting to keep them from repeating the language others were using to convey their frustration… Can be very exhausting! We finally split up and my wife sat at the table with the kids while I waited in line. By the end of the night the kids had watched both«Wreck-It-Ralf» and«Inside Out». It you brave the line. The jambalaya is fantastic, along the scallops.

I came here while fishing on the Halifax. This is definitely a local dive with a seafood and sports bar flair. The wait staff is welcoming and friendly but they do not wait tables very well. The fish burger was good, but the portion is smaller than their competition across the parking lot.
